Verizon Wireless said that its planned acquisition of Alltel Wireless is moving forward and should close by the end of 2008. Analysts are not so sure. Fitch Ratings believes that the worsening economy may play a role in keeping the acquisition from happening. It also says that if the federal government requires Verizon to divest too many assets, it may back out of the deal. Verizon announced its intent to acquire Alltel four months ago for the s um of $28.1 billion.

alltel's plans

I'm sure this was covered in an earlier discussion about the merger, but Are alltel's customers going to be forced out of the mycircle or can they keep it until they upgrade their phones, similar to how ATT raped their CellOne conversions?
Im a worker for Verizon Wireless.
And All Alltel people will still keep there plans, prices, and features.

So My Cricle will still be there.

Alltel people will also not have to worry about Roaming charges!
Roaming is FREE with Verizon Wireless...

before election day.
I'm curious, what do you think the election has anything to do with the Verizon/Alltel merger?

It will happen and here's why

VZW will agree to include several "goodies" in the form of welfare for poor people and the libs on the FCC and at DOJ will call them important concessions.

see AT&T buying Bellsouth for examples
