JObs stated that Apple would not put out a 3G iPhone until a 3G chipset was marketed that would give equivalent battery life to Edge use. The one he put out clearly does NOT live up to those statements, not by a longshot.

That analogy is no better. To make it a true analogy, it would be like buying an HD TV, and having to turn off the HD to keep the battery from running out. The HD is the whole reason it's different (or better) than a standard def TV. The iPhone 3G was said by Steve Jobs to have equal battery life to the original. Apparently he meant it was equal if you didn't use the 3G. Not real shiny.

Sorry, but I can't agree with this answer. That's like buying a digital HD TV, then being told if you want it to run properly only feed it an analog standard signal. I don't have the iPhone, mainly because I'm not willing to pay Verizon the ETF. I may get it once my contract is up, depending on reviews of the 3G signal in my area, and if the slingmobile app is out for it. However, I am concerned about the ...

Thanks for the reply. You're about 85 miles northeast of me, so I'm not sure if the coverage would equate to here. But every bit of info helps. Thanks.

Question from South Jersey

in the Apple iPhone 3G forum

My current VZW contract is up in January. I'm considering the new iPhone 3G, but I do remember a time about 8-10 years ago when I went with AT&T for my cellular coverage. It was awful. This was back in the days of roaming, and the salesman lied to me that there would be no roaming within a 25-mile radius around my home address. He also told me that AT&T had the entire region saturated with coverage. Well, I couldn't go ...

The other reply is right - the easiest/best way is with a card reader. My computer has a built in 15-in-1 reader, but I also picked up a SanDisk Mobilmate 5-in-1 the other day. It runs $15-20 normally, but was on sale for $10 last week at RadioShack. Unlike the reader in my PC, this one can take the microsd without the SD adapter. Plus, it's the size of a USB drive, so it's very portable. Don't believe Verizon about ...

More likely it's to address you're being able to put your own mp3s and ringtones and videos on it, instead of buying theirs. That's what the last Chocolate firmware update addressed on my daughter's and wife's phones.

Depends. I got mine for $12 after rebate. The best price I see now is about $25 shipped. (at Newegg)

1) Not sure. 2) Parental GPS, for one. 3) NO! 4) Depends on the size of the microSD card. I have over 220 mp3s (128kbps), and my 2GB card is barely half full. (I don't know if the chocolate can use a 2gb card) 5) From Verizon , it's $99.99 right now, I think.

Either load them yourself onto the microsd card, or use the Get-It-Now function built into the phone to buy them from Verizon. But, don't do that!

Simple. Because Verizon cripples the OBEX functionality.

OBEX profile, necessary for file transfer in bluetooth, is disabled by Verizon in the VX8300. I have no idea of a workaround, but I've never looked for one. I don't really use bluetooth.

Probably not. Napster songs have a license built in, and can't be shared between devices. Copying them to another device "inactivates" them. This is as far as I know. I don't use Napster, but I do know the songs are copy-protected.

Download VideoLAN. Quicktime puts too much crap on your computer. VideoLAN is free, and plays pretty much anything you throw at it. Alternatively, download the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, which includes nearly every common video codec for Windows, but also includes Media Player Classic, which plays both Quicktime and Real Player content without bogging your PC down with either.

Or, save the money and go for the VX8300. I had the VX8600 originally, and sent it back. It was uncomfortable to hold, and the built in speaker was crap. Call quality was acceptable, but not worth the other problems. The Chocolate is even worse. My wife and daughter each chose them, and I am so glad I didn't get one. The touch sensitive keys on the front are clumsy and don't work worth a darn. The music quality from the ...

My wife and daughter both got them. I hate them. I haven't notived your issue, but I do notice that whenever I get a call from them (or call to them), there's a 5-10 second pause before they can hear me. It doesn't happen with any other phone I call (or calls me).

You probably have a newer firmware, in which the player already plays mp3s, so it doesn't need to be enabled. Just place the mp3s in the my_music folder on your microsd card, and you should be good to go.

1. You already got the answer to that, so I'll skip it. 2. I used the cadr reader - I haven't gotten the sync feature to work right on WMP11. It always copies to the wrong folder, and adds an XML file, too.

Got the 2gb microSD card today, and I'm happy to report it works right out of the box. Used the phone to format it, then copied my pics and music from the old 1gb to it. When I checked the memory usage, it showed I had over 1gb remaining. Just to be sure, I ripped a new CD and copied to the new card, which took the storage to over 1gb, and it worked fine. Now shows 1.1GB used, .9GB remaining. So, ...

Well, I haven't gotten a definitive answer to this, so I saw a deal for a 2GB microsd card for $11.95 and went for it. I'll report back after I get it if the phone sees all 2 gig. If not, I'm only down $12. :D

I don't know about the enV, but both my daughter and wife have chocolates (wife=cherry, daughter=lime). For my money, they're cheap garbage. I hate the touch sensitive buttons on the front. It's damned near impossible to navigate the menus easily. Now, they've replaced my daughters lime under warranty (the USB port went bad), and the new one blocks putting your own homemade ringtones on. (Or so they think - it's a bit of a headache, but someone's found a workaround ...

I use BitPim with my 8300. I don't edit the MP3s down, I use audacity for that. But I use it to transfer the tones to the phone. One thing I found is to leave the settings that BitPim automatically brings up when converting the ringtones (bit depth, mono, etc...) I tried using better quality settings, and it made the tones sound worse - tinny and lots of ringing distortion.

Jabra C220s don't work with VX8300
Mar 18, 2007, 11:43 AM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

Found out the hard way. You have to play with the plug - if it's all the way in, you lose about half the song's stereo. If you pull it out part way, you get more of the song, but not all (it's less noticeable on some songs where the tracks are all blended, but on a song with wide stereo separation, phew). So take that for what it's worth. I've read online that others have had this same problem ...

You don't need a cable if your computer has an SD card reader. That's what I did - it's faster and easier, and costs nothing extra. I've put about 15 albums on my phone. Just pop the microSD card in it's SD adapter, slide that into the computer slot, and copy the mp3s to the my_music folder on the card. If you don't have a memory card, get one! I got the Kingston 1GB for $16 shipped. I think ...

VX8300 V.03 2GB microSD?
Mar 15, 2007, 2:45 PM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

I've read from some sites here that the VX8300 with version 03 firmware will recognize a 2GB memory card. However, when I e-mailed LG support about this question, here is what they replied: "Dear Customer, Thank you for inquiring of LG Electronics. Your e-mail has been received. The maximum capacity of memory for the microSD card supported by the phone is 1GB. If you use a higher capacity card, only 1GB of that memory will be accessible. Please feel free to ...
