There will be a microphone icon near the top of the screen Inside the Amazon App for iOS.
You can press that microphone icon to call up Alexa. You’ll be able to ask the assistant almost anything you’d normally be able to ask through a device like the amazon Echo.
i-e You can ask it to make purchases for you, look up facts, or control smart home products.

But still there is a major difference between Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa. Since Siri is built-in with the operating system we can talk to siri without opening any app, but for speaking with Amazon Alexa, we have to open the Amazon App first.

Secure Wireless Chargers

Counterfeit chargers for portable electronics are a major problem. At the end of 2016, Apple claimed that of 100 Apple-branded charging accessories it bought on Amazon, 90 were counterfeits. Around the same time, Britain’s Chartered Trading Standards Institute reported that of 400 counterfeit chargers it bought from a range of online retailers, 397 failed a basic safety test.

In the last few years, portable electronics that can be recharged wirelessly have started coming to market. In an effort to get ahead of the problem of counterfeit wireless chargers — which could cause power surges that fry a device’s circuitry — researchers from MIT’s Microsystems Technology Laboratories have built a chip that blocks attempts to wirelessl...

Smartphone Microscope offers cost-effective DNA Sequencing and Genetic Mutation analysis

Just like an alphabet is made up of individual letters, DNA is composed of chemical bases. And in the same way that letters must be placed in a specific order to form words and sentences, the sequence of chemical bases is incredibly important in how DNA functions and codes our lives.

One reason scientists pay close attention to DNA sequence is that it can help them identify a gene or a mutation that may cause a disease. But the analysis typically requires sending patients’ cell and tissue samples to well-equipped labs, which in many cases are located far away. This is a particular challenge in settings with limited resources — in developing countries and underdeveloped communities, for example — where health care workers do not alwa...

AI Dancer - LuminAI watches Dancing Person and improvises its own moves using AI

An Artificial Intelligence system developed by Georgia Institute of Technology watches dancing person and improvises its own moves based on prior experiences. When the human responds, the computerized figure or “virtual character” reacts again, creating an impromptu dance couple based on artificial intelligence (AI).

This project is named as LuminAI, and it is housed inside a 15-foot-tall geodesic dome.

It learns how to dance by paying attention to which moves the current user is doing and when. The more moves it sees, the better and deeper the computer’s dance vocabulary. It then uses this vocabulary as a basis for future improvisation.

Team of Robots Learns to Work Together, Without Colliding

When roboticists create behaviors for teams of robots, they first build algorithms that focus on the intended task. Then they wrap safety behaviors around those primary algorithms to keep the machines from running into each other. Each robot is essentially given an invisible bubble that other robots must stay away from. As long as nothing touches the bubble, the robots move around without any issues. But that’s where the problems begin.

MIT built a Self-assembling Cell Phone. It is Useful for Google's project Ara ph

Consumer Electronics assembly requires a tremendus amount of manual labor, or highly customzied robotics.
This leads to increased cost, assembly time and energy consumption.
Researchers at MIT’s Self-Assembly Lab have come with an amazing solution to handle these issues.

Their new project explores how with a few components, a source of energy, and the right interactions, a cell phone could "build itself," without the need for human or even high-tech automation

They have a rough prototype for the self-assembled cell phone. It's composed of six parts that assemble into two different phones. The parts are put into a tumbler (think of something like a cement mixer) and tossed around until the parts click together into the phones.

iPhone 6S Repair

So I dropped my 6S in water while charging. The bottom part of the iPhone was in a bucket no deeper than the home button for maybe five minutes. All working fine. I took it off the charger and it sat for a while. Screen was very responsive but I noticed the volume was stuck on headphone mode while no headphones were plugged in. I plugged in headphones to see if that would fix the problem but it did not.

After I unplugged the headphones the screen went completely black. I did a hard reboot and the Apple logo came on but soon all went black. I called my phone from another and it was ringing fine, alerts were sounding fine as well.

I left it alone again for some hours off of the charger. I wanted it to die out completely. I would know b...

Why I prefer the iPhone over ANDROID

first off I do work in cellular, and I am very aware that I make crap commission wise selling iPhone. I totally understand where people come from when they hate this phone for that reason. But there sure seems to be a lot of hate aimed at this phone and I see a lot of threads about why android is better.

I decided I would make a thread about why I wouldnt choose Android over iPhone

1. I do not like the look and feel of Android OS. To me Android does not have a polished look to it well thought out interface. The icons all look very amateur in comparison to iPhone. It also just doesnt seem to run as smoothly all the time.

2. The battery life of Android devices doesnt seem to last as long as my iPhone 4. Most my friends use Android...

Should Apple implement wireless charging concept in a typical “Apple Way”?

The concept of wireless charging is becoming a standard feature in flagship Smartphones. The latest Smartphones from Samsung, Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge features wireless charging concept that is compatible with both standards of wireless charger and because of this it is garnering more attention from the consumers across the world.

Most of the Android based devices these days have inbuilt wireless charging feature, but there is still major manufacturer that has yet to employ this function in their Smartphone, yes we are talking about Apple.

When the world switched to microUSB as a standard charger for Smartphones, at that time Apple was still stuck to its 30 pin connector. When this 30 pin connector was considered as an outdated and slow c...

A Samsung SPH-M320 shows "Emergency mode" only...

...it also refuses to be shutted down. It shows that it's related to Sprint when you open it (not on the screen).

It was working ok until a few weeks ago but suddenly it's showing signs of trouble.

After having searched on the web for info on cellphones I learned of something called rooting; I've given this idea some consideration and since the phone is now de-activated but still with a considerable amount of MBs available inside I want to try this thing of rooting and using it later as a kind of memory stick, just for fun. I'm aware that there might be other more useful things to do with it, but for starters I want to experiment with it, if at all possible.

Now that I've established what I have, in what condition & my immediate pur...
