Any differnce between models?

As I've been waiting for Cingular to release this phone, I've noticed that it comes in several different forms (not just model names, but case design)?

The QTEK 9100 comes in a slightly larger, plastic case than the metal case of the I-mate K-Jam (according to a geek.com review) and the Cingular 8125 looks competely different from those two.

All appear to have the same set of features from a functionality standpoint and are all manufactured by HTC. A previous review noted that Cingular doesn't release phones until most of the bugs are worked out.

Has anyone heard of differences in performance between models of this phone? Is one an older generation that doesn't work as well? Am I better off waiting for a more refined model from C...

8125 vs. Blackberry

I asked about the availability of this phone saying that I needed something PDA-like and the salesman told me I should get a Blackberry hands down over the 8125. Now, I don't know if he misunderstood what I meant by PDA, all I really want is email, easy access to internet occasionally and a keyboard for text. He said the 8125 would be good for text but other than that you have to go with a Blackberry. He said Blackberry is the only thing with secure email. Does anyone know if a Blackberry is actually that much better? I'm thinking he might have been trying to pitch the Blackberry b/c he had it in stock. He said the 8125 is not a "smartphone", it is isn't it? Maybe I am misunderstanding what a smartphone is, but again, I don't need this thing...

Buying Factory unlocked vs. Carrier purchase?

I left a similar comment in the thread below, but has anyone had good/bad experiences buying unlocked phones, factory direct (or from a retailer). What is the advatage of waiting for a carrier to release this phone? It is already available (and well reviewed on howardforum.com).

It is certainly expensive from the retailer listed on this site, but for the amount of travel I do on my job it is worth it (if it works well).

Does Cingular reward switching from Verizon

I'm thinking of switching from Verizon to Cingular even though I'm eligible for my $100 new every two payment. Does anyone know how likely it is that Cingular might give me that $100 to switch over. I could just go with the HTC Apache on Verizon.

Similar Phone Already Out!

Sprint sells a phone extremely similar to this phone. It is called the PPC-6700 by Audiovox and it cost somewhere between 450-500 dollars. It is in on the Sprint website as well as people are selling it on EBAY already.

This phone will be released by cingular

I just switched jobs from cingular business customer care to palm treo 700 level 2 tech, and on cingular internal pages that shows phones we offer to business customers, ones out and ones to be released, its been on the comming soon status for about 3 weeks now. The treo 700 took about a month or so in comming soon status for verizon while the tech employees brought it home to test it to find the bugs and learn it so we can support it... so expect this phone out anytime now.

Man it was nice to own everyone by having a treo 700 on an ulimited plan almost a month before it came out, now the fun of having the phone is gone lol.

Voice Dial over Bluetooth

Does anyone know if Voice Dialling over Bluetooth works on this unit?

The HP iPaq 6500 while it has a n excellent Bluetooth implementation you can not do voice dialling over bluetooth, like the smartphones which sucks.

Be careful with PUREMOBILE.com

After dealing with PureMobile.com, all I can say is watch out! This is a fraudulent company. The are deciving with their prices, shipping policies, availability, have no working phone number, etc..

www.importgsm.com?

Has anyone heard anything about or used
http://www.importgsm.com »

Their prices on the K-Jam (actually an O2 XDA mini) are well below most sellers ($590US) and they offer a fantastic warranty. I'm just wondering if it is too good to be true...

Thanks
