The Phone is a HUNK of DOODY!!! I wanted to love this phone so bad, but couldnt

So close to perfect but so FAR.

Outer display STINKS!
SPEAKERPHONE STINKS!
Phonebook setup stinks!

Can only check the time on outer display once every often. It wont light up again right way like a normal phone would.

GREAT PHONE

Dec 16, 2003 by jasondock

This phone is very good. Although the camera does not have the same amount of features as the 6000 does, it is still very good. It has a great looking front face and a wonderful speaker. Definitely a good pick!

ok but not all that

Jan 21, 2004 by ryan949

I have now had the phone for 2 weeks and am returning it. I first thought it was pretty good. Camera was ok, not great but ok. After all it's a phone not a camera right?
Here are the problems. The speaker for your ear is only half open. Unless you have the phone in the right position the person on the other end sound muffled. When you do have it right the voices sound "tinny" (not enough bass)In addition the sound tends to spike. One call loud the next soft I am forever adjusting the volume. Buttons are flat and hard to do while not looking at phone. user interface is poor. I had a v60 and voice dialing did not require as much work. speaker phone is ok if you are not in a car or loud area. V60 retained signals longer and better (Verizon Orange County 241, 71, and 73). I am going to try the new LG tri mode or go back to the V60.
Bottom Line: If you are not on the phone that much and need a tri mode with a camera it is good. Me? I'll continue to own just a phone and carry a camera separately.

Problems with CDM-8900

Feb 18, 2004 by Sagefive

My new CDM-8900 has a problem. The screen goes blank (white) and a message is displayed, "SRCH 00000" then reboots. This happens randomly. I took the phone back, they didn't know what it was. So they gave me another CDM-8900. This one is doing it too. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Also I think accessing and sending text messages require too many buttons to push. And lastly, Please get rid of the Power up/ down noise.

Bad Sound Quality

Feb 10, 2004 by dnater

This is a great full featured phone. With one large exception. The sound quality (at least on the one I got) is terrible.

The phone seemed to have huge dynamic range. Sometimes I couldn't hear and other times it was so loud I had to hold the phone away from my head. (This was within a few seconds.) The sound quality was also 'cheap' it always sounded like the other party was in a box or something. I returned the phone after 2 days, it was almost completely unusable IMHO.

I use Verizon in the Bay area.

An Ok Phone I Still prefer the VX6000

The Audiovox 8900 I have used on two service carriers now...Verizon Wireless and Metro PCS. I did like the reception however I myself was more of an all digital type of guy. But overall it's not a horrible phone but then again it's not a great phone. It's a phone that's worth for it's price on Verizon Wireless...but the 239 on Metro oh man...just stick with the Nokia 2270 people. The camera quality, sound quality, reception everything is just average...I could just say that I've had better

Why?

Feb 12, 2004 by Banaboi19

I personally use this phone with Verizon service. the phone is just basic, nothing stands out great on this phone. I do have one question though. Why does Verizon keep putting the same phones out that Metro PCS uses? Thats the sole reason im giving up my 8900. Metro gives all their phones a bad rap. Try again Verizon

Audiovox can't make good phones.
