The previous owner only used it with Sprint. Why would it have to be tied to a line and what do you mean by that? I thought MSLs are derived from the HEX or DEC codes under the battery. It's a Palm Centro. So I think its an early smartphone (not 100% sure).

Thanks for the post lizzle. If that is true, why did I receive a bad MSL # from Sprint when I gave them a phone's HEX code (verified several times)?

I have a few questions about the MSL 6-digit code, related to using it to reset a phone. Is a MSL permanent for a given phone? Or does it change with each activation? Does a phone need to be currently activated to be able to enter the MSL and reset it? Thanks
