8700 price slashed on website!

OK maybe that was a bit over dramatic, but it was 229 less 50 dollar rebate making it 179.95.

Now it is 199.95 minus the 50 dollar rebate.

New price = 149.95

LG 8700 crashed?

Here's my story.

I just got 8700 last week after returning a KRZR (Verison) because of reception issues in my house. Motorolas typically (for me) have been unreliable as far as their internal anntennas. Reception and static issues for me in and around the bay area. I thought the KRZR had to be an improvement, not.

Upon first using the 8700 I deceided to see how long I could go without charging (ie like seeing how far I could go with the gas light on empty). So, as of Friday May 11th thru today Monday May 14th, no charging(maybe 10 total calls, few mins each, no pics). And pleasantly surprised to see 3 of 4 bars of charge left on the display.

Unfortunatly, after I saw it go to 2 bars, I couldn't take it anymore and had to charge...

Scratch potential with VX 8700??

For those of you who have the 8700, are you having problems with scratches in the metal exterior? I was in a CC today trying to compare the 8700 to the Maxx and could not get my mind off the scratches. I know you should use a case but the reality is that it will not happen. Seems silly to have a great looking new phone but have to hide it with a case.

Ringtones

I am looking at upgrading from LG VX 8100 to the LG VX 8700. Verizon tells me there is not any way to transfer ringtones from the 8100 to the 8700. This doesn't seem right. If you buy the ringtones, you shouldn't loose them just because you change phones. I don't have that many, but this still seems like a rip off.

Does anyone know a way around this and if so walk me thru it.

Thanks,

I think the battery is not going to cut it !

Days of testing and I am very dissapointed.

The 8700 with it's 800Mah battery is just not going to be a marathon runner.

Looks like I get about 2 hours and 10 minutes of talk time just about everyday.. It seems to be able to go longer and then it just poops out.

The battery meter is a horror.. You could get 1hour or more out of bar one and then all hell breaks loose.. It drops like a rock and the low battery warning will allow for almost no action and it just dies.

The 8300 has a 1100Mah battery and they dare put a 800 in this puppy with a much larger screen to eat the battery for lunch.

So I am out for now..

Back to the 8300 and still testing KRZR battery life. Seems to get like 3 hours consistantly with it's micro screen...

Droping Bluetooth Connection with the 8700

I just bought a Samsung WEP-200. It has really good reviews, but nothing to keep me from buying it. I have had it less than a week, and the my 8700 will either disconect from the headset or not find it. I have tried removed the headset from the bluetooth history and tried to reinstall it. The phone can not find it. The only way I can get the phone to find the headset, once the connection has been lost, is to remove the battery from the phone for about 10 seconds. The phone will then find the headset with no problem.
My wife also has the 8700 and has had no problems connecting to my headset.

Has anybody had this problem or know how to fix it?

Secret Programming Menu

You know with the other phones Menu 0 gets you into the phone's programming menu. It's not working on this phone. Anyone know how to access this menu on the 8700?

User Manual Could be written with greater detail.

LG could take a lesson from Audiovox on the clarity and detail of it's owner's manuals. This manual leaves alot of exploring to the owner. I don't like discovery unless its on a camping trip in a state park

my assessment of the LG vs. MAXX

I had the maxx for about 2 weeks before returning it for the 8700. So far i like the 8700 much better. the front screen on the maxx started to have too much play (wiggle) after the first week. when handling the phone closed you could feel it go back and forth. i couldn't stand it and wondered how long it would stay together (have to keep it 2 years).

Battery life was better then the LG, but other then that, it was nothing exciting. it's basically a black razor with a better camera and bigger screen. The maxx is nice but wow, it looked terrible with all the finger prints. It just wasn't anything new really and it was just a tad too big to carry around in your pocket.

now the LG is just a classier phone. It is smaller then the maxx no...

Anyone Switch from a Samsung U740?

I currently own the Samsung U740 but am considering a switch to this phone because the keys are just too small for me on the Smasung. Anyone else make the switch? If so, happy you did? Not happy?

Also, does anyone know if you can text using your voice on the LG? I love this feature on the Samsung!

Thanks in advance for replying!

State Of Ohio Employee Discount

Hi,
I work for the State of Ohio and our rep is telling me that my coporate price on this phone is $189.00 with no $ 50.00 rebate allowed. How can that be when online they are selling the phone for $229.00 - $50.00 rebate = $ 179.00. Doesn't seem like a discount when they are charging you $ 10.00 more.
Can a VZ Rep please explain this too me.
Thanks

Better Price?

I know this phone was just released a few weeks ago, but does anyone know how long it will take the price to go down slightly? I am joining my fiance's verizon plan, but the second person to a family share plan really doesn't get much of a discount. He is up for new every two, but NE2 doesn't apply to me... ever.

newbie question

I just got my 8700 (upgrading from a Motorola 265) and I LOVE it. I am still learning about this.. and have a question.

I put a bunch of ringtones on the SD card, and I can't figure out how to put them onto the phone into the My Ringtones. I get them moved to My Sounds, but now what?

I figured out if I send them to myself as a pix file, I can save them.. but there has to be a better way using the SD card.

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
thanks, Susan
