tarch submitted this review of the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

First of all, I actually like this phone. The form factor, screen and material are very good. I've been happy without a physical keyboard for a while.

However, I am going on phone #5. I've had 4 of these fail on me, all due to touchscreen issues. I have also had issues with the dialer pulling random numbers from my contacts instead of numbers I punch in. I have been blown away that Sprint keeps sending out these lemons.

I know this phone is a little dated, but I would recommend anyone to stay away from this phone. I am very hesitant going HTC in the future.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The touch screen sensor went out. I restarted the phone because it locked up on me and now its stuck on a screen that says align the screen. What do I do?? I can't touch on the screen because it's not working and the buttons won't work for that option. Somebody please help!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

stickus.zen submitted this review of the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

This has been a decent little device for the last several months (got it used from a buddy who upgraded to iPhone, lucky bast*rd). Was NOT very impressed with the standard WM 6.0 that it came with, but thankfully HTC and Bell Canada (my provider) have a free update to WM 6.1. That made a significant difference for me, longer battery life and more stability. Eventually I got jealous of folks that had Touch-Flo on their devices. Found a custom ROM @ xda-developers.com (NFSFan you ROCK!) and flashed to that. BIG DIFFERENCE!! This had been my standard OS on this beast for the last few months.

Now however, there is a new player in town... Google's Android OS. Now, before I get flamed, it's NOT feature complete on the Vogue, as Bluetooth doesn't work yet and there is no mic for apps. However, everything else works: Android Market for apps, all my Google Apps sync like a charm, the camera works great (no video yet, but it's on the way). Battery life leaves something to be desired but my battery is old and tired anyway :) All in all I have been VERY impressed with what Android can do on this little device. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

http://code.google.com/p/vogue-android/

*** NOTE: Installing/Running Android is not for the faint of heart. Be sure to backup any data on your memory card before running it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

phoneguy505 submitted this review of the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

i recently got this phone, it does everything that i really need it to do but sometimes it can be difficult to do those things. before i got this phone a while back i had the moto q9c it was a good phone but the windows based just really bothered me on how much i had to go in and "kill" running programs. i figured i would give windows another chance since they have 6.1 now, and it didn't disapoint, so i will deffenitly get windows based now. some pros of the phone is...
i like that you have the option to choose whether to use stylus or finger, i also like that in Most cases you can use your finger but there are some applications that work best with stylus.
gets good reception.
3d cube is just plain awesome.
the new app that you can download to send pics.
nice speaker quality (good for listening to music)
internet is good.
the weather slider is cool to.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

crayolaguru submitted this review of the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Pity my particular phone went kaput, waiting on a replacement as I write this.

As for the common complaints/improvements list for this phone, the update to Windows Mobile 6.1 fixes almost all of them. There's a link in the forums, with installation instructions to boot. It adds a large fullscreen keyboard, threaded text messaging, a contacts list with a finger friendly letter bar AND Opera Mobile (no, no, no not Opera Mini, the FULL web browser that allows touch dragging of pages, iPhone-esque) just to name a few. Add Rev A data, you've got a winner. Sprint also made a free update to allow picture messaging, so

I've gotta say that I loved this phone while I had it, pro's are definitely -
Full touchscreen done well
all the fixes above
signal strength and call quality were on par
TouchFlo Cube
microSD slot for tunes
stereo bluetooth
changeable keyboard (going from t9 to pearl layout to fullscreen is a snap, and the predictive word entry is almost spot on after only a few days)
cons-
that I got a lemon...
mine would freeze getting calls, getting sms'es, needed three full wipes of the handheld and countless power cycles in a period of two weeks just for basic use. I know this isn't typical, I have some friends who have the phone as well, but after all is said and done I can't wait to get it back.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jtc8008 submitted this review of the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Pros:
*Great Reception
*Slim, lightweight and comes with nice leather case, headphones, adapters, and small memory card. (Sprint)
*Touch interface responds accurately
*Volume is Loud and has better sound quality than the HTC Mogul 6800.
*Windows Mobile 6.1 includes GPS Navigation (Had to download the update)
*TV works well and Internet works just like desktop with Opera Mobile or Skyfire (Seperate Downloads)
*Picture Mail Finally works on WM6.1
*Phone reacts faster to button presses than the 6800 and new Touch Pro and Touch Diamond. Those phones are a little laggy.

Cons
*Touch Flow only shows contacts and other shortcuts with finger scrolling. Can't be customized unless downloading third party Application.
*Texting is difficult unless you download a full screen keyboard application. ( I just use the stylus)
*No flash on Camera
*Camera looks great when setting not in Auto Mode. Auto mode makes colors not accurate. However when manually adjusting color pictures look great.
*No full browser support that will allow java based games and videos to work perfectly. Apparently we have to wait for a new browser.

Overall it's my favorite phone I've had. Looks more stylish and smaller than the Mogul but does the same things better. I might upgrade to the Pro, but only thing is better is the camera and keyboard.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

marmar99 submitted this review of the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900:

Overall rating: 0 (out of 5)

I have had this phone HTC Touch V6900 since April 2008. At first I wanted to like this phone so much that I overlooked some small glitches. (When I pushed the button and swept my thumb up - to get my phone number icon pictures - the time change function came on - and still does. If you call to listen to voice mail or call a number where you will need to enter number for an extension - the keypad does not automatically come up and sometimes I have had to hang up and redial because it was not even available.) I though I just didn't know how to use the phone yet.

Those are still issues 8 months later. Now it will not play video on youtube. It has had the red, green, striped screen 3 times (has go be reset). It is very difficult to do anything on the web the screen is just to small and the 'touch' scrolling from side to side does not work well. I still can't send pictures very well - it just isn't easy to use. Forget trying to see the screen in sunlight. If you accidentally bump the camera button, it is very difficult to get out of the picture feature. (Push the red 'end call' button, but it will go off and then just come back on.)

I got this phone through Alltel. I found the internet so frustrating that I wanted to end that part of my service - but I called Alltel and they said that I could not discontinue paying to access the internet for the full 2 years. They did not tell me that when I signed-up and I still cannot find it on their web site.

There have been no software upgrades.

They only positive thing I can say about the phone is that is was free to me when I got it. (President's day deal on-line.) But it will not be free to replace it.

I took the phone into the Alltel store today. They opened the cover and said the phone had been in water - it hasn't. They will do nothing. They have me over a barrel $175 x3 to end service. I'm unhappy - they don't care and they have no incentive to care.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

adrenaline0210 submitted this review of the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Ok lets start from the past. Always had high end phones and then figured id switch to the pda world. Got about a yr ago a samsung i760. Great phone quality however very buggy and touch screen was almost useless due to the fact it is recsesed into the phone. Went through 3 of them until I switched to the touch.
By far I am very happy with it. Don't listen to the posts complaining about battery and what not. There are many hacks you can do to these phones by searching through the forums. I have mine setup just like the new diamond and it is a lot more functional. Everyone that i show my phone to is in aww.

Pros:
- Touch screen is perfect
- call quality is really nice
- wm6.1 after you find which ROM you want to use is superior
- useability to upgrade the phone interface to your liking.
- Does have GPS built in however Verizon cripples it so do some forum digging and be brave and you can unlock it.
- HTC brand is very nice quality.
- one of the only phones that i feel confident I will keep for 2 yrs, and thats a shock coming from me, usually swap my phone every yr or shorter.

Cons:
- somewhat slippery, so if your not careful u will drop it alot. Get a rubberized sleeve case and ull be all set.
- Cant really think of anything else

Battery: I get a day out of mine with heavy texting, email, internet and playing. There is a hack in wich you get much better battery life out of it, that I have installed. Another key thing is dont have programs auto update like weather or email. If you set your email to auto synch all the time with the server you will cut your battery litteratly in half. If you want to read email just click send / recieve and your good.

Get unlimited Data plan, dont get screwed with outragous charges that I hear pple getting all the time.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

chocolateman85006 submitted this review of the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I'm reviewing this phone. I bought it for my wife, and I almost wish I had one (the lack of a keyboard is the ONLY thing that stops me).

Cons:
Adding phone numbers seems to be a pain in the butt.

Pros:
Over 100MB of user memory!
Can handle SDHC cards (i.e. 4GB and more).
Awesome camera and video.
Endless goodies
Good call clarity.
Texting and e-mail are easy, once ya get the hang of it.
Windows Mobile 6.1 is a pro, in and of it self (Blackberry and Palm couldn't even dream of making a phone like this).

I, myself, am waiting to give my Treo 700w up for the upcoming Touch Pro. If the lack of a keyboard doesn't bother you, like it does me, I'd highly recommend this phone!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Phone freezes. Battery won't last more than Half a day. Gets very hot when you talk on it. I changed the battery twice on it and still freezes on me. I took it back to Sprint and they won't even want to look at it. I fully charge it then when I turn the power on , nothing happens. This is a worthless phone.....I won't recommend it at all.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Eddie333 submitted this review of the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

First and foremost if you have this phone or are planning on buying it you need to immediately upgrade the o/s to windows mobile 6.1 Pro. This update is available at http://www.htc.com/us/support.aspx . The 2 most notable upgrades are a full qwerty touch keyboard and the Opera browser. Before the upgrade texting on this phone is literally mission impossible, afterward it becomes much easier, but still not the best. The opera browser is the shiz! It's smooth, fast and reliable plus it lets you do youtube vids. Enough said right? Get the upgrade! Because this phone is windows based you can pretty much do whatever you want to it. Everything from customizing the cube to your background is customizable. TV on the phone is not great. The quality does not compare to the mogul, but its good enough. Telenav works superbly on this thing. Speaker is Great. No Wifi, no worries! No flash for camera, pretty much renders the camera useless in a dark or poorly lit setting. To wrap it up here the pros and cons list.

Pros:
-Small and sexy
-2.0 camera
-blue tooth capable
-all in all pretty much a mogul minus the full qwerty keyboard and wifi.
-opera browser

Cons:
-Texting is tough
-no light for camera
-wakes up randomly from sleep mode when charging

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I have been a pda user for over 4 years now and will not go back to another "standard" phone... My back ground is in the cell phone field and I get to play with all the phones. My previously phones were, xv6700, Moto Q, xv6800, Black Berry Curve, xv5800, and by far this phone is the cats meow! Some will say "well it doesn't have a qwerty keyboard"... I say nay, look on-line and you will find one from free - $10. memory is larger then my others, I do miss the wifi, and the one handed quick button setup that the xv6800 had. But I wouldn't go back. All in all if you are a pda junkie GET THIS PHONE!!

Pros:
-Larger memory
-Smaller design
-One handed with ease phone meant to be used with fingers not stylus but it does come with one.
-8 gigs memory (external Memory)
-voice quality and volume clear and loud
-THE CUBE (get it and you will find out about that one.)
-Contact list has a scroll you flick with your finger and it glides up no need for a stylus.

Cons:
-no flash on camera.
-doesn't come with qwerty touch program.
-no Wifi.
-tough to get to external memory port.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

papernpaste submitted this review of the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I'm returning my second Touch, before the 1st thirty days is up and I'm getting a Blackberry 8330.

Pros: The Touch does everything that you would want from a touch phone.

Cons:
Although I had major issues with reception and the Nav feature, the local store swapped me out of the first one and the problems were resolved.
If you considering this phone and you have had issues with accidental abuse of any phones in the past, BEWARE! This phone is EXTREMELY FRAGILE. The touch screen can be damaged just by carrying it in your pocket/ outside of the leather pouch that comes with it!!! By all means, pay the extra $7/ month and get the insurance on it. This is a must!
Secondly, I downloaded and installed WM 6.1 from the HTC site on both phones. It may be my imagination but the phone didn't seem to work as well, after I upgraded.
It appears that programs that you launch do not shut down when you close them and you have to go to Start/Settings/System (Tab) and "stop" running programs. to save battery life.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
