phone reviews

I understand you folks do a lot of reviews, but please stop referencing other reviews in the middle of one. I do not have forever and a day to read all of your reviews all the time, nor do I wish to. I would like to read a review on the devices I am comparing rather than looking back at previous reviews that I am not interested in. Just my two cents.

quick question...

When a user uses profanity that is auto-corrected, blurred out. Are we auto-reported as well, or does sombody have to report us?

I was curious what your opinion is of the Google Market rebranding.

I personally understand the desire to get away from the "Android" bit condsidering they're advertising it as a content provider for computers now, but I believe renaming it entirely to "Google Play" is a strange move.

It seems they're trying to shift it more in the directon of movies/music/books, but I feel like changing it to Play just cements in the emphasis on games in the market. I feel like they should have just went with "Google Market", and avoided the mass confusion this is starting to cause.

which politics are ok for me to talk about?

I see political threads all the time that could be construed as trolling to the other side of the political spectrum. I have seen threads that attack people who believe in a higher power, and these threads don't get deleted/closed. Is this because one side of the political spectrum is more likely to complain about it? (wouldnt be surprised). I'm sure you don't intentionally allow one side to say their piece and then close the other side's. The TOU say to behave and not be a jerk. I got a warning for "trolling", and I was discussing a political subject, in wich I feel strongly about, and was only following suit with the pace of the liberal posters. Most politics are going to stir emotions.

Not asking for special treatment. I am o...

Number of views

if it wont take too much of your resources, it would be interesting to see how many people viewed an article or post. 🙂

Your message with the subject "Re: Jimi," in the Lounge forum has been deleted.

The message contained a personal attack, something that is specifically prohibited by our Terms of Use. In the future, please avoid inflammatory name-calling such as:

"He's a liar and a phony."

We appreciate your help in keeping Phone Scoop a friendly, civilized place to talk about phones.

Thank you.

i wonder

will it be better for PS to have a "delete" feature?

this will be helpful if you posted something but realize after a few minutes that it's not worth posting
i know some good and bad side to that

(-) abuse people posting something offensive and deleting it outright once the target gets the message
(-) less responsibility on posts since you know you can delete what you started
(+) people who posted out of anger can retract their statement
(+) correct errors or delete posts when you've changed your mind after 5min.
(+) lessen bans

'Purged' posts...

Just a curiosity; do you keep some sort of archive of posts that have been purged from the site?

That is, posts that are automatically 'deleted' because they are too old, such as those prior to March 2011 in the Lounge (for example).

Hey Rich/Eric

Are you going to be covering the Apple event on Wednesday, or because there's no word on the iPhone are you not (since supposedly it's mainly about the iPad)?

Ads--Rich

I've bee noticing that some of the ads have gotten a bit racy. One (I've seen a few times but takes FOREVER to load) talk about chat/dating sites with "women online now."

When I see it again, I'll post it, but I thought you might want to look into it (unless you gave the OK, in which case, don't look into it).

Rich, another HTML question.

Which HTML special entities are allowed here?

For example, I know > , < and   are.

What else?

Rich, an HTML question:

Is it possible to display the less than and greater than symbols used for HTML code on this site in a message? I understand that you can use them unattached from anything, such as Star Wars > Star Trek, but what if I want to teach somebody how to use HTML and I don't want to use brackets in place of less than/greater than symbols?

For example, I know the HTML code can be played with to write out the word cocky for example, which is normally blocked, but if I try the same trick with writing out an HTML command, it shows nothing.

I don't feel like I'm properly explaining this, so if you need clarification, please let me know.

Thanks!
