the new LG chocolate is great
The new LG Chocolate compared to the old one is by far more better. I'm glad that they finally fixed the end button and send button. so now after i put my phone in my pocket after a text message or something, it doesn't randomly call people anymore, haha. the new scroll-wheel has helped a lot too. especially when i text. i use Abc, so i would use the sensor pad to move over, and sometimes it would send on accident lol. but now with that scroll-wheel. the text also looks a lot more clearer too, so that is a plus. volume and everything is good too. the only thing that i am not used to is that new send button on the number pad area, i'm always hitting the new SPEAKER key, haha :/ but i'll eventually get used to it. the battery life also seems to be better too, much. and everytime you hit the SPEAKER key or CLEAR key, or the two above. they vibrate, which is quite interesting. haha i don't mind it, but ify ou don't like that, you can always just turn it off. hope this review was helpful. peace.

Bad slider - please check before purchase
I have had a Motorola E815 for the past 2 years and have been waiting to get a new music player capable cell phone and which is compact and has good features (we all know Verizon has limited decent phones).
I was delighted to see the new and improved LG chocolate and I decided to take the plunge and get this phone and sign a new 2 year contract. I loved the phone for the 2 days that I had but eventually had to return it due to the faulty slider mechanism. The springs at the back got loose and the phone would just slide up and down without any resistance. I went to replace the phone and the VZW store said that they would not give me a new LG vx8550 because the entire shipment has problems with the slider and would not make sense to replace it and might take up to Dec to get a fresh stock.
I am not sure if this is a problem in my area but this totally ticked me off - finally a decent phone but comes with manufacturer defects.
Anyway I hope ppl who plan to purchase this phone be satisfied with the slider before purchasing the phone.

PROS
- Great Display
- Touch buttons and track wheel work well
- MP3 player - manages music well (genre, playlists etc)
- compact
- good speaker phone
- Easy and good blue tooth connections
CONS
- Feels very delicate
- Bad slider
- No FM radio
- 1.3MP camera
LG VX8550 (Chocolate)
Everyone has pretty much already nailed the PROS on this phone.
The only CON I have is that 2 out of 3 new units out of the box so far have a terrible habit of not locking into place when the phone is snapped into the slide open position. These plastics did not hold for more then about ten open/shut slides. This phone will probably hold heavy returns/exchanges for manufacturer defects just like the 8500 did.
Unless you get the insurance PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!
OKay Phone
My cousin has recently gotten this phone and its kinda good. the thing that i noticed when i was playing with it is that the navigation wheel was pretty loose and the slider was a little sturdy.
i thought the slider on the old chocolate was more secure. but the phone looks badass.

Most of the Pros are still as such...
but the problems I had made it impossible for me to keep this phone.
1) I only had owned 1 LG prior and my suspicions have grown stronger that LG just has terrible reception in general!
2) The touchpad on top is way TOO sensitive. It makes operating menus difficult and even when reciving messages, way too easy to hit the wrong option if you can't keep your fingers off of it. LOL!
3) The camera takes pretty good pictures BUT even for my slim fingers, (I'm a female here) I can't keep from the touch pad screwing it up. Too small of a center button to operate when touch pad all around it. It'll change your screen from picture mode to somethign else within seconds and you spend more time trying to go back. Which honestly it's like that with everything else too so I suppose 2 & 3 are amongst the same complaints.
4) available ringtones (like previously stated) are few and unlikely choices for txt messages. I just saved some MP3's for other ring tones but pretty much nothing available already is suitable for me.
5) the phone freezes up when SD card in it. VERY ANNOYING
6) phone lags alot. which makes 2, 3 and 5 even that much more frustrating!
and just other minor things that I can't even remember now.
Cool but Bad
Only had this phone for 2 days but this is what I see so far
Pros - Love the wheel, the dual clock, LOUD speaker phone the person can't even tell your using it, I love the music themes, Touch screen is awesome, clear pictures, Camera is great!, can set 5 numbers and 2 e-mails per person, Like the ICE thingy,
Cons - Not a lot of short ringers for things like txt message notices, an hour after I got it it started randomly shutting off, Short battery life, Phone freezes when you put a micro chip in it, Not for people with big fingers because of the small key pad, can hit back or clear too easy when scrolling,
the chocolate is smoooooth
maybe its because I'm coming from an older phone but this thing is amazing. its so slick, and all the features i have used have worked flawlessly, the keypad is great, the new outside touch buttons are responsive, and the wheel is tactile and intuitive.
maybe this could be better, but i have no idea how it could be
so after 5 months..
Okay i traded my env in for this phone cuz my friend said it was good. ITS NOT!

awsome or sucky?
Well i dont have this phone but everybody says that it sucks. my cousin had this phone but it was the 1st one. she didnt have any probs with it. im realy stuck here. bad or good? im also stuck on something else... to get this phone in blue ice or to get the MOTO motorola W755 in purple. i looked at the reviews on youtube for both but they all have good things and bad things about them if somebody will please help me on wich one to get? just write a thing like i am doing and title it "Awsome or sucky help" i realy need to know if it realy sucks that bad everybody says it broke and all that junk but i think that they just dont take care of it this is my first phone so i realy need to know wich one to get! i know everybody thinks the chocolate is prettier the the other one i want but people please be onest! thanks
i hate this phone so much
every phone is pretty sweet when you first get it. the chocolate got really bad really quickly. the groves on the spin wheel are slippery and it doesn't spin, so there is no point in having it spin. the volume directions reverse when in the music setting, (down is higer, up is lower). my slider is the worst ever, i rarely drop it and it is just horrible. touch keys rarely work ever. speaker phone is very annoying to turn on when in a conversation, because phone always locks, and u have to hit the button twice, i can never do it in time
pros:
-the music still works even though i smashed the screen(because i hate this phone)
-caling is pretty clear
cons:
-buttons too small
-spin wheel doesn't spin
-slider sucks
-music is quiet
-cant use camera when shut
-phone just sucks!
dont get this phone. not worth it at all. it should be a free phone
