Speaker phone, battery life, and charger questions

Hello, I'm probably going to get this phone. I'll be upgrading from a VX8300. I've got a few of questions though after reading the reviews.

1. I've read different things about the speakerphone. I use mine mostly for when I'm on hold or navigating menus (for ex. when I'm calling Verizon). Is it good enough for that?

2. It looks like the battery life is about two-thirds of the VX8300. Have you guys noticed anything?

3. I really like desktop chargers. Since the charging port is on the side....do you think they will ever build one for the 8700?

Thanks

8600 or 8700?

I currently have a VX8100, which is finally dying on me. I am stuck between picking the VX8600 and the VX8700. I don’t use many of the extra features of the phone. I make phone calls, take pictures, and send/receive about 3000 text messages a month.

I know the VX8600 can view texts on the front screen, and the VX8700 can't, which does disappoint me, but I can deal with that. Overall, from those that have had both phone, which one is better for phone calls, pictures, texting, and overall?

I am going to buy one of these phones by the end of the week.

USB cable for data transfer

Does anyone know if a standard USB cable, like the kind used for digital cameras would work to transfer data to and from the cell phone to pc? If not, what are the differences between the two cables? Thanks

Name Display With Incoming Calls/Texts

I have a pretty basic question about the VX8700. For some reason, when I get a call or a text, the actual phone number is being displayed instead of the name (since these numbers are in my phonebook). I had the 8000 before this and it was never an issue (name was always displayed unless it wasn't in my phonebook). Also, I backed up my contacts from the 8000 using Backup Assistant and then restored them to the 8700 so I wouldn't have to re-enter them. I doubt this has anything to do w/ it, but I thought I would mention it. Is this happening to anyone else? Thanks for your help.

Anyone else having bluetooth problems?

I have had many LG phones and this is the first one that will not connect to my Motorola H700 BT headset. Is anyone else having a problem with their headset? I can pair it but when I try to connect it says it is out of range when I have it sitting right next to the phone.

Playing Music

I just got my 8700. I'm not use to these phones that do so much. My last phone, a VX4400, was..... a phone. So now I'm trying to figure out how to use the features. How do I play music files from my computer? Do I have to use V Cast to play music I already have? I loaded some mp3's to the micro SD, and haven't been able to play them. Can someone give me some directions for a dummy to do this?

Thanks
Mark

MP3 buttons

The 8600 has exterior control buttons for MP3 player. I can see that this isn't the case with the 8700, but I don't see them in the interior display's picture. Can anyone say if the MP3 buttons are in a convenient place?

Maxx came out today

$20 more the the 8700. Maybe I'm missing something but I can't see the justification for that thing being even more expensive.

vs. 9900 camera????

i have and love the 9900, but i don't really need the keyboard. I would love the size of this phone but would mis the battery on the 9900. So here is my deciding factor, if the 2mp camera on the 8700 is to par with the 2mp on the 9900, if it is i think i might buy one....thoughts? If not I will waite on the gzone type s

Will the LG VX-8700 be available in VZW stores on 04/17/07?

I know it was originally supposed to be released on April 17th. Has this changed?

Text messaging question

Hey everyone, I had a quick question about the 8700. I'm wondering if it has a texting mode available that isn't T9 or predictive text. I really don't like those styles, and I'm just looking for a normal tap entry like I've had on my Motorolas in the past.

Thanks!

Isn't the verticle external display hard to read?

I'm thinking of buying this phone, and I'm seeing most give it a pretty good review. However, no one mentions anything about the external display being the horizontal format, isn't that weird and hard to read?

Do you really have to turn the phone sideways to see what time it is, or to see who's calling?

Those of you that have this phone, what are your thoughts on this?

$29.99 - Check for a corporate discount

My employer, along with many others, has a corporate discount with Verizon. The corporate discount price for my employer is $129.99, and I am eligible for the NE2, so I will net out at $29.99. Only issue is that I will have to wait until the end of the month as the online corporate discount process doesn't recognize the NE2 and I have to go through customer service, and they don't yet have the phones to dispense.
