Dropped v265 in toilet

I removed the covers and battery and let it dry for 24 hours but it still won't work. I tried another battery but no luck. I am still under factory warranty and will be returning to Verizon store. Any suggestions or experiences?

Dropped call problem...

I’ve had my v265 for about 5 months. For the past month and a half or so I’ve had quite a few dropped calls. Over the course of the day I am on the phone for 2 to 3 hours. I have 3-4 dropped calls a day. (Well, I’m not sure what the official definition for a dropped call is... but the phone just hangs up. The display says ‘call ended’.) Verizon sent me a new phone and it is still having problems. The phone has the current software version and I do use *228 to update regularly.

I just got off the phone with their (verizon) technical support and they told me it is because I am inside my house, car, etc. They said I should expect to have 4-5% of my calls dropped. Does anyone else have this problem? Is this many dropped calls normal? It is ge...

v265 Power On button - problem?

Hello,

I have just purchased 2 v265s and I notice something peculiar with one of them. When I press the power on button on one of the phones (press it once, not hold it as the manual instructs to turn on the phone), I notice the screen cycles on and off. My other new v265 does not do this?

Is this a problem? Does this happen on anybody else's phone? It doesn't bother me but I don't want it to be a symptom of a future problem or a lemon as I am now in a return period since I just purchased the phones.

Thanks for any help and insight.

weird time display issue

I've had this happen to me a couple of times and I don't really understand it.

One of the main reasons I got the 265 is the tri-mode feature, since here in Vermont I sometimes have to drive out of range of the digital network. Twice now, in the past couple of weeks, I've been in Hyde Park, an area with only analog service, and found that my time display had reset to 12:00 and started running again from that time. I haven't had it happen anyplace else, and none of my other features were affected. It's possible that it only happened after I made a call while in the analog zone, I just don't remember.

This isn't the biggest problem in the world, since I'm never without my watch or my Palm, but does anyone know what might be causing thi...

Am I stupid, or is there no way for screensavers to work w/v265?

I can NEVER see a screensaver--

Screensaver minimum delay is 1 minute.

Back light maximum idle time is 50 seconds.

Before the screensaver can ever appear, the light goes out.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this phone really that lame?

V265 vs V551

What are others' opinions about the two phones?

I am getting V551 for two reasons: bluetooth and lower SAR. Hopefully I didn't make a mistake.

Thanks.

Amazing data cable with software

Hello there, I would like to share my great experience with you.
I purchased a data cable with software called Handset Manager from Fry's electronics, this little package really surprises me! With reasonable price (better price than any other data cable and software), and the software just provides more great features! You gotta try it to believe!!! Handset Manager, you are just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! ! !

V265 battery problem or is it really corrosion

Has anyone had a similar problem?

I took my 3 month old V265 to the Verizon store because after any length of charging, the phone showed a low battery.

Initially the Verizon tech said, "I have seen this happen and it just takes a software update. Leave the phone and it will take about an hour."

When I returned he said, "I found corrosion on the accessory port and that invalidates the warranty. However, I will replace it for a $50 fee and you will also have to purchase insurance for $4.99 a month"

I told him I did not want to buy insurance and so he just handed the phone back to me without saying anything else. I guess I am not that quick thinking in these kind of situations, so I just left. I should probably have asked to see the...

Need LCD Screen/Casing Related Help

🙄 So I just bought an inexpensive yet scratched up v265 off eBay, and I'm trying to improve the cosmetics. I got aftermarket covers but the lcd screen has a long scatch and a ding that are pretty annoying to see.

Is the LCD screen covered by a second layer on this phone or is it bare? Whichever is the case, how do I replace the scratched piece or get the scratch out? Any thoughts ?

Also, is there any way to replace the silver side part of the casing that the covers don't protect? The "elbows" at the top are pretty dinged up.

PS. Any thoughts on the 900 mAh Li-ion extended batteries? Will they overheat?

thanks =)

Ringer doesnt work...

Ok, just got the phone today, set up everthing according to the manuals instructions.

Problem is that the ringer doesnt work when receiving a call. Vibe works on its own and on vibe/ring setting. Ring setting on Loud...no ring??

What is the deal? Am i missing a setting somewhere?? The volumes are up, ringer on with selected ring tones, but NO ring??

Going to go back in the morning and have them look at it, but figured it was worth a shot on here...

Self Portrait Feature.

I was just reading a description of this phone saying that it has a self-portrait feature. I was thinking this that was another erroneous claim about the v265..(like the picture caller id and the flash) But, reading further, I discovered that it does have a self portrait feature. This little mirrored bump next to the lens isn't just a design feature. It's a mirror so you can take self-portraits. 🤣 🤣

ticking in earpiece with call timer activated?

Hey everyone, new to the forum. Just got the v265, like it so far. Only problem I am having is a ticking noise for every second when the in call timer is activated. It is as if when the screen refreshes every second to show the new time, it is sending some type of interference to the speaker. Also, if the battery is taken out and replaced it works fine for a short amount of time At first I thought I was crazy, but now it is pretty annoying. The weird thing is, I have already gotten a new phone because of this, and now the new phone does it also. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone else like to have the in call timer turned on? Does anyone have it turned on, and not have this problem? Could someone test it for me? Like I said, thi...

V265 Picture Caller ID.

👿

Just got my phone today and in the back of the box it states:

Get pix: Style it! Add sound and text to your favorite shots, turn them into wallpaper or "Set up caller id to see a picture of who's calling".

I have tried looking everywhere in the phone for this option and its not there.
Im signed up with Verizon so I'd thought maybe its a "Get It now!" feature so I went to the website and spent a while looking for something similar but no luch.

Anybody has any ideas why it would state in the box if not available?

Thanks in advance!

Btw, the no date issue on the home page of the phone is totally lame!

Transfering Pics, ringtones, etc

Just got my V265. Was wondering if there is anyway to get pictures off the phone without using Verizon's paid services? Same with getting ringtones on.

I did a search of this forum, and it looks like the functionality is disabled in the Motorola Phone Tools software with this phone. Is this true? Are there any other "creative" alternatives I should be aware of?

Thanks...

Can't see the date?

It's not the phone's fault. When the phone is new out of the box (and also in the photos in the owner's manual) it shows the date in the top left, and the time in the bottom right of the inside display. As soon as it's activated though, the date disappears and it is replaced with "Verizon Wireless" which thereafter will alternate with your own banner (but no the date). It's worth noting that during a call the clock on the outside display of the phone disappears so that it too can display "Verizon Wireless." Maybe because the permanent Verizon logos on the front, back, and inside just aren't enough. 👿

Deleting Phonebook icons???

Hi,

Is there any way to remove the icon for the Voicemail entry in the phonebook. When we got the phone from Verizon, there was an entry for voicemail (slot #1) and it didn't have an icon (e.g. mobile, home, etc). I had accidentally deleted this entry, so I made a new entry in Slot #1 for voicemail. However, it automatically defaults to have an icon. There's no obvious way to remove the icon.

I realize that this is a tiny problem, but it bugs the hell out of me.

Any suggestions?

Sound quality

I did a lot of research and I just bought a V265, based mainly on reviews indicating it has great reception and call quality. Now that I've had it in my hand (and up to my ear) I'm wondering if there's something wrong. I'm kind of dissatisfied with the voice quality. I don't know how I sound to people, but what I hear doesn't sound that good. I'm tempted to see if I can exchange it at Amazon for another model, but I'm wondering if other people have had the same experience.

Also, if you do have experience with other phones, how would you say the sound quality compares to either the V710 or the Vx7000?

Thanks.
