Re: How in the !* can this merger creat jobs???
The problem with that, is DT was looking to sell T-Mo before AT&T stepped up to buy them. Even if the merger doesn't go through, I don't see them being around much longer. Then everybody loses...
T-Mobile just isn't strong enough to compete against the other 3.
Re: We want subsidies, but no ETF's???
If half the people that are charged activation fees actually paid them, I would agree with you however they get them waived 60-70% of the time by the provider.
As far as you saying "that's a cost they have to eat themselves", it just sounds like you have something against large companies. If that's the case, that's fine but your argument should state that.
Concerning the restocking fee, that covers part of the cost for the equipment only and has absolutely ...
Re: We want subsidies, but no ETF's???
ETF does not just cover the subsidized cost of the device however.
Customers never take into account the cost of adding someone to their network. The amount of money it costs to activate a line, change anything related to their account and ultimately to cancel said line. There's a lot of man hours, network costs and such that you aren't thinking about. No carrier can afford to eat that cost every time, they would go out of business very quickly.
Re: without being mean
While I do not think that people who want smartphones without data plans are stupid, I find your reasons somewhat lacking for the most part.

There are several reasons why a person would have a pda with no data plan.
1. They want the status of having a glitzy expensive phone but do not feel the 30$ for data is worth it.
This is almost a valid reason, except most of the data phones that AT&T carries are much bulkier and ...
I think you've all forgotten something.....
AT&T is a privately owned company that reports to stockholders.
If you owned stock in AT&T, would you want the company to provide all the choices in the world to its consumers even though you would lose the money you invested into this company?
They're going to do what they can to make money. Verizon and Sprint have done this for months before now, yet you're calling AT&T the devil because it decided to follow suit?
If AT&T listened to some ...
BS
The IRS did not "seek public opinion" on this law, they just decided to re-enforce a law that was made in 1989. Then they heard a huuuuuuuge backlash and decided that it would probably be overthrown in congress anyway, so let's try to make ourselves look good..... jerks.
This law would really suck for those of us who work for certain companies and have company issued phones, since 25% of the usage would have to be reported as personal income. ...
Re: hopefully
for customers who keep breaking their phones. only so many you can buy at the increased price within a certain time frame. kinda sucked for the customer when you went to buy an iphone and you get told that you cannot. this will help them out a little
Re: Cheaper to pay ETF?
And that's about how much the company subsidizes for the phone every time someone buys it for the 2 or 3 hundred dollar price. those phones are NOT cheap (in price anyway).
Re: Why would it be?
I love it when this rumor comes up.
AT&T has exclusivity rights in the US for 5 years, it hasn't even been 3 years since that deal was made yet.
Re: X1
AT&T has exclusivity with Sony for quite a while now so I doubt it
