Tri-Mode vs. All-Digital?

I understand the main differences between Tri-Mode and All-Digital phones, but I have a specific question...

Imagine that I have two phones, with all features and qualities exactly the same except that one is Tri-Mode and one is All-Digital. Now, assuming that I spend 100% of my time in areas fully covered by digital service, is there any downside to going with the Tri-Mode phone?

I know that I would never need the analog capabilities of the Tri-Mode, so I'll agree that it's unnecessary, but I would simply consider that a needless feature, not a reason to avoid the tri-mode.

One thing I've heard, but don't know whether to believe, is that the tri-mode phones tend to give up on holding the digital service a little more...

WCDMA Question for Rich Brome

Rich, the following was taken from Qualcomm's website from their WCDMA products page.

"Proven CDMA track record
Because the QUALCOMM WCDMA (UMTS) solution is built on established CDMA experience — enabling fully tested, completely integrated technology which is supported by QUALCOMM’s expert team of engineers from design to deployment — we help minimize development costs and optimize the performance of product offerings as operators move toward WCDMA (UMTS) 3G networks."

Question: Based on this, will CDMA eventually evolve into WCDMA and we will have one global standard?

Nextel Technology

Is nextel's IDEN technology capable of handling the same features as cdma and 3g networks and GSM and their edge and gprs. I have noticed in my time as a nextel customer that the signal service of nextel is far superior (at least in my area) to that of any other phone service. I have also noticed that nextel doesnt really have a variety of smartphones, or features such as mobitv, or a new generation network like all the other carriers. I was wondering can nextels current network handle the same things as say sprints 3g network, and if not will it be upgraded soon if upgradeable or replaced?

RF Class?

I was just flippin thru some promo material I found in my stock room on the SE t637 (G-D, Sundays are boring) cause I'm lookin at gettin one. The material mentions that the t637 has a "class IV RF" profile. I'm assuming, due to the statements that follow that a class IV is high on the rating, but my question is this.

What is an RF classification, who sets the standards, and where would I find these classes on other phones? A lot of folks that buy/use phones here (myself included) live in rural areas and I'd love to be able to quantify for them how well their phone is going to get a signal.

Does anyone have information on this?

weird speaker noises,

Ever since i got my t637 (att) when it rings or does any transmission at all, it causes any nearby small speakers to make a weird buzz/humm. my sprint phone didn't do this, i don't think my t-mobile did, but my girlfriend's does the same thing and she has an lg L1150 (also att). Does anyone else have the same problem? does anyone know what causes this? is my phone opening portals to another dimension from which demons are trying to communicate with me? just curious.

Older phones on gsm network?

I was thinking about buying a old nokia 8890 off of ebay and was wondering if anyone knows how well i could expect it to work?

i talked to the main cingular office and they said that it'd be fine, but the local store told me that it would probably only work on maybe half the towers they have up.
it's gsm 900/1900 and i think the current network is 1800?

any ideas?

One Bluetooth Headset, Two Bluetooth Phones

Here's the deal ... I'm going to have two bluetooth devices on me (a Blackberry 7290 and a Motorola v710). I take voice calls on each device. I want to know if it's possible to have one bluetooth headset and have it work with both phones. Both phones will be powered on (one on my belt and one in my pocket). I'm planning to use the Jabra FreeSpeak BT-250 headset. Is this going to work?

New Phone

I need some help in getting a new phone. I have a samsung sph-a620 phone right now that is not charging. bought on oct.18, 2003 took the phone in to sprint to get it replace and they said they couldn't help me ☹️ because it was 12 days pass factory warranty. They told me that I need to get it fix or get a new phone, I was piss off 🤭 after that point because after being with them for 6 year and they couldn't do any thing for me because it was 12 day pass warranty. It will cost me about the same to fix the phone than getting a new one. So I need some help on what is the best new phone out there. 😲 😁 🙄

MP3's on your phone S700i

How do I get mp3's on to my Sony Ericsson s700i. It has a sony memory stick. I have transfered mp3's from my compuer on to my memory stick using usb. but when I but the memory stick back in my phone it wont recognize the mp3 in my media player.
I think It has some kind of copyright protection program on it to keep it from transferring over mp3's. In the manual it says you can only you can get media is by download or picture message. If I need to download full lenght mp3's then how do I do it. I would like to use my phone as an mp3 player any idea's. Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Question about Jabra BT200 / BT adapter for non-bt phones

The Jabra BT200 is a bluetooth headset that comes
with an adapter that enables non-bluetooth capable phones (2.5 mm headset jack) to connect wirelessly with the bluetooth headset.  Does anyone know if this Jabra bluetooth enabling adapter will work/be compatible with any other bluetooth headsets
(e.g. the Sony Ericsson HBH300) or if it's bluetooth capabilities are limited to work exclusively with that specific Jabra headset that comes with the adapter?  Something tells me I should be able to use any bluetooth headset with the adapter, as I believe the headset that comes with the adapter is compatible with any regular bluetooth-capable phone as well.
I'm not sure, though...

Basically I'd like to use the adapter for my non-BT phone but...
