Snapchat today pushed up a major update to its service that improves the app's ability to handle messages, photos, and videos. Snapchat now lets users transition between these ways of communication with a simpler user interface, and allows people to send videos or audio snippets even when recipients aren't online. Users can access the camera roll from within the message composition screen. The update also adds a function called Auto-Advance Stories, which Snapchat says helps people catch up on their friends' messages, videos, and audio clips by automatically advancing through them. Users can skip ahead or exit by swiping the screen. The messaging app gains more than 200 stickers to help liven up conversations. Last, Snapchat revised its terms of service and privacy policy to "make some things clearer." Snapchat 2.0 is available in an update to both the Android and iOS platforms. The app is free to download.
