Motorola Updates Android Upgrade Schedule

Motorola has posted a revised schedule of software updates for its Android devices. In the U.S., Motorola says that the Droid X will receive Android 2.2 by late summer. The Backflip will be updated to Android 2.1 during the third quarter. Motorola is in the process of testing Android 2.1 for the Cliq and Cliq XT, and expects to deliver it late in the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter. The Devour will not be updated to Android 2.1.

Motorola ClIQ Android Update Schedule

They are really taking their time updating the CLIQ to Android 2.1. Seems to me that by the time they've gotten around to it, the CLIQ will be pretty long in the tooth and about ready for replacement. Hummmm.........is this by design do you think? I thought Moto was an honorable company. Am I wrong?
There are two schools of thought on this:
