Qualcomm today said its next flagship mobile platform will be a system-on-a-chip built using a 7nm process. Moreover, the SoC can be paired with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X50 5G modem. Combined, the 7nm SoC and X50 will help phone makers create the first wave of flagship 5G devices. Qualcomm says this combo will usher in more intuitive on-device AI while also delivering raw power balanced with good battery life. Qualcomm is sampling the mobile platform to its phone-maker customers as they prepare next-generation devices. Qualcomm says full details of the 7nm SoC will be announced during the fourth quarter of the year.
