Pebble Launches Steel Version of Time Smartwatch
Pebble today followed the Pebble Time smartwatch with the Pebble Time Steel. The steel version of the Time offers all the same features, but uses a CNC-finished 316L stainless steel casing, includes a premium leather or stainless steel strap, and provides up to 10 days of battery life. Like the Pebble Time, the Pebble Time Steel is available through Kickstarter. Early pledges can reserve one for $250. It will ship in July.

Pebble today improved its smartwatch platform with more health and fitness features. The expanded toolset is being made available through a firmware update for the Pebble Time-series watches as well as the accompanying Pebble app for Android and iOS smartphones.

Pebble today announced the Pebble 2 and Time 2 smartwatches, as well as the Core connected button. The two wearables target fitness users and include heart rate monitors for tracking workouts and monitoring sleep.

Pebble has tweaked the performance of its health app and introduced a brand new weather app in a system update for Pebble smartwatches. Pebble OS version 3.13 takes steps to improve the accuracy of Pebble Health, which now accounts for movements during sleep and prevents them from being logged as steps.

Huawei today announced the second generation of its Android Wear smartwatch. The new Huawei Watch 2 adds a number of features, including optional 4G LTE data, standalone GPS, continuous heart rate monitoring, NFC, Android Wear 2.0, and a special watch-only mode that can achieve up to 25 days of battery life.
