ehhh

Oct 26, 2004 by mattman2568

This phone is good but some aspects are awful. The speaker is the worst I have ever had. It is impossible to hear even with the volume up all the way! Also the external display is hard to read and when you change the contrast so its easier to read, it goes back to the original state when the phone is shut off and on again!

PROS-nice, sleek look, good reception, really good battery life, sturdy feel.

CONS-This is my second one of theses phones because after about 3 months it died randomly so i had to buy a new one, AWFUL backgrounds, and with the ring tones there is the "bell" category and the "melody" category and it took me 2 months to see that you had a totally different selection of ring tones.

BAD PHONE!!!

Love At First Beep

This is just as much a review for Metro PCS as it is for Audiovox. The 8900 is really an awesome piece of hi-tech, and this is not another "for the money" apologies, I'm very, very picky about what I spend $$$ on and so it goes without saying that you should't have to have a sliding scale for "low end" products. If it sucks, it sucks, regardless of what you paid for it. In the 8900's case, you are getting quality, period. Oh, are you the sort who associates "simple" plastic with poor workmanship? I was one of those... and that is where you have to make peace with yourself... For how much more consumer satisfaction will "complex plastic" get you? Think about it...

BEST HONE IVE EVER HAD

Oct 12, 2004 by marekthetitan

I work for T-mobile and so i get to test the new phones when they come out, this is the best cdma phone ive ever had. I tested the pictures against my friends motorola v300 and mine turned out way better. The only downside to this phone is that cricket does not offer internet...yet. I keep checking on it and they are supposed to have it by the end of the year.

Pros: Speaker phone works better than most,
nice design.

Cons: Cant have ring tones yet without buying cable, cdma,

The best phone I have ever had

I bought this phone in february and had it until august till it was stolen. It was the best phone that I have ever had. I found a trick to get real music tones on it for free. First you record a song on memo recorder and send it as a pic message. save it to media folder and you can use it as a ringer.

Poor Quality Control

Aug 31, 2004 by muzsicman

Phone has to be the poorest quality I ever have seen. Yes it has cool features and display but I have already replaced this phone once for broken buttons the headset connection breaking. I now have another problem-the outside LCD screen just cracked. I didn't throw it on the floor there are marks on it it just cracked! Now it seems I'll have to pay $50 to replace it..Don't buy this phone!

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS PHONE!!!

I would give it a 6.7 if I could but that is not a option. My friend has this phone and I played with it all day today.I am in love with it.I think the ringtones are fine compared to the other cricket phones(especially the kyocera ke413).I love the ringtone that is a sad ringer.I love that it has Brew on it.I cant choose between the audiovox cdm-8900 or the motorola e310.If anybody knows which is better please let me know.

Well?

I decided to give this phone a 3 because it does offer some cool features.
The only REAL problem that I have had is the speakerphone/ringer volume.
It sucks!!!

Otherwise, the phone is easy to use, and doesn't drop calls. I live in the Detroit area, and I have never had a problem with this phone dropping calls. Yet, I have had a problem with missing calls due to the volume control on this phone.
It is even worse when you have the phone flipped open, it seems to go into mute mode for whatever reason.
I use this phone as my land line, and would recommend it.
The picture quality isn't the best, yet we all have to remember that this is a phone.

Its a very good PHONE, That's What I Wanted

I have enjoyed the 8900 very much. Very user friendly and easy to enter phonebook information. Amazing to me that most of the complaints that I have seen written have little to do with the PHONE but rather with the camera function or tower coverage issues. I've used the camera some and am very satisfied with it and the picture that it provides. The fact that it is a Tri-mode phone is a plus as I would like to have the best possible capability of receiving and making calls anywhere in SC. Verizon does a very good job of providing service here and since we are finally enjoying the benefits of some reciprocal service agreements between some of the providers, it's a further plus for us. I plan to get the stronger battery for this phone but I think the talk and standby time is very good with the battery that comes with it. Almost did not get a phone with a camera but I got this one at such a good deal that I'm going to use it. All in all Audiovox DOES makes a quality phone and there are very few con's about this phone that I have experienced.

Audiovox CDM-8900

I have the CDM-8900 with Verizon Wireless. I used to have the LG VX6000, but when I bought it I had no idea what tri-mode was, and had no service if I went on a major interstate (I-84). The LG had a better features, but here's what I think of the 8900:

Pros:
1. Can send messages (txt and pix) up to 10 people at one time.
2. Can hold up to 50 pictures plus programs
3. Tri-Mode
4. Fairly sleek looking.

Cons:
1. Camera has no zoom.
2. Phone only vibrates on two sound themes of the total 9 (Vibrate and High and Vibrate)
3. Not really a con, but if you download your own midi files, it only plays them for about 15-20 seconds (should play the whole thing)

not many options, but this is thankfully one!

If anyone's living in rural Minnesota, there's probably only one option for a carrier: Unicel. This is their latest stab at improving their line-up.

If people want a cutting-edge phone, this is probably their only option here, and ,thankfully, it's a great one.

PRO's:
Camera
Color
Design
Brew
Polyphonic Ringtones
Speakerphone

CON's:
no mobile web as of yet for Unicel customers

(I cannot send texts or picture messages yet, but it's an error that is being worked out)

I feel that the reception is better overall. Calls are nearly flawless in places they weren't before.

For Unicel customers, BREW, which is used to download games, ringers, and anything else is free until March 2005. Picture messaging is unlimited for eight dollars per month.

The price is very reasonable. It's two-year and one-year pricing, 129 and 179, respectively, is the same as Verizon's.

This is an incredible phone. Not just for Unicel and the rural Minnesota area, but on any scale.
