Great Phone

Mar 19, 2008 by DanteUnreal

In looking at a Sprint replacement for my A900 that has worked flawlessly, I was looking for something as/nearly as thin, and this fits.

In 4 months, no crashes, maybe 1 or 2 soft resets (no different than my iPAQ).

I am using it as my PDA, MP3 player, phone and portable games. It's great!

Pros:
Size
Memory
Expansion
Signal (only Sprint works in our DC area office)
Screen
No Keyboard

Cons:
no Wi-Fi

I do not recommend this phone

Despite all the fancy attractive features of this phone, the most basic feature of the phone- to be able to receive calls- is defective. The phone would regularly not ring when someone was calling, would not even register the missed calls, and sometimes if it did ring, it would be delayed- after the person had hung up 5 minutes earlier or ring for a second and then end before you could answer.
When I could be reached on the phone, I could never hear the caller properly.

The user face was very fiddly to use, in terms of dialing a simple call or texting. The "buttons" were not big enough for a finger and if your finger would touch the wrong part of the screen even slightly, it would immediately change interface. It would take far too long and too many steps for different things. Just to make a simple phone call took time and patience.

In general, this is not a user friendly phone in the slightest and is highly overrated.

The Beast

Mar 18, 2008 by greg14dukeu

Hello world, this phone is a beast, I love it, Ive had for three months now a have not had any major probs yet this is my 4th pda ive had 6700, 6800 Mogul, ipaq 6515 and now this one. at first i didnt think i would get used to the small size of bc i have big hands but its perfect. I got mine tricked out with the iphone interface.

Pros: light, smooth, rubber glove, loud speaker, cool camera, fast web browsing.

Cons: no wi-fi, no keyboard

Bought it, modding it like crazy

If you put the time into all the little goodies available for it, this phone is the best sprint has to offer right now.

If you expect it to be an iPhone killer right out of the box you're gonna be sorely disappointed. The beautiful thing about windows mobile over apples os is that you can make it into WHATEVER you wish. I have my touch modded to do nearly everything the iphone does (except of course pinch zooming etc). However i put the hours into searching online, using the plug ins, going through the frustrations etc.

The evdo is super fast, you wont even miss the wifi. Camera is good (bummer about no flash though). Volume is above average (coming from a sanyo 9000 is tough that thing ROCKED for sound).Battery life is decent also, but dont forget this is a mini computer. I've used moguls and the BIGGEST improvement is the faster processor speed and stability.

I recommend:
Lazyboy iphone interface (or Grumps if you want something simpler)
touchpal keyboard
TCPMP media player

I have a 4gb microsd but i've read posts stating that the sandisk 8gb works in it.

Hope that helps!

Great Phone

I received this phone about 3 weeks ago and it has done everything I wanted it to and more. I've had no problems with reception, calls dropping or freezing up. Because it has an internal antenna, you do have to be careful how you hold it.

I wasn't thrilled with the HTC Sprint Today screen or the Touch Flo, so I switched to SPB Pocket Plus and it works great. I adjusted to the lack of keyboard by installing a full screen software keyboard. I also added a non glare screen protector.

If you go to the forums you will see several software add ons that enhance the phone greatly. I also installed a key swapping utility so I can pick what the softkeys do.

As to the Windows Mobile, I like it, there's a lot of software out there and it works well.

Pros:
Plenty of memory
Windows Mobile
Good camera
Good call quality
Easy to carry
Rubberized body

Cons
no keyboard like the Mogul
Nav key isn't definable

WOW

Love the new phone. I work for an alltel authorized agent and we just got the phone on the 11th. I had the 6800 and after seeing the size difference i had to get the touch. The only reason i gave it a 4.5 is that the keyboard is a little harder to use but other than that it's amazing! Runs real smooth.

Best PDA to date

This is great device no matter what any noob says in here! Isn't it funny how the only people that have anything negative to say are the ones that sign up the same day as the review? That's kinda fishy if you ask me.

I've had every pda from verizon to now sprint and this blows them outa the water. The user interface from HTC is great. I have bigger hands and have no problem typing. The keyboard I thought was going to be horrible but actually easier and faster to type on than the mogul. The reception is great in my area unlike "previous carrier". Battery life is fantastic and twice the memory as previous PDA devices. HTC has also released a customizable screen where you can change weather location, screen icons, more tabs and a mess of other goodies. All in all I'm very happy.

For the AVERAGE Joe.

Pros

Great Reception and Call Quality.
GREAT BT.
Fast, Responsive.
Good Onscreen Keyboard. Needs SOME getting used to but quick to get used to.
GREAT with DATA. No need for WiFi with Sprint's EVDO.
Sprint TV.
On Demand.
Hardly any need for Stylus.

Cons
No Flash on Camera.
Still WM6 beneath the TouchFlo, but most of the time you won't even need it.
No TRUE GPS, but there is Windows Live Search and Google Maps.
