GreatCall Intros New App for Caregivers
GreatCall today announced GreatCall Link, a smartphone application that will provide alerts and other information to caregivers. The app works in conjunction with elderly customers who subscribe to the 5Star service, which is used for emergencies and other medical events/needs. The GreatCall Link app will supply caregivers with records of 5Star calls made by subscribers to NAED Certified Response Agents and any actions that were taken; the ability to set real-time location monitoring of 5Star subscribers; the ability to see the 5Star device's status; and the ability to view multiple 5Star subscribers and change between them easily. The application is available to Android smartphones and iOS devices. It will be available beginning later this month.

Google today introduced new Custom Device Actions for Google Assistant that will give devices native functionality specific to their hardware. Custom Device Actions build on the Assistant's existing Actions tool for issuing specific commands.

Facebook today announced Crisis Response, a single spot where users will be able to find information about a range of natural and man-made disasters, weather events, and more. Crisis Response houses existing Facebook tools such as Safety Check, Community Help, and Fundraisers.

Google today updated its main search tool with a new emphasis on helping people locate nearby events. Moving forward, generic searches for things like "events near me" will result in a list of events from a variety of sources, as well as vital details about those events.

GreatCall recently announced the Jitterbug Smart2, a new version of its smartphone for seniors. The phone is based on Android, but GreatCall has completely overwritten the user interface with its own software that was designed specifically for ease-of-use.
