Best CDMA I've used

Jan 19, 2008 by nauticalfla

I used to work in the wireless industry, mainly with GSM phones. I recently upgraded to the chocolate because its style and function met my needs. I agree and disagree with some of the reviews made. Please keep in mind that with any new release, there will be some bugs that need to be worked out.

Pro's
Loud speaker phone (Great for conversation during rush hour traffic)
Thin and light (Its no moto sldr but still love it)
Nice screen resolution
Easy to use features (menu, etc)
Easy to use blue tooth pairing
Good over all voice quality
Decent camera (come on, its a cell phone, you're not going to be snapping any award winning fashion shots)
Caller ID announcing ring option (perfect for screening calls :-) )
Easy texting with WORD, function similar to NOKIA T9 text prediction

Cons
Bluetooth does not auto turn off when external device is off
Poor ringtone and wallpaper selection
Voice command number repeat annoying "when sober," I KNOW WHO I AM CALLING, THANKS FOR REMINDING ME.

(Still playing with the music player. I'll have comments on that later)

LG VX-8550 is my favorite phone!!

Jan 2, 2008 by klwdhw

I have had this phone 4 times now. I've tried several newer phones that Verizon has come out with, but in my opinion they do not compare to the Chocolate 8550.

Pros:
- Camera takes great pics
- Easy to use
- Fits nicely in pocket
- Great battery life
- Call quality is excellent
- Loud ringers
- Music player is awesome
- Bright color screen
- Clear speaker phone

Cons:
- Wish it came in pink

Overall, I would recommend this phone to everyone! It's cute & stylish & very light weight.

Wonderful Phone, I recommend it to most!

I work with phones all day (for a certain carrier that shall remain nameless) And i sell these phones all day long.

With that here's what I've seen after owning my phone for over 2 months:

Pros
Camera is very good for not having a flash
The battery is pretty good, with alot of texting, i only end up needing to charge every 2 days
the screen is awesome
The OS is set up very well and easy to navigate.
The touch buttons are very responsive (for the most part, more later)
the spin wheel works wonders, makes navigating so much less of a pain
Call Volume is pretty good
the end key is where it belongs, what was lg thinking on the first one??

Cons
After having the phone a while the touch sensitive buttons have begun to lag a bit when i slide the phone open

The music speaker could be louder in loud environments

nothing else bad about this phone

I recommend this to everyone who isn't impatient enough to work with touch sensitive buttons and those who want an awesome all around non-PDA phone

so i really dont think it is fair to put a review after only having the phone for a week or 2 let alone a few days and scoring it down just because you find 1 thing inconvenient about it. ive had the phone for a few months now and i can really say that i enjoy the phone a lot. i had the old chocolate and this one came out to be A LOT nicer...

pros between the old phone...
+design is slimmer
+touch sensitivity is smoother
+touch has a vibrate feature
+battery is MUCH better
+the navigation wheel is very convenient
+there is a 2.5 headphone jack
+the send and end keys are on the keypad
+camera takes better pictures

cons with this phone (not comparing to the old one)
-the music still displays in alphabetical order
-the charging port is on the side

for the 4 months i have had this phone i have really enjoyed it a lot and would recommend it for people that may think the enV is too big of a phone and wants something that will have all the options of a VZW phone.

Not too shabby

I just got this phone yesterday, in midnight blue. It is a great looking phone and the more I use it the more I am getting used to it. I did not get the Vcast package or VZ Navigator or anything like that. Just phone and texting ability. Not even mobile web. How boring am I.......

Anyway, the first problem I see is when I go into voicemail and enter my password, that password displays in really huge font on my screen. Does anyone know how to make that stop? I'm headed off to the Verizon store at lunch to see if that can be fixed.

Other than that, so far so good. I'm not a heavy user, so hopefully my battery life will be good.

Chocolate is great!

I recently had the enV, and everyone looks at it and thinks it's so great. well its not. if you're huge one texting like me and send about 14,000 a month or even 4,000 it freezes, turns itself off, won't send messages, and worse

but now i have the chocolate, and i love it.! it's great. i do miss the keyboard but i have fast fingers on anything so it does not matter.

pros:
Sleek, lightweight
Crystal clear camera under certain lighting
Crisp screen picture
Nice, Loud ringtones.
Good for music
Nice loud earpiece
Sends messages without hassle
Durable
easy touch buttons

cons:
battery life
natural scratches, which bother me only

the best ever

Great phone

The phone is awesome. The keyboard is small but I still prefer it over a qwerty board... that's just me. I love how I can use this phone for everything. I even shop at Amazon on this phone and check my bank account via Verizon's Mobile Web.

Pros:
Spin wheel gives great functionality for quick menu scrolling.

Bigger screen and slimmer profile than it's predecessor

Durable; believe it or not (I've dropped it at least three times, once in the rain).

Excellent battery life. I charge it every two days.

Easiest phone to download music to.

Good sounding speaker but the real treat is the playback when jacked to your vehicle or on headphones.

Playing a song is now a voice command. Awesome!!!

Voice command is very responsive.

Cons:
Horrible algorithm regarding the shuffle, but it seems to be better when you have a lot of songs. Just don't turn the shuffle on while on a playlist.

Small keyboard but it is not that hard to text on; quit whining.

Wheel not usable to raise volume, forward through a track nor menu scrolling while on VCast.

Other than that, I have to say this phone is the best I've had.
