Verizon Launches BREW

Verizon Wireless today announced that it is launching BREW download services in San Diego this week, to be available nationwide in May. The new service uses Qualcomm's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW), a technology developed for downloading and running small programs on cell phones. Games, ringtones, and expense-mangement tools will be among the first downloads available. The service will require a BREW-capable phone, such as the Verizon Wireless Z-800 or Kyocera 3035e.
