TXT MSG Delivery Confirmation???
Jun 1, 2006, 10:38 PM
in the Motorola Q forum

Here's the only downright obnoxious thing I've found about the Q so far. When I send a TXT, I immediately get a confirmation TXT back. What the hell is that. Can I make it go away???general impressions below Good: So far I'm pretty happy with my Q. The screen is nice. Voice Command works well. The BT is much better than my VX9800. Reception is good. Voice quality is great. Jury's Out: Haven't played with ...

Ordered mine, but what about overnight shipping??
May 31, 2006, 10:28 AM
in the Motorola Q forum

I called B2B this morning, and the guy ordered the Q for me. Later he actually called back to say they wouldn't be able to until the 5th. I had to order on line. Processing/shipping time was the whole reason I tried over the phone. So I go through the process, but had no option to expedite. What gives? Any ideas on how I could push it?

Silicone

What I'd like to see is one of those colorless translucent silicone jobs that cover everything but the screen and keyboard. Those are slick. Here's an example on a Treo: http://www.notestation.com/product_p ics/palm/treo700/silicone/pcs-treo700_front.g if http://www.notestation.com/product_pics /palm/treo700/silicone/pcs-treo700_back.gif http://www.notestation.com/product_pics/pal m/treo700/silicone/pcs-treo700_top.gif

That seems to be good enough for VZNavigator to give those features. I'd be more than happy with a VZNavigator style program. Especially if it means not having to carry yet another piece of equipment.

How fast does VZW REALLY process returns???
May 22, 2006, 3:53 PM
in the Motorola Q forum

I returned my phone to Verizon about a week ago, and it was received last Friday. I didn't expect it would be processed yet, but a CSR just told me it could take as much as two billing cycles to process. I asked her to confirm that I might not be able to purchase another phone at promotional prices for two months, and she said yes, sometimes it takes that long. Then she advised I call back in ...

Re: miniSDIO + Memory?
May 20, 2006, 9:36 PM
in the Motorola Q forum

Right. The BT was just a for instance. WiFi + memory is the real question. I don't think there is yet. In full size SD, there is WiFi + 1GB. I can only hope they'rer working on the same for miniSD.

You noted that your old phone must not be damaged. Does this mean part of he deal is turning in the old phone? All in all this does not sound like the offer I was made. I told the CSR that I had damaged my phone and wanted to replace it. She said I could gett 25% off, no strings, no contract extension.

miniSDIO + Memory?
May 20, 2006, 4:56 PM

I know you can buy SDIO cards that incorporate, say a bluetooth of WiFi radio AND some memory. Is therre such a beast in miniSD format? I haven't seen one yet, but sould very much like one.

I think we may have crossed lines on this one. I did get the 9800, but not via the 25% discount on retail pricing. The 9800 was purchased using standard promotional pricing at the end of my contract. The 25% was something I was offered 6 months ago, and turned down. I returned it within the worry free guarantee period. I tracked it, and it was received yesterday at noon. Activated the 8th, postmarked for ...

May 16, 2006, 7:01 AM

No. It just means that your personal account has to be sponsored by a business. Many businesses work out deals with VZW to provide them discounted service / equipment. Often their employees have the benefit of being able to use that business deal for their personal account. Check with your employer to see if they have a VZW business account, and if you are offered discounts. If so, contact VZW B2B customer service, migrate your B2C account to ...

That's right on as well. An I'm pretty sure youi don't have to be an employee of anyone. I think anybody who choses to upgrade their phone early gets that treatment. I tried to upgrade my phone about 6 months ago, which was 6 months early, and I was offered 25% off retail. I had a normal B2C account at that time. Speaking of which, I just had an idea. I JUST upgraded to a 9800. ...

Re: Prolly no...

Right on. I've spent plenty of time on the horn with B2B CSRs of late. VerizonPro is correct. All folks that qualify for a business discount get some % off their PRIMARY LINE if the monthly charge is OVER $34.99. Keep in mind that does not include extras such as VCast/Text/Data packages. Then, dependant on the contract your company has...which is inpart due to it's size, you get a different % off of accessories, and/or reduced "promotional pricing" ...

VZW Insiders - When Will The Q Be "Coming Soon"?
May 13, 2006, 11:23 AM
in the Motorola Q forum

We've had a couple folks confirm May 24th as the launch date, but when will VZW post it on the B2C site as COMING SOON? I have another 9 days to return my 9800, and I hope I don't have to use my busted @ss old phone for long before I can really get my hands on th Q.

Yeah, it was kind of a joint problem. Really there was additional nonsense. I spent quite some time fiddling with VZW's red tape just getting to the point where I could order the phone...personal to business account transfer. That took weeks. And then the mixed up folks at the B2B call center(s)...I never got the same answer twice...on POLICIES...through at least four CSRs. Crazy. Then there's: - waiting to the last minute (after ...

Random VZW Rant
May 6, 2006, 7:07 AM
in the Motorola Q forum

They NEVER stop working for me...except for these THREE DAYS! This is long, but I'm ranting. This is just comical. So, as I posted before, I ordered a VX9800 to bide my time until the Q is a viable option. I received the order confirmation. 2 to 6 days to deliver, and they weren't kidding. Not including the day I ordered, they took every bit of 6 business days, and a weekend to the SCHEDULED ...

For some reason, I'm inclined to believe you. The thread above yours agrees with the timing you've laid out...especially considering the fluid nature of the "spreadsheet" data thus far. I was supposed to receive my VX9800 today. Yes I broke down and got a HIGHLY inferior phone, and a huge piece of hardware to boot, but I couldn't wait, and didn't want any of the currently avalable Pocket PCs phones. Anyway, due to a shipping error, it'll ...

Things like this make it incredibly difficult to believe the Q is so far from release. If the device is good enough for your rep to be toying with in public, it has to be two hairs from flawless. I'd expect VZW wouldn't want people running around with buggy handsets for all to see. Of course that's just the "I want one too" talking. Anyway, here's hoping we'll see more soon.

Renewed Interest
Apr 20, 2006, 7:22 PM
in the Motorola Q forum

I'm glad to see the renewed interest going around. I have tried to keep my mind off of it, to the point that I actually tried to upgrade my phone on NE2. Perhaps thankfully, there has been a snag, apparently NE2 doesn't apply to all the numbers on a family plan...silly me. Reason number 287 to kick VZW to the curb, but it has created a delay while I migrate to a business account...that's the potential good ...

On other phones you can use the lock feature by pressing and holding the # key. The unlock process is then the same, but at least you wouldn't have to open the phone.

TaZeR...you forgot giants like Ford/GM/Chrysler. And really products like Mac and Beta did themselves in by not allowing development on their platforms (ie if the only phone you could buy on VZW's network was also made by them). No industry is so insulated, and no company is so powerful that it's course is not subject to influence. Don't get me wrong. It's not like this is life altering. We all made it many years without cell phones. The reality ...

He switched to Cingular. I'm with you. They clearly know about it. They have botched yet another launch. Worse yet, after talking to my friend this weekend, I felt even more reason to switch. Aside from the things I already noted, the whole world phone bit is appealing. All in all, the situation is ridiculous.

Is the Q losing steam...before release?!?!
Apr 11, 2006, 5:21 PM
in the Motorola Q forum

From this, and a couple other boards I visit, it appears as if interest/traffic has diminished a great deal. Folks are universally tired of the waiting. Whatever the reasons, the excuses can only take VZW so far. If the amount of chatter around the net is indicative of interest, it looks like VZW may have sh!t in their chair. Incidentally I was visiting a friend who had moved to a more metropolitan area a year or so ago. He immediately ...

I think I understand your comment about official release. When I said "...the better part of a year after the official announcement that the Q would go into production..." I was talking about Motorola's announcement, I see how that could be misleading.

Thanks. I rounded the ETF. Didn't want to be a stickler. :D Also, the fact that VZW hasn't confirmed the device was a large part of my note. "Further, phones are announced long before any official word from Verizon, and the program development, or should I say the all but endless revisions and launch delays, are widely broadcast over the internet , often by folks clearly in the employ of Verizon. Long Note to "Ron" at VZW

This is long, but I think I summed it up fairly well. It may have been a waste of time, but it made me feel better. Let me know what you think. Ron, I appreciate your responses. Re: Price anyone?

Well, that $300 and under was the 'with new two year contract' price. I don't know what BBs retail for. By comparison, the Razr is $99, and the 6700 is $399. I suppose I could see the Q coming out at $400, but that would probably serve most to boost 6700 sales. Most folks don't really know the difference, but could figure out that the 6700 is more bang for the buck.

I would ceratinly hope so! Small screen...not touchscreen...simpler OS Considering it's capabilities (once the AKU2 upgrade rolls around, I'd hope it would be priced along the lines of a Blackberry. Here's to hoping.
