Re: 4G First

Verizon is dropping their 2G and 3G CDMA service. 2G is gone by the end of 2019. They won't activate a new phone without HD voice unless it is a straight replacement. They are converting their 2G/3G towers to 4G. This is a problem for 2014 GM OnStar, some medical equipment, and some communities that still use basic cellphones. For now, the 5G is more of a future proofing rather than a usable feature.

Re: Does it Have UFS 3.0

Yes. It has UFS 3.0, USB 3.1 Type C, front and rear Time of Flight depth sensors, WiFi 6. It retains the 3.5mm audio port. The The only 2020 technologies it appears to be missing is LP-DDR5 memory (it has LP-DDR4x) and the 2020 X55 modem has slightly faster 5G. However, 5G is unlikely to be a factor during most of the lifetime of this phone. The screen is wider and taller than the Note9 although the case is ...

Does it Have UFS 3.0

UFS 3.0 is much quicker and it appears that phones with it are doing away with the micro SD, possibly because of the speed difference. The Note 10 is rumored to have it. Does the 5G?

All the Samsung phone from the Fascinate onward have anti-shake. They have 13 scenes (the GNex has 5, the Rezound 11), ISO, exposure in 1/2 F-stops (vs. full on the GNex), focus options, exposure options. You apparently don't need a high end smartphone. However this is a bit faster 2009 phone with a big screen. Not very impressive.

Saw The Phone Today...VERY Disappointed

The screen is beautiful. Now to the rest. Camera Everyone talks about it. I was expecting features similar to my Samsung Fascinate. Previous Samsung smartphone cameras had leading features. This camera has much less configurability that any other Samsung camera including only 5 scenes, no focus choice, no exposure choice, no ISO choice, no "anti-shake", no image adjustments. They make it easier to upload an image, but what difference does it make if the image has problems? My test exposures were ...

Battery life in both phone appears to be LTE activity dependent. On the Thunderbolt LTE can be turned off, and presumably on the Droid Charge also. One tester evaluated batteries by streaming video over LTE; the two were very similar with the Thunderbolt outlasting the Droid Charge. The Droid Charge's benchmark scores must be due to bloatware; rooted and rom'd Galaxy S models with the same processor regularly equal or exceed the numbers posted by the Thunderbolt. However, outside the ...

Several reviews including this one comment on the sound quality, after all, it is a phone! When using the front camera you are likely to be using the speaker/mic, and it appears as a phone it falls a bit flat. The inability to switch back to 4G would be a dramatic problem, one not reported for the HTC Thunderbolt. As 4G rolls out the ability to be agile switching between networks would be essential. Not reported here, but reported several other ...

This may have been related to Samsung's Android modifications including Touchwiz. There are numerous reports of Galaxy S models being 'rooted' (creating superuser access on the phone) and then using various modified "ROM"s (the OS core with some applications). These modification provides the Galaxy S models with performance better than the Thunderbolt and sometimes extra features. A popular mod is to get access to tethering. Why would Samsung and Verizon (my experience is that it is more likely Verizon) ...

There are a variety of benchmarks showing up on YouTube. -On the Quandrant, which covers a variety of calculations and graphics, it is showing up at just over half the performance of the HTC Thunderbolt or the 3G Incredible 2. The number are about 2500 for a dual core Atrix, 1800 for the Thunderbolt, and 1000 for the Droid Charge. -Mflops are less than half also -Another test by PCWorld showed battery life to be WORSE than the Thunderbolt running the ...

All of the Androids are based on an ARM Cortex processor. The TrustZone feature of the design is optional in the implementation and appears to be the key for digital rights management. Samsung has their Samsung Media Hub, at absolutely ridicously high prices compared to Netflix and Hulu Plus, already available on all Galaxy S phones and pads. The Droid Charge is a Galaxy S with LTE, updated screen technology (super AMOLDE Plus) and a slighly unusual shape. Net: I would ...

It has been reported to have 2GB of memory, still less than the Thunderbolt. The battery is a compromise been energy stored, weight, size, and cost. The cost of a 10% difference is pretty small, however, the weight and size can be very significant.

Will This Phone Support Netflix?
Mar 22, 2011, 12:23 AM

It is a DRM issue. iPhone and Windows Mobile support it. The LG Revolution a new version Qualcomm Snapdragon, still based on the A8 Cortex, was shown with Netflix. However Samsung is using Samsung's own Humminbird version of the A8 Cortex. As you would expect from a video company vs. a datacomm company, Samsung's version has had better graphics. Enough better that a v2.1 Hummingbird runs smoother than a v2.2 Snapdragon. However, does the Hummingbird have the hardware for DRM? Did ...

V710 and mobile Phone Tools Multimedia interface???

When I bring up mobile Phone Tools, it correctly shows an image of a V710, cute, however it doesn't allow be to download pictures, bad. Very bad! And although the phone appears in the folder list, the stored images don't appear in the WIndows explorer. Does anyone know how to get mobile Phone Tools or Windows to see the pictures on a V710? Thanks, David

Mobile Phone Tools contains the driver but doesn't install it correctly. The fix: 1. Install MPT and update repeatedly until all the updates are installed (currently 2.21f, however that may change). Do not install the phone from MPT when it asks. 2. Go to Control Panel/Add Hardware. Let it find the phone. 3. When it asks where to find the driver, select the option to tell it the directory. Then point it to the directory "inf" in the Mobile Phone Tools directory. This ...

Ok, I have a V710. And the feature I like best is the voice recognition. It is outstanding. And I have the HF800 Bluetooth speakerphone and the HF820 Bluetooth headset. And they both are cool. The mic and speakers could be better though. Combined with the V710s voice recognition (this VR is years ahead of anything I've ever seen) it provides an unmatched handsfree experience. Now the problem. I would like the sync the phone's phonebook and calendar with Outlook. And ...
