Toyota to Launch Sales of 'Kirobo Mini', a Small Talking Robot. Cost of Kirobo Mini is around $390

Japan’s largest automaker Toyota will begin selling a 10-centimeter-tall (4 inch) talking robot called Kirobo Mini across Japan in early 2017. This Robot is Priced at around $390, and it is small enough to fit into a car cupholder.
Toyota is billing Kirobo as capable of responding to human emotions while engaging in conversation and moving its head and hands.

Toyota will position Kirobo as a communication partner developed for companionship just as surveys of Japanese consumers show a declining affinity for automobiles. One poll by Japan’s automakers association released in April found about 30 percent of respondents under age 30 had no interest in cars at all.

Team of Robots Learns to Work Together, Without Colliding

When roboticists create behaviors for teams of robots, they first build algorithms that focus on the intended task. Then they wrap safety behaviors around those primary algorithms to keep the machines from running into each other. Each robot is essentially given an invisible bubble that other robots must stay away from. As long as nothing touches the bubble, the robots move around without any issues. But that’s where the problems begin. »

MIT built a Self-assembling Cell Phone. It is Useful for Google's project Ara ph

Consumer Electronics assembly requires a tremendus amount of manual labor, or highly customzied robotics.
This leads to increased cost, assembly time and energy consumption.
Researchers at MIT’s Self-Assembly Lab have come with an amazing solution to handle these issues.

Their new project explores how with a few components, a source of energy, and the right interactions, a cell phone could "build itself," without the need for human or even high-tech automation

They have a rough prototype for the self-assembled cell phone. It's composed of six parts that assemble into two different phones. The parts are put into a tumbler (think of something like a cement mixer) and tossed around until the parts click together into the phones.

iPhone 6S Repair

So I dropped my 6S in water while charging. The bottom part of the iPhone was in a bucket no deeper than the home button for maybe five minutes. All working fine. I took it off the charger and it sat for a while. Screen was very responsive but I noticed the volume was stuck on headphone mode while no headphones were plugged in. I plugged in headphones to see if that would fix the problem but it did not.

After I unplugged the headphones the screen went completely black. I did a hard reboot and the Apple logo came on but soon all went black. I called my phone from another and it was ringing fine, alerts were sounding fine as well.

I left it alone again for some hours off of the charger. I wanted it to die out completely. I would know b...

Why I prefer the iPhone over ANDROID

first off I do work in cellular, and I am very aware that I make crap commission wise selling iPhone. I totally understand where people come from when they hate this phone for that reason. But there sure seems to be a lot of hate aimed at this phone and I see a lot of threads about why android is better.

I decided I would make a thread about why I wouldnt choose Android over iPhone

1. I do not like the look and feel of Android OS. To me Android does not have a polished look to it well thought out interface. The icons all look very amateur in comparison to iPhone. It also just doesnt seem to run as smoothly all the time.

2. The battery life of Android devices doesnt seem to last as long as my iPhone 4. Most my friends use Android...

Should Apple implement wireless charging concept in a typical “Apple Way”?

The concept of wireless charging is becoming a standard feature in flagship Smartphones. The latest Smartphones from Samsung, Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge features wireless charging concept that is compatible with both standards of wireless charger and because of this it is garnering more attention from the consumers across the world.

Most of the Android based devices these days have inbuilt wireless charging feature, but there is still major manufacturer that has yet to employ this function in their Smartphone, yes we are talking about Apple.

When the world switched to microUSB as a standard charger for Smartphones, at that time Apple was still stuck to its 30 pin connector. When this 30 pin connector was considered as an outdated and slow c...

A Samsung SPH-M320 shows "Emergency mode" only... also refuses to be shutted down. It shows that it's related to Sprint when you open it (not on the screen).

It was working ok until a few weeks ago but suddenly it's showing signs of trouble.

After having searched on the web for info on cellphones I learned of something called rooting; I've given this idea some consideration and since the phone is now de-activated but still with a considerable amount of MBs available inside I want to try this thing of rooting and using it later as a kind of memory stick, just for fun. I'm aware that there might be other more useful things to do with it, but for starters I want to experiment with it, if at all possible.

Now that I've established what I have, in what condition & my immediate pur...

Cellphone addiction?

"The average college student uses a smartphone for about nine hours each day.

That’s longer than many of those students spend sleeping. In fact, such extended cell phone use shows that the technology could become an addiction, according to a new study. An addiction is a type of uncontrolled and unhealthy habit.

It’s well known that people can become addicted to drugs, such as alcohol, narcotics and the nicotine in cigarettes. What’s not so well known: “People can be addicted to behaviors,” says James Roberts. He’s a marketing professor at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Roberts also was the lead author of the new study. It appears in the August Journal of Behavioral Addictions.

Some cell phone users show the same sym...
