Broadcom, Qualcomm Working On Settlement

Today a Qualcomm executive said that the company is in settlement talks with Broadcom to resolve the on-going patent disputes between the two firms. No deals have yet been struck, however.

President Biden today revoked executive orders from the previous administration targeting Chinese-owned TikTok and WeChat. The old executive orders would have effectively banned the apps in the US as long as they remained under control by Chinese companies.

AT&T and Verizon have agreed to an FAA request to delay the launch of 5G in new C-Band radio frequencies by one month, while potential interference issues are addressed, reports the Wall Street Journal. Both companies were planning to launch the highly-anticipated mid-band 5G service on or around December 5th, but will now launch the service no sooner than January 5th, 2022.

T-Mobile and the FCC have agreed to settle an FCC investigation started in September 2019 alleging that Sprint defrauded the US government by collecting approximately $8 million per month in Lifeline subsidies for 885,000 ineligible accounts. Lifeline helps low-income consumers afford basic phone and internet service.
