Kodiak Networks today emerged from stealth mode to launch the Kodiak Real-Time Exchange System (RTX) - a new Push-To-Talk (PTT) solution. The hybrid system uses standard voice channels instead of VoIP, providing industry-leading latency around 150 milliseconds. RTX works with all major mobile phone technologies, including GSM, CDMA, and UMTS. The unique solution also enables PTT calls to non-PTT phones. Kyocera announced that it will produce RTX-compatible handsets. Kyocera is also preparing PTT phones for two competing technologies: Qualcomm's BREWChat, and Togabi's PacketCHAT.
