Java Error FIX

Hello fellow berry users. I recently ran into a major problem with my BB Storm yesterday. I ran an update for my VCAST application and had to reboot it to finish installation. I pulled the battery to do a hard reboot and when the system started up, i got the error message "Uncaught Exception: java.lang.NullPointerException." At first i thought no big deal it fixed itself. But then i noticed i had no menu option for my SMS. 😳 Panicking i searched for my text folder for hours. I wasn't even able to receive new texts. I got connected to VZW tech support and it was new to them so it was a learning experience for us both. so...here is how you fix the problem:

First off, back up EVERYTHING using the Desktop Manager. TAKE OUT THE MEMORY CARD! ...

camera options on different os versions

ok i pulled a storm out of the back room, and the camera had an option i had never seen before, white board. im running .90, and i dont have it, but i never noticed it before on my storm.

anyone else using different os's (.75, 76, 83,85 have the option?

i think .85 was almost as good as .90, but the camera in .90 sucks, so i was just curious if .85 had it so i could use that. i need the camera to work.

Seidio Innocell 2600mAh Extended Battery for STORM

I may be posting old news here but I just saw this for the first time on crackberry.

I was looking at accessories on Crackberry.com
(my second favorite site only to PhoneScoop and ehowa)

2600mAH battery, 90% more battery life.
Makes the back of the phone bigger, comes with the bigger battery door.
its "rubbery feeling plastic" sounds fine to me.

$59.00 smackaroos.

I think I need a bigger phone case.

Come to think of it, the standard battery has been pretty good.

viewing yahoo normally

To view the normal Yahoo webpage I had to change the browser on my Storm to IE or Firefox. However, now I can't click any of the links like Yahoo Movies or Yahoo Finance. When I use the Blackberry browser I get the lame mobile Yahoo webpage, but the few links that are on there actually work.

Has anyone successfully gotten the regular Yahoo website to work? My friends that have the cool iPhone can view it just fine, with the links working. 😢

OS 4.7.0.99...Pros/Cons??

So I've been running the .99 leaked OS now since last night and so far, I'm very impressed! For me, the camera seems to have been the one thing that just wasn't getting better, but it does seem to work a bit smoother in this build. Yeah, there have been other bugs along the way, but so far, since installing .99, I've not had any noticeable problem. In fact, the only major issue I'm having is that my Storm will not sync with my PC anymore, but that started on .75, so I can't blame the leaked OS's for that!

So what is everyone thinking of .99 so far?...is it finally a good stable OS for most of you?

Voice Mail Issue

I just got my storm on Saturday as an upgrade from my pearl. I'm very happy with it (and haven't installed a newer software version yet), however my voice mail indicator at the top of the screen says I have a message. I have no messages in visual voice mail, and I have logged into my actual voicemail and it says I have no messages. I used the * option to close my VM instead of just hitting "end". Any suggestions?

A Better Way.....

You would know, Fkntwizted. I believe your work for Verizon, so this would have been commonplace for you. Right after I posted about the Get it Now and all the steps involving activation, etc., I went to the site and saw the entire management of ring backs on the website and how much easier and more efficient it is.

Thanks for the heads up on this.... 🤤

Ring back Tones & The Storm

The previous posts mentioned ring back tones. The Storm does not support "Get it Now" Ringback tones. However, it is proprietary to your line. If you initiated the service with another phone prior to activating your Storm, the main (selected) ring back tone will work on the line.

You cannot select other ringback tones with the Storm since the feature is not accessible. When the tone expires (1 yr.), you can't renew with the Storm unless you utilize a phone such as the Voyager that supports Verizon's "Get It Now," package, At that point, you would re-activate the Storm for another year of ring back usage.

tiny review after 1 week with Storm

After owning this phone for a week.
I'm still loving it.
I read the tips and tricks page on Crackberry
and now I know a bunch of cool tips
and button shortcuts. Awesome stuff.
I'm glad I read them, helps with simple tasks.

The battery life has been pretty good.
Screen clarity is awesome.
Watching my MP4 videos is great.
I've been using the "iPod" features.
and leaving my old iPod at home.

Even though I managed to install Opera Mini, the blackberry broswer has handled all web pages I have visted with no problems.

The USB port on the phone is 2.0 which means large files copy onto the phone very fast.

I will give it one more week then I will post a long review.

VZ Navigator

Anyone having issues with VZ Navigator? For some reason ever since I did the last update when I go to open my VZ Navigator it opens with Keyboard showing and the whole program being 1/2 screen. The keyboard disappears and then the program is only in the middle of the screen with a lot of blue dead space and I can not "navigate" my way into the program since I can only see about 1/3 of the screen and it is stuck in portiat and will not move to landscape.

I have tried upgrading/downgrading
I have tried pulling battery numerous times
I have tried deleting entire program and reinstalling (and pulling battery numerous times)

Any other suggestions?????

Best Setting?

I've seen conflicting suggestions on Crackberry.com forums regarding the best settings for touchscreen tap interval and hover period. Some have recommended 100 & 100, while others report 250.

Has anyone found the most precise setting? All seem to agree the swipe sensitivity should be set a (high) 6. I would appreciate some feedback as to the most effective parameter for this device....

Just returned Storm and got the Omnia!! AND NO $35 ReStock FEE!!!

Best decision ever was for me to return my Storm today. My wife still has her Storm and I just upgraded the OS. The storm is a little better now but still has its fallbacks. Once that will never get fixed is the weak springiness of the screen corners. Its harder to press the screen button in on the corners since there is minimal travel and spring there.

So I Love my Omnia big time. Best win mobile phone ever. And one more thing...
... to the Verizon rep that told me last week I would never be able to get the $35 restock fee waived, and that he would like to be there when I asked for it...
... well I called customer service and they noted my account to waive the fee. Boo Ya!

So to all those that want the fee waived, here are the ste...

Verizon sells 1 million Storms!

Didn't have to wait long to see this happen. Not bad for a phone thats only been out 2 months 😁

Via Computer World:

The BlackBerry Storm smart phone, put on sale Nov. 21 exclusively by Verizon in the U.S., has sold 1 million units through January, company officials said today.

"That's not a bumpy start," a spokeswoman said today, in reaction to a recent report in the Wall Street Journal that characterized the rollout and a quick software update as "bumpy."

The success in the wireless segment included sales of the Storm, which was built by Research in Motion Ltd. Today's earnings statement included a few short references to how "customers across the country lined up to purchase the new BlackBerry Storm," when it went on sale ...

GPS question re- Standalone GPS listed as a feature of the Storm

I'm about to buy this phone from Verizon this coming Friday.

one question has come up after doing a lot of reading about it.
The RIM web site says this phone has Standalone GPS and A-GPS, and supports LBS.

My question to all that own this phone on Verizon's network. Is the GPS still locked down meaning you can only use GPS if you pay for VZ navigator? or does it work, out of the box, like standalone GPS should work.
Meaning could I install Google Maps, and it would show me my current location,
again without paying for VZ Navigator.

I want this phone either way, thanks all and I hope my question makes sense.
