Great Phone

Oct 24, 2004 by bud9743

I love the LG 4015 it's a great little phone. Easy to handle, reception is great, nice size screen and a very easy phone to work with.
So compact I'm able to put it in my pocket and in places that should be quiet like court rooms, church or meetings I'm able to put it on vibrate and in my pant pocket and no one knows I have it or if I receive a call. Excellent phone!

Keep Looking... Experienced user

I have worked in the wireless industry for over five years, and have tried MANY different phones. Recently on my GSM phone I tried the LG G4015 phone out, and discovered it was much worse than I thought. I previously used a Nokia 6200 on my GSM network and went back to that. Basically the G4015 dropped calls where I never even faded on my Nokia. Also there is no outside caller ID display, and the sound on the phone is marginal. For about the same price you could get into a much better rated Motorola (the v180 or v220), get a better quality phone, with more features. I have seen too many of these (4015's) come back because of similar problems. As for the SOS, if you are in a good GSM area, this is any easy fix. Your local store (not dealer) should know how to fix this. While it COULD be a SIM card problem, it more than likely is not.

Nice Entry-Level Color Flip But Some Problems

Oct 13, 2004 by cjg

This is a decent phone. I got it when we switched to GSM.

Pros:

Small size (some might think this is a con)
Nice color display
Easy to use
Can download actual song bits for ringtones (MP3s or SuperTones, not sure which)

Cons:

Lackluster ringtones
So-so reception
Had to replace after 2 months (it wouldn't charge anymore)

SOS Problems? ** G4015

Oct 5, 2004 by orlando2004

I live in the heart of Orlando, FL where the signals are always strong and the towers are everywhere.

I purchased two G4015 phones from ATT one week ago and they are in SOS mode more than not. Several calls have been dropped. (This almost never happened with Sprint.) I called ATT and they advised that the SOS must be related to tower damage in our multiple hurricanes. This sounded good until I looked at the reviews on the NET. I discovered that my problem is wide spread in the country.

I returned the phones today and purchased two Motorola V180s. Wish us luck.

PS: SOS is the mode when the tower is full. The manual states nothing about SOS.

Works for me :)

I am blown away by all the bad reviews that I have seen for the c1300. I have had this phone for about a month now. Signal strength is great. (I have had only 1 dropped call since I've had it) The battery life and ring tone volume is great. This is my primary phone, and to have 1 dropped call as often as i use it is great.

The only drawbacks i can think of is that it is very easy to reject a call by hitting one of the side buttons accidentally. The phone is so small that I'm not sure where else they could stick function keys. This is not a big deal at all once you get used to it. Also I wish there were more ring tones but downloading more is always an option.

Personally I would recommend this phone. It is tiny which i love, is loud and clear, reasonably priced, has great battery life and looks really cool. I'm not sure if I'm just lucky or what, but I have had absolutely no problems with this phone. Most of the issues I have read by others seem to be service related NOT phone related.

LG 1300 "Reply to E-mail" Problem

Aug 28, 2004 by daveobieone

Luv the phone, hate the way it does e-mail.

There seems to be a problem in the way Cingular programs the SIM card in the LG C1300 phone that I have. I like the phone so far...it's just a touch less sensitive than my wife's Motorola V400, but the earpiece is louder, and that's very good.

The problem with the SIM card programming deals with the e-mail functions...
The option to "Send to E-mail" when trying to reply to e-mails I receive does not appear on the menu options list. The option to "Send to Number" does show up, but that does NOT send the e-mail reply to the person that sent it...I have no idea where it sends the message.

I've added the "Media Basics" package to the my phone service, thinking that I'd be using this more now. Unfortunately, since I am UNable to "reply" to any e-mail that I'm sent, the process is cumbersome to say the least.

One must manually enter the e-mail address of the person you wish to send every e-mail too, and you can't even save their e-mail address in the "address book" list...again (I suppose), because this ability isn't programmed into the SIM card...at least not (that I can find) on my phone.

On pages 46 and 48 of the C1300 manual, there are descriptions of e-mail procedures from the menu that just are not available the way Cingular has programmed this phone. At the bottom of the page it clearly states..."Shown only if supported by SIM card"...and the options just don't show up...even though it does seem that the phone is capable of them.

I'd strongly suggest that someone at Cingular read the manual for this phone (while trying to use it), and correct the messed up way that they are programming the SIM card.

Not being able to "Reply" to any e-mails you receive in a conventional fashion is just plain stupid. That would be the use I would make of the e-mail functions on any phone about 95% of the time.

Many Returns

I work for a national retailer that sells the c1300. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. I have had 10 of these returned since we started selling it. Some have been service issues; poor reception, dropped calls, Other Issues have been faulty speaker, low volume on ring tones and voice.
I Recommend the Samsung X427, this is the phone we have been switching our customers to, and we have not had any problems with it.

Features are nice, butt.....

I work in a Cingular store in Southern Illinois, we first received lg's 4010 and sold tons of them, after a couple months they started coming back one by one, for no signal, not charging, people would complain the volume of the ring would change without even flipping the phone open. so we quit selling them, cingular brought the lg 1300 to our "line up" Cute little phone i thought however i was very nervous about selling it in our area. we sold about 15 and pulled them off the shelf. The signal is horrible on these phones, my advice, over look the FREE sign and spend a little extra on an entry level flip phone.

Proceed with Caution

I bought this phone last week, as well as the Samsung e316, and the x426. I have used all 3 phones in Southern Calif. for a week. This phone is the weakest by far, having reception problems and dropping calls, repeatedly are HUGE problems.

If you read all the reviews, you see that people either love or hate this phone. I took a chance, and now have to return it. Oh well, .....proceed with caution.

Signal is Terrible

Aug 12, 2004 by redtreei

The only thing this phone has going for it is that its small and has a good user interface plus if you can get a reception the sound is great.

I added this phone as a second line. I've got a Nokia 6200 and this LG. The LG is constantly showing SOS or Emergency Only which means there is no signal but the kicker is I can get a signal on my Nokia.

2 days I took it back to the ATT store and they blamed the poor reception on the card saying they got a bad batch of them. Well it didn't fix the problem. Three weeks later I returned it for the Sony T637. By the way, the Sony gets great reception.

Upon returning the phone the sales person helping me said that during the past two weeks everyone who purchased the LG has returned it plus this store is no longer going to sell this model.

Bottom line: Buy this phone at your own risk. If you have a 30 day return policy don't exceed the 30 days.
