Re: Great job Apple, more technological waste!
I would hope that some company (it certainly won't be apple) will come out with a reverse adapter... basically you could insert an adapter into an existing 30-pin dock that will then hold a new iPhone5 or new iPod touch. One that mimics one of the older models in shape so that the dock still gives it support.
But I agree, apple's need to control everything has created a huge waste.
Re: The Patent Mafia
Seems like so many companies simply are simply think tanks that file hundreds of thousands of patents, then do nothing with them except wait for someone to 'infringe' upon them so they can sue.
Re: FCC=Voice of the People
I'll look at this decision like a typical politician...
I bought a bunch of Clearwire stock with the assumption that LightSquared would not get FCC approval, and therefore CLWR will pick up a bunch of the wholesale partners that LS signed up.
So my vote is with my wallet... NO!
FINALLY!
I've been waiting to upgrade from my Sprint TP2 to Android, but am not willing to get rid of my world phone capability.
If this has a full 5 row keyboard I am officially in love.
Nope...
Per the Engadget article this News Item linked to, 'but the global Nexus One and Desire are getting hooked up "later this summer."'
Per the geek.com article, 'The Nexus One will continue to be available through carriers including Vodafone in Europe and KT in Korea'
The US version is discontinued, but it is still produced and available in other markets.
Re: It is Sprint's fault, but in a different way...
Yah, I thought about these issues when I worked for Sprint and they started the Spending Limit program, wondered how the powers that be couldn't foresee the potential issues. Or maybe they didn't care, they only looked short-term as they didn't plan on being around when the negative aspects would hit.
Either way, as 'jaytv' on SprintUsers would say... 'Sprint, a Cadillac network driven by Yugo executives.'
Unfortunately, that couldn't be more true. Hopefully the new CEO can get ...
It is Sprint's fault, but in a different way...
ASL (Account Spending Limit) was a boon for Sprint in the short term, allowing them to sign up many millions of customers with no credit/bad credit. They were the first to offer this type of account without going prepaid.
The problem with that is simple (and short-sighted by Sprint): Customers with bad credit can't be trusted! They will run up their bills, get cut off, complain, pay late, and eventually get booted. Customers with no credit ...
You MUST be on the wrong plan!
There is no way you could switch to any other carrier and save money if you are on the correct plan, Sprint is the absolute cheapest (and they have very good coverage IMHO).
Do you have a 300 minute plan and use 1000 minutes? That is a problem!
I used to work for Sprint, don't know how many idiots came in complaining about there phone getting cut off every few days (idiot=bad credit=spending limit) because they went over their minutes. ...
