Today Dolby announced a new version of Dolby Mobile that offers simulated 5.1 multichannel audio to mobile phones. The new software means that phones will be able to offer a more immersive experience during multimedia playback, such as movies. The software also comes with Dolby Digital Plus decoding, which will provide real 5.1 surround sound to mobile devices through HDMI. Dolby Digital Plus also adds dimension to streamed audio, and includes bass and high-frequency enhancers, sound level control and a graphic EQ. The new Dolby Mobile will launch this March on the LG Mini GD880. Dolby and LG renewed their commitment to one another, and LG said it will soon offer more of its phones with Dolby Mobile.
