Toronto Airport Unplugging Wireless Towers
Jul 9, 2002, 9:49 AM by (staff)
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority began shutting down wireless network equipment at Pearson airport yesterday, following 15 months of failed negotiations for a new contract with the mobile phone carriers. The authority has demanded new equipment investment from the carriers, as well as a 500% increase in lease rates. The carriers, who claim the demands are unreasonable, are planning a joint advertising blitz and will begin lobbying federal ministers this week to assist.
