Mitigo Inc. today unveiled CodePoint, software that allows mobile phones and PDAs to read visual symbols such as barcodes via integrated digital cameras. Instead of entering long numbers, codes, or addresses to input or access specific information, CodePoint allows users to simply aim the phone at a printed code, and input or be be linked to the relevant information in seconds. CodePoint does not require additional hardware, such as a laser, usually required to read such codes, instead leveraging the growing trend toward integrating digital camera technology with mobile devices.
