Qualcomm today announced that it has begun shipping its next-generation SnapDragon processors for smartphones. The two new modules — one for HSPA+ and one for EV-DO Rev. B — have two processor cores that run up to 1.2GHz. Qualcomm says the SnapDragon processors support 2D/3D graphics acceleration, support for Open GLES 2.0 and Open VG 1.1 acceleration, 1080p high-def video playback, integrated GPS, and support for 24-bit WXGA 1280 x 800 displays. Qualcomm says the chips also support low power modes for improved battery life. Qualcomm expects the chips to be used in smartphones and netbooks.

Simply Amazing Capabilities...

If this ships out later this year I might have hold off on this instead of getting the HTC EVO 4G. I like the idea of the HTC EVO, but I don't get the impression SPRINT is really ready for it with 4G. Seems like a tremendous leaps lately in cell phone technology and on the near horizon.
We won't see anything materialize on a smartphone in less than 2yrs. With that said, don't attempt to hold your breath.

Then when you wait, something else will emerge. I will not end, Technology pushes forward. I personally am in line friday for the Evo. If I waited for the next big thing, I would never buy anything.

I can see it now. PC Pitstop CPU Score:

Over NINE THOUSAND!!!!!!!
I say bring it on! ! !
Media Center Phones?

Rumor has it that Apple is turning AppleTV into an iphone without a screen, with cloud based playback instead of having in box storage.

Maybe google and others are planning something similar? but putting it IN the device it...
