HTC 8125 / 8100 / MDA (USA) / K-JAM / P4300 (Wizard)

Im new to the PDA phone world and just ordered my 8125 off of ebay yesterday...it should arrive this tuesday and i was wondering if there was anything special i needed to do to/for the phone when i first recieve it? i already heard about total commandor, is this a good program for the 8125?? Anybody got any cool software or updates for the MDA... I went to www.htcamerica.net but i have the newest software on that site??? i heard thier were some cool ones on howard forums but i cant access that site from work... Let me know...

If someone can help me on this issue, I would really appreciate it. I own the MDA and let me first say it's an awesome phone. Its my first PDA device so I'm just now getting used to the PDA world.

Situation: I am able to go to sites such as killsometime.com; ebaumsworld, etc... and download their videos to my phone.


Question: Can I download or Stream music videos? I have gone to several sites such as www.youtube.com; music.aol.com; music.yahoo.com etc..... When I click on the video I want to watch. Some of the websites say "I need to download the latest version of Internet Explorer" and/or "I need to download Flash"

Do I need to download Flash onto my PC, then active sync it to my Pocket PC? If not, then what do I need to do?...

I currently have a Treo 650 which I use to connect my Laptop to the internet. Does this phone have a similar capability or should I stick with my Treo?

😳 Looking for an app. that remotes sms on the computer the way Motorola phone tools works with Moto phones. I found one so far, MOBILedit but it does not support the MDA yet.

I am trying to make a ringtone out of Axel F.

I have the full song in wma format. I downlaoded Wavepad to shorten it to about 25 seconds. I try saving it in different quality settings, as a wma file and as an mp3 file. I get it to play as a ringtone but it sounds very hissy. The real song playing in WMP sounds great.

How can I fix this?

The 8125 runs Pocket Internet Explorer. Is there any way I can run Netfront, Opera, or Firefox? If so, how do I download these? Do I have to use the ActiveSync, or can I download it straight to the phone itself? I tried both Netfront, and Firefox and it wouldnt let me run them. If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated!

I just got the 8125 and I really like it.. Although I am having a hard time with the syncing... I am getting errors on active sinc with a support code... How can I fix this problem...

Can anyone please tell what is the easy way to add music to windows media? For some reason the software that came in the box will not install in my computer I think I have a Bogus copy of windows xp, I bought the computer from somebody. And when I hook it up to the usb it wont read the drivers it gives me a gerneric message. Somebody Help Me Please.

I opened "text messages" then switched to another program. The "text messages" program locked up (I can not open it). Went to running programs and choose 'stop' (and 'stop all'). Get a message saying:

"This program is not responding because it is busy, waiting for a response from you, or has stopped running"

I choose 'end task', there's a slight pause, but then the 'runing programs list' still shows 'text messages' and I still can't activate/open the program.

Any ideas/help/suggestions?

Does anyone know how to uninstall built in programs, specifically Internet Explorer?

I just got the MDA a few days ago and every time i send a text msg i get a notice it was sent. This would be fine and even nice if the phone did not viabrate for 5 seconds every time. How do i turn of the notification or atleast the viabration.

I'm looking to use winscp for ssh secure copying to the device. WinSCP doesn't seem to have a mobile version. Any suggestions?

this has been brought up before but I was wondering if anybody knew of a good NES/SNES emulator that works with this...also before anybody gets all crazy on this thread, I do own a NES and SNES and do own the actual cartridges of the games that I'd play on my phone, so it's perfectly legal. if anyone has had any success with any NES/SNES emulator I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Okay, I've learned the ins and outs of this phone so far but is there a way to view the live web cams that are on the Internet? I have a web cam setup at my work place to keep track of my employees but when I try to access that page via my phone it doesn't load (it does require IE5, though, and JAVA. Is this possible? Is there a work-around or 3rd party software for being able to view webcams? Thanks for any help. 🙂

When you open and programs then close them even if you close them in the running programs area. When you go back to the start menu the program that you opened is there and it just keeps adding programs to it. Is there a way to disable this thank you

sorry guys im new to the pda world...i browsed through the forums and learned everything there is to know from you guys...

i also downloaded all the programs u guys recommended and fixed what i could...but i stil dont know how to run the exec files...

my phone says "file is not a 5.0 phone tools file" or something along those lines...

Hey all. Just wanted to share a little tidbit about Bluetooth Keyboards for this device for those that are considering going such a route.

First off, the thumb-keyboard that is integrated into the Wizard is just fine for text messaging and short memos and notes and whatnot. But do you really want to use that to take meeting notes in Word Mobile? No, not really.

To accomplish something like that, what you need is a Bluetooth Keyboard. I've been using an older non-bluetooth one for my older iPAQ PDA and it's been wonderful. Now with this device, it's time to move up to Bluetooth. However, there are a couple of things you should know about and look for before making the purchase.

First of all, check to see how many ROWS of keys the key...

many minutes...i have to stop program. also

soo i have had my phone for about 2 weeks that i got afrom a friend...it has been working fine but then today it just turned off and will not turn back on. I was using it and set it down...i cam back to it off and it will not turn back on for what ever reason? anyone know whats going on ?
