UScellular is Now Part of T-Mobile

T-Mobile has now formally acquired "substantially all" of UScellular's wireless operations, including customers and stores, as well as "certain specified spectrum assets". This completes a transaction first announced in May. Current UScellular customers can keep their existing plans "for now", but will soon have the option to switch to a T-Mobile plan. UScellular customers are expected to experience enhanced coverage on the T-Mobile network (now with more spectrum) and should not need new devices. The portion of UScellular that T-Mobile is not buying will live on as "Array Digital Infrastructure Inc.", which will "retain ownership of a significant portion of the company's spectrum and towers, continuing operations as a separate infrastructure-focused entity." In its process of exiting the consumer wireless business, UScellular has also made a spectrum deal with AT&T and held talks with Verizon.
