Radio Shack of 10 years ago helped Sprint and VZW. Now that there are carrier stores and private dealers everywhere, the carriers don't need RS or BB like they used to. I highly doubt RS is going to rebound. They refuse to 'evolve' with the industry, and their stock price is a result of that.

you can all quit and go somewhere else. if you dont want to work for minimum wage, dont have minimum skills. i bet you put forth 100% effort for your wage you agreed to make for the job you agreed to do. i bet you do everything you are asked to do with a smile on your face. life sucks, get over it

i sure hope so...radio shack is so terrible, why not make another stupid decision? their stock keeps dumping and they blame tmobile for their profit margins decreasing. guess what...when you dont sell resistors and ham radios...your margins will go down. these carriers need to realize radio shack and other national chains arent the way to sell phones anymore. i dont care if you work for radio shack somewhere in lala land where you think you ...

you have 30 days to decide. buying phones on ebay wont help you. there are no month to month plans and you would have an activation fee for signing up. the coverage should be similar but you really wont know unless you try it.

Jun 25, 2011, 8:15 PM

of those three places, you should make the most at a corporate store. i would try to find an indirect agent to work for. they tend to pay higher commissions so if you are good you should make the most there. radio shack is in the toilet so if you want some kind of career i would stay far far a way from there. corporate would probably give you better health insurance and things like ...

yeah its mostly business people i would say. but it started out as an alternative to dial up in rural areas. we would sell 5-10 a month to people that lived where comcast or some other cable company didnt service. that was on 3g.

the carriers dont want people using their data cards/hot spots for home use. its stupid, but thats what they say. we live in a world of unlimited. they all complain about not enough data card sales but no one wants to have a cap.

if you go to bb or rs to buy a phone, great. dont go to a corp or 3rd party store when you have problems then. if rs and bb are so great, then they should salivate over fixing your issues they caused.

so since this is about sprint, you have an epic and an evo. 2 phones that are out of stock more than they are in stock. what do you show people when they want to see a demo optimus or demo aircard? people hate shopping at 'carrier' stores because the sales reps know no matter what they are only there to try out the demo phones and get real answers. after they get the answer, ...

att and sprint should end whatever contract they have with RS and make them sell like the rest of the 3rd party stores. 20 years ago, to get instant exposure, sprint needed RS. now that they destroy the name of every carrier they sell, these carriers need to invest in the channels that are actually selling phones.

Re: Demise of rs.

rs and bb are both terrible. rep visits dont mean you know anything. im sure the corp store was confused with rs selling refurbs. if no one knows that rs and bb have instant rebates, then why did the 2 test markets sales shoot up? if no one knew that bb and rs had instants, why is sprint doing this nation wide? i wonder how much complaining sprint is getting from rs?

Sprints customer service is ranked the highest of all wireless carriers. If you think sprint is bad, try going to an ATTerrible store.

Re: Very Aggresive Move.

A good sales rep makes money first. A good customer service rep answers dumb questions from dumb customers. If you don't close the sale the first time a customer is in, you might as well kiss that $ good bye. If you want to answer questions and feel warm and fuzzy inside, don't call yourself a sales rep.

Oh and FYI, the Target program expansion has been scheduled for 6-8 months and is not in response to this transition. are you serious...its not like sams club came up to RS today and told them they were getting the boot. of course the target deal is in response to this. they've known for a long time sams wasnt going to renew.

radio shack is a terrible company and has already closed hundreds of stores to show a profit. thats the only reason they havent tanked yet. since no one wants to buy them, they will continue to shut stores down because they dont know what they are doing. if everyone is sooo great at selling phones, they could just get a job with the direct and indirect channels.

ive seen certain sprint smart phones put to verizon just to see if they could. too much time on their hands, but it can be done. i would imagine sprint will be getting it soon enough. with att and vzw having pretty similarly priced plans, people would really jump ship to save some coin with sprint. only speculation of course.

i agree. im not a corp employee, but radio shack cant do half of what we offer. like i said before, if every one had the same pricing, RS and BestBuy would never sell another phone. why do you think RS and BB demand the pricing on the phones...its because they dont pay enough to have real sales people.

listen, i know the difference between prepaid and post paid(2 year contract phones for those of you that dont know). we have several people come to our stores with brand new phones in the box that was activated on the network at a radioshack, but the phone had never been turned on. im not sure what 'best buy' glasses are, but i hate best buy just the same as RS, i dont discriminate.

funny you mention the tvs and mattress being returned. i watched a 4 year old rear projection giant screen tv that was literally beat up with pieces falling off get a full refund for a modern hdtv. they will definitely lose money on the wireless if they treat those returns the same way.

i would guess sams club and walmart have such a grip on the carriers, their chargebacks will be 30days not 180 like just about everyone else. im almost positive when i worked there, it was 30days for sprint..and i wanna say 14 days for tmo and i cant remember what att/cingular was but i think it was 30. so basically it was the return period. like everyone else has said, sams runs with such low man power through ...

their stock is still down.. "Yet, for all that, the company's stock price is about back where it was at the start of the year, on investor concern about tightening margins and tougher earnings comparisons in the future as demand from popular product launches wanes. Takeover speculation that lifted the shares in the spring also has abated."

im talking about current day. the radioshack in the mall rings the phone through but doesnt turn them on. they dont physically activate the phone. i know how people get paid. its funny to hear what people think of themselves when they have never worked outside the box of RS.
