I do not recommend this phone!

Nov 17, 2008 by marmar99

I have had this phone HTC Touch V6900 since April 2008. At first I wanted to like this phone so much that I overlooked some small glitches. (When I pushed the button and swept my thumb up - to get my phone number icon pictures - the time change function came on - and still does. If you call to listen to voice mail or call a number where you will need to enter number for an extension - the keypad does not automatically come up and sometimes I have had to hang up and redial because it was not even available.) I though I just didn't know how to use the phone yet.

Those are still issues 8 months later. Now it will not play video on youtube. It has had the red, green, striped screen 3 times (has go be reset). It is very difficult to do anything on the web the screen is just to small and the 'touch' scrolling from side to side does not work well. I still can't send pictures very well - it just isn't easy to use. Forget trying to see the screen in sunlight. If you accidentally bump the camera button, it is very difficult to get out of the picture feature. (Push the red 'end call' button, but it will go off and then just come back on.)

I got this phone through Alltel. I found the internet so frustrating that I wanted to end that part of my service - but I called Alltel and they said that I could not discontinue paying to access the internet for the full 2 years. They did not tell me that when I signed-up and I still cannot find it on their web site.

There have been no software upgrades.

They only positive thing I can say about the phone is that is was free to me when I got it. (President's day deal on-line.) But it will not be free to replace it.

I took the phone into the Alltel store today. They opened the cover and said the phone had been in water - it hasn't. They will do nothing. They have me over a barrel $175 x3 to end service. I'm unhappy - they don't care and they have no incentive to care.

i wasnt a fan of tha 6800... but then when i got this phone as a refurbed insurance replacement, i was sickened... no effin keyboard...

pros- touch ui is alright... better than tha 6800...

cons- no wifi
no colapsable stylus
no keyboard...
no flash on tha cam.... boooo
small... perfect for females but not tha big black guy...
battery life just as $#!++% as b4... i gotta recharge it during lunch... and im not supposed to have anything hooked up in my office so i have to hide it...

basically im just waitin to "lose" this one so i can get tha touch diamond or pro...

i loved this phone when i first bought it, but then it started giving me issues, turning off by itself, hanging up on calls randomly... just freezing while talking... processor way too slow... so I'm not a happy camper anymore...

DO NOT BUY!!!!

This was the worst piece of crap ive ever held in my hand, i customized this thing to no end and it still sucks, there was a good 1/4 second of lag when dialing numbers, which is frustrating, thier "touch flo"- absolute crap, when your on the web and trying to use it 9/10 times it will highlight text instead of scroll, truely a wana be iPhone, also, i have it on USC, and i believe this to be the phones problem because i never had this problem with my old phone, no exaduration, 1/4 times when i answered someone it wouldnt work, whether i hit the green button or the touch screen, and the main problem in my belief, NO CALIBRATION TO FINGER SIZE, i have a medium sized thumb and i never had a problem on my friend's qwerty's or my iTouchs, but this was just hell, also i bought myself an 8gb sd card, installed it, and tried loading music, it said you cant put the music on the sd card because it makes it a different folder, so really unless everytime you want to listen to music, you feel like waiting an hour for the songs to transfer from the card to the device, theres no point, most idiodic piece of shi* ever, do not buy, save yourself the horror, if there is a pro, its knowing why it didnt sell for shi* in europe.

Beware of this one thing...maybe two things

I'm returning my second Touch, before the 1st thirty days is up and I'm getting a Blackberry 8330.

Pros: The Touch does everything that you would want from a touch phone.

Cons:
Although I had major issues with reception and the Nav feature, the local store swapped me out of the first one and the problems were resolved.
If you considering this phone and you have had issues with accidental abuse of any phones in the past, BEWARE! This phone is EXTREMELY FRAGILE. The touch screen can be damaged just by carrying it in your pocket/ outside of the leather pouch that comes with it!!! By all means, pay the extra $7/ month and get the insurance on it. This is a must!
Secondly, I downloaded and installed WM 6.1 from the HTC site on both phones. It may be my imagination but the phone didn't seem to work as well, after I upgraded.
It appears that programs that you launch do not shut down when you close them and you have to go to Start/Settings/System (Tab) and "stop" running programs. to save battery life.

Disappointing....

Pros: 1. Small design 2. Nice screen 3. Nice Interface

Cons: 1. Battery life (better buy a car adapter with this phone) 2. Locks up constantly (get ready to reset often through out the day) 3. Slow response between screens 4. The Touch Kepad and Keyboard don't work with the 3rd party applications I tried.

I had this phone for 2 weeks now and have been very disappointed with the device; the device appears to be getting worse as time goes on. It's slowed down, the response between screens is terrible, it's beginning to lockup constantly, the call quality is great most of the time, the features are fun but for a business phone it just doesn't do the job. I'm a Network Manager and depend on email quite a bit, which means the data connection is active most of the time, hence the battery drain.

Conclusion: Returning it to Verizon and waiting for the Palm 800w or Pro; To bad I enjoyed the display

Watch Out iPhone!!

Sprint Touch

I bought this phone on Dec 26, I returned this phone on Jan 5th. In that time period, I had to manually do 2 hard resets to get the phone to work, and the phone did 2 hard resets on its own. This wiped everything and I had to start all over again. I also had to do about 8 soft resets. Those I could live with since I don't loose anything. There was about 3 days that I didn't have any problems and I loved using the phone. The interface was great and once I learned how to use it, I loved it. If the phone just worked more consistantly, I would have loved to keep it. Now I'm trying the Palm Centro and not sure I like it much better. I'm think it might be better to go back to just a regular phone, and carry a PDA as well.

not worth it

I was waiting for my contract to run out so I could go and buy this phone , I woke up and was outside the sprint store before it opened and as soon as I got this phone in my hand was let down right off the bat . I was holding the phone in my hand just looking at the screen touching nothing and withing no time random apps started to launch and they would not close when I tried to close them , seems very buggy and turned me off right them and there , for the money and time this phone has been out in the UK you would think they would fix the bugs . I ended up going with the Palm Centro because I know Palm makes stable products

the only thing the HTC has going for it is looks
