Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

I read on ampd mobiles website that the HOLLYWOOD (Motorola e816) supported up to 1GB microsd memory card. I looked up the e816 on motorola.com and it states there that the phone was made to only support up to 512mb expansion memory. I kept trying to format the 1gb card with the phone and it would just freeze and reset. I decided to give this a try and it works perfectly:

1: Turn off your Motorola Hollywood e816.
2: Insert the 128MB card into the phone that came with it.
3: Turn on your phone and wait for the main screen to load.
4: Hit the MENU key and go to PHONE INFO (Option 9).
5: Highlight STORAGE DEVICES and hit SELECT.
6: Highlight TRANS-T-Flash and hit the MENU key.
7: Make sure FORMAT is highlighted and press SELECT.

I have a quick question and I hope someone knows something about this.

I'm using a Verizon's motorola E815, and I wonder if there's a way for me to use this phone and switch the service to Ampd Mobile? Customer Service from Ampd mobile says it can't be done because the E815 made for Ampd Mobile has a software that makes it compatible with their service, and that my Verizon phone won't work even if I have it unlocked.

Does anyone know any tricks? I like to keep the phone, but want to switch to Ampd Mobile and use their pay-as-you-go service. I rarely use more than 60 minutes/month, so it's a waste to pay for 450 minutes every month with Verizon :-(.

First off, please don't tell me to do a search on this topic to find answers. I have done searches using every possible combination of these terms and every synonym you can think of. I have mp3s (downloaded from Limewire, not VCast) stored on T-flash. I can only play one song at a time and cannot set up a play list to play all my songs in a row. How can I play more than one song in a row?

Ok i had the E815 for the longest time has to be the best phone i have ever had. That said i lost mine and the insurance company replaced it with the LG VX 8300 (I hate it). Is there a way to reprogram the e816 to work on the verizon network. A motorola rep ( in a best buys (no he didn't work there he was just talking to the sales people)) told me they where the same phone with a different OS.

Got what is probably several dumb questions here.

I want to save a number of text messages on my phone to a computer file. What is the easiest way to do this? Is there some simple way to download these messages?

One thought I had was just to forward all the messages that I wanted to save to an e-mail account. But this brings up another question. For some of my messages, the phone will only let me forward them to another phone number and not to an e-mail address. Other messages can be forwarded to either an e-mail address or a phone number. Why is this? The messages that I cannot forward to e-mail have a text message indicator of an open envelope with what looks like a paper clip of the left of the envelope. (I would have guess...

I just recently purchased the Hollywood and I need to buy a memory card for the phone. I looked online and im not sure about which memory I should buy. I found a 1GB microSD Card that I think will work, but on amazon.com I found that there is a 1GB microSD Card ULTRA card. It costs about 10 dollars more.

Do I need the ultra or will the regular card work just as well? Or do I have to buy one over the other just because the other one wont work with the phone?

I love this phone. But Id like to keep it in good shape for that I think that is better if I charge the battery while the phone is off during the night, at least some times, is that correct?? Anyway the problem is that I turn it off, I plug the charger into the phone and the phone goes back on again by itself. It turns on when the charger is pluged too, if I turn it off with the charger it turns on again by itself. It is my phone haunted>>?? Some times it works but is anoying i have to try several times until it stays off and just charges the battery,

After reading this forum, I've decided to get the E815 if they drop the price back down (am with Sprint right now, am changing to VW).

My current phone hardly holds a charge, and I was wondering if there was a proper way to charge the E815 battery. I currently put my phone in the charger every night when I get home from work.

After charging the phone for the first time it is used, what time interval for charging it would be best to preserve its capacity to hold a charge - daily, only when needed, or what?

I'd like to retain the capacity of the battery at its peak.

So as the V710 was replaced by the E815/816, so must the E81x series be replaced. But what will it be called? Motorola isn't particularly good at choosing model numbers that reflect either status in their line or lineage of the phone. (Wouldn't it be nice if, for example, the top of the line ended in a "95"? And each generation went up by a digit? Then you'd know that a Super XT395 was better than a Super XT485, but that the 485 was one generation ahead. Gee, Motorola, is that too easy?)

Anyway, does anyone have any inside tip on when an E815 replacement is coming and what cryptic model number it might have?

the e815 or the lg vx 8100? any suggestions

does any one know how to turn off the outside changing volume WITHOUT locking the keypad....and does anyones freeze when you get a texy...press the menu and the get i now button?

I've had so many problems with this E815 that Verizon wants to switch me to an LG VX8300. What do you guys think? I really like all the features of the E815, but am unfamiliar with LG's software. 😕

I currently am a very hAPPY owner of the e815. However, I am due for an upgrade and would like a change. At first, I was going to buy the PINK RZR V3m, but then I liked the Motorola Q. NOW, I went to the store today and saw the new KRZR K1M. It is a nice phone, but I don't see what all of the excitement is about it.

SO...anyone out there that may have had an e815 and found something to upgrade to HAPPILY??? I'm afraid that I'm going to be disappointed after owning such a great phone like the e815.
