E815 lives again!!!

After going through several gimmicky touchscreen phones, I recently reactivated my Motorola E815. Why? I remembered it was the BEST cell phone I've ever used. It had no business sitting in the drawer. I also bought an extended battery & oversized cover for it on ebay.

Did *228, now I can't make calls

I did the *228 update on my phone, for the first time in a very long time. Since then, every time I make a call, I instantly lose all my signal, and get a 'no service' text on my screen. Eventually I get the "call failed". As soon as the call fails, the signal comes back.

Also my phone used to display 1X almost all the time. Now it mostly has a red EV but switches to 1X from time to time.

And, every once in a while, I'll get or receive a phone call. I was able to make one call today. All the million other calls I tried to make didn't go through.

Its not a signal thing, its that somehow the call isn't picked up and the phone drops the signal. I've called verizon and they had me reset my phone a bunch of times, pop the batter, redo ...

Transferring Calender Events?

Anyone know if it's possible to transfer events from the phone's calendar to a new phone? I'm guessing no, but figured it's worth a shot before I spend a while moving everything to my new 815. Thanks in advance!

Charging e815

For a while now, I've been having trouble charging my e815 at home. When I plug it into the home charger, it says "unable to charge"? The same charger will charge my other moto phone and headset with no problem, so I know its not the charger. I have taken it to the verizon store and they say that it charges fine...but it doesn't. I tried a new battery and it made no difference. The weird thing is that at times it will charge, but other times it gives me the "unable to charge" error. what gives??

Ringtone Length?

What is the maximum (reasonable) length of a self-made ringtone? I've edited an MP3, but need to know the maximum length. Also, must the MP3 be converted to another format before sending to the Alltel E815?
Thanks.

Anybody else tried using Bluetooth Stereo Headphones to hear music on this?

I have discovered that this phone does not support Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), therefore unusable as a Stereo Bluetooth MP3 Player.

You must purchase the cheesy earbud headphones attached with a wire to your phone to hear mp3's outside your speakerphone.

Anybody else discovered this issue?

Where can I buy one?

I would like to buy this phone new, never opened. I was wondering if anyone knew of a reputable place to buy one? It's no longer available through Verizon or Motorola's store. There are quite a few on eBay, but I have never bought anything on there and am wondering whether they're truly new phones.

Alert Settings

Does this phone have alert settings similar to the v325? On my 325, I can set it to alert me like every 60 seconds if I have a missed call, new VM, or new text message. Does the 815 have this capability?

Verizon has new E815's for replacement

Just went to Verizon today (08/03/07) and am getting a new e815 to replace my broken one, so anyone who has been living with a little problem get a replacement while they are still in stock.

New e815?

Through a ton of problems with VZW and their current phones, I want to go back to a phone that I know worked well for me. Is there any place anyone knows where I can still buy a NEW Verizon Motorola e815? I have seen some on ebay listed as new, but after reading feedback ratings, I get the impression that most of them are refurbs. I only want brand new. Any info is greatly appreciated!!!

Is U.S Cellular not getting this phone?

😲 I was really looking forward to getting this phone once U.S. Cellular said it was tentative. Now it was taken off. What gives? ☹️

Picture "too large to open" error... need feedback please

Ok I've been on here looking around for about two years and I'm just now registering so this is my first post.

I've searched for my issue in particular, but didn't see anything really like what I was seeing, or people weren't describing their problems in as much detail as I would like.

I know it isn't a resolution or file size error, I think its an actual but but correct me if I'm wrong.

One example, I transfer a picture from my phone to my computer (have tried both using a memory card adapter and the Motorola phone tools program), adjust the brightness / contrast which is all I wanted to do in the first place to make it show up better on the phone, transfer it back and it's "too large" to open, even though the actual file size is ...

Moto E915:

If I get a new phone, do I have to re-download all the apps I have on the phone or is there some way that this can be done? Thanks

How about giving reps a tool that can transfer the apps? It can be coded to ensure deletion of the apps from the old phone. Or they could create a "Transfer Applications" downloadable axcess app that would delete the apps then create a code of sorts that would allow for free download to the new hand set.

VZW tech cannot reprogram phone

Hello!

I have an E815 with software version 8720_01.17.03. I have had problems with a lot of dropped calls and taking up to a minute to connect outbound calls. I am in Southern California and the problems started about two months ago. Phone has not been dropped in that time frame.

While I await the 6800, I tried to get the local VZW store to update it to the latest software hoping that performance might improve. They were unable to program the phone and claimed that their data cable would not connect to the phone. I have my official Moto cable that came with MPT 4 and has a USB connector on the other end, and it works fine with MPT (now 4.5.1c).

Any VZW techs out there know what I can do to get this thing reprogrammed?

Thank you ...

Can E815 "Bluetooth" ringtones/pics to another Bluetooth phone, and how ?

I've got the E815 and have lots of ringtones I have created that I want to be able to try and" Bluetooth" over to my brothers phone while he's right there (instead of texting/emailing etc.). He has a Nokia phone with T-Mobile service and mine is with Verizon. He said we should be able to, yet it seems like my phone won't accept anything coming to it via Bluetooth. I have the Bluetooth funtion turned on and have it set to search for other "devices", yet it doesnt pick up ("locate") his phone. His will "locate" mine, but when he tries to Bluetooth (send) something, he gets a message on his phone saying "not accepted"), or something like that. I do not have a Bluetooth headset and normally have no reason to use the Bluetooth function.

E815 new from Moto website

If anyone is interested you can still buy a new E815 off Motorola website. With a promo code it is $225.00. It is currently sold out, figures. They will get more though. Verizon should have NEVER stopped selling this phone.
