Re: Lolwut?
What you do plus some other stuff.
And you'll notice I said talented hacker. Care to tell me why talented hackers can't crack code? Because Anonymous would have a laugh if you say talented hackers can't hack.
Re: Lolwut?
I think what he was trying to say was that if someone has the time to attack your phone with an algorithm, they either have physical possession of your phone, or the know how to attack it successfully in the first place.
A 6 digit pin code is best against some random fool. But any talented hacker would crack that. And if you don't believe that you obviously have never written code before.

What?!?!?
So my breakfast omlete in a Valencia filter isn't worth letting the whole world see and know about?!?!?

Re: I thought the proposal
Come one man, don't you realize that every utility is totally jacked up?
I pay an absurd mout monthly in the following utilities:
heating
electricity
water

cable.
It's govermental way to tax anything they can. That's proven fact.
Re: Wrong Again
It wasn't that LTE wasn't a good idea. It was, and it will be for another few years. But in the long run, the clearwire spectrum will be worth a ton. The problem is, most carriers are short sighted and only concerned about the next fiscal year. See, Verizon seilling towers to cover dept.
Re: What would be nice...
WCDMA is not the same as the regular CDMA that companies like Verizon use. It's a different animal.
The real question will be, once most networks roll out LTE nation wide, and switch to having an LTE only network, what's to stop a phone from working with all the different LTE bands? If I understand the technology correctly, nothing.
Theoretically a phone would work with all the different LTE bands. So one day, probably in something like 5 years, consumers will ...
This is where pre-pay has its advantages
If you have a pre-pay account and pay online and not through cards, you don't have to pay any additional taxes or fees.
So a $50 a month prepay, can truly be $50 a month.
Re: Mixed Feelings
I'm totally with you. But there's going to come a day when the tech companies refuse to play ball. If google, apple, samsung, LG, Motorola, Microsoft, etc, suddenly decide to stop playing ball with the Feds, it's all over.
The feds can only do what they are allowed to do. If the OS companies all collectively decide to lock them out, what are they going to do?
Re: Well you know
Verizon is actually pushing their non-contract.
I work for an indirect retailer who handles Verizon, and not a day goes by where we aren't hounded about our EDGE numbers. The problem is that EDGE is a crappy plan, and usually more expensive than getting a 2yr contract. So obviously we don't sell many.
Re: Dear Supreme Court
If the person themselves calls in and gives proper verification, they should be able to allow a carrier to kill it.
What I'm worried about is allow any entity to access this feature without the user's express permission.
Re: Dear Supreme Court
I'm fine with users being able to kill their own devices. I have that turned on with my Android bases Sony phone.
But users should be the only ones who can access and or kill their own phones.
Dear Supreme Court
Please,
for the sake of humanity, rule that the feds aren't allowed access to this feature.
Thank you
The average guy who cares about privacy.
VaporAnnounce
Is it just me, or do Verizon and AT&T's announcements that WI-FI calling won't be until 2015 sound like vaporware to anyone else?
Re: confused.....
It's cool.
I didn't mean that the Wi-Fi calling would only work IPhone to iPhone, which it does already through faceTime.
I was refering to an earlier question regarding Wi-Fi calling on verizon. Verizon iPhones won't be able to do wi-fi calling except through faceTime. That's what I was trying to say.
Re: confused.....
Ummm....okay. Care to have an intelligent conversation? Or are you just going to go with that old "Your wrong and I refuse to give reasons" argument?
First of all, the cell spot, upon further review you are right about. But did you have to say it that way? Is that really how we talk in a civilized society these days?
And regarding the Wi-Fi calling on iPhones, yes, they will work on T-Mobile phones, but not Verizon. Look it up. Verizon ...
Re: confused.....
The reason why they are offering this device is because not all T-Mobile phones have Wi-Fi calling. Especially the iPhones and Windows phones. The device allows users to use wifi calling if there phone isn't capable of it.
Also, I wouldn't expect the Wi-Fi calling to work on the Verizon iPhone the same way, Verizon isn't a fan of Wi-Fi calling. The calling on the iPhone will probably only work iPhone to iPhone.
Re: Overpriced still
yes, the single line plans do not work with employer discounts. Only the more everything plans do.
That's the kicker. The plan is $60, but you can't lower it anymore than that.
The hope is that everyone will eventually adopt EDGE, but as long as EDGE is still more expensive, it's a waste of time.
Re: Overpriced still
One thing that's worth not.
Yes, it is $60 a month before taxes for UNL Talk and TXT before taxes, but you can't add any discounts to that. that's the price
Smart
This is a very smart decision. HTC realizes that there is a lot of money to be made in value added services, and that many uses might like a phone, but like some parts of the UI from another phone better.
Break up fees
Sprint doesn't have At&T money,
so I'd hazard to say that they didn't want to pay break up fees.
What other reason is there for a sudden change of heart?
T-Mobile is in good financial shape, so that's not the issue.
Re: government needs to stay out
It's not the children's fault usually, they can't help it if their crappy parents feel like letting them do whatever they want.
But agree, individual by airline basis is best.
No such speed promises
I hate to break it to those who think that Verizon promised Unlimited data at top LTE speeds. They didn't.
This whole idea of data speeds comes from advertising. When Verizon talks about data speeds of up to 50mbps, which anyone who knows phones knows that such speed can't be handled by a phone. You really only get something like 15 mbps to actually work with.
I currently work in the wireless industry for an indirect retailer. In all the ...
Cost
I have one question for everyone.
What about the cost of the data?
Verizon regardless of whether or not they did promise or are obligated to provide unlimited data, I know for a fact they never promised cost.
So why don't they just raise the price up to 100 a month per line?
Unlimited users can still get it
Re: Question
Well that stinks.
Question
Does anyone know if the promo is for two lines? Or is it just four?
Re: Doesn't matter
Enlighten me, because there isn't any functional reason why to use different frequencies. If there was, why do all carriers use 1900MHz in some way or another?
Other carriers use the same frequenceis. I.e. : T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T all use the 1700 2100MHz band for LTE.
So, Captain Know it all, what is the reason? Because it seems to me that there is already shared use of some frequencies, so why not with all?
I'm not disputing the idea ...
Re: Doesn't matter
Oh? How amazing. My statement is dumb, and yet you don't elaborate on how.
Seriously, any joker can criticize.
I'm not against phone unlocking, it's just a fact that an unlocked phone in the US doesn't mean the same as it does in the rest of the world. You can't take a t-mobile phone, unlock it and make it work on sprint.
Re: I smell a lawsuit
Did you really think they'd leave unlimited alone forever?
They just launched a 100GB plan. That says only one thing, unlimited's data's days are numbered
Doesn't matter
as long as the FCC makes carriers use different frequencies, it won't matter.

It's about time.

I refuse to be impressed until someone comes up with a Star Trek TNG style voice print automated computer system. Given that Lauxanna Troi is sadly no longer with us, someone else will need to carry the mantle.

Re: Yes
you realize that the whole world hates us because of how we spy on them?
The Germans are about to consider a ban on US products because we spied on them.
I'm proud of being an American too, but we do we need to spy on the whole world? If anything, WikiLeaks and Snowden did us all a favor because they exposed how ridiculous our government is. We burn too many bridges.
Re: Crazy,
So you're saying that Apple is responsible for that crime against humanity known as dubstep?
They should be tried for war crimes.
Re: Verizon iphone
Your Apple love is starting to rot. Someone get me some weed killer.
Re: iphone 7 screen
No offense iFan,
but you do realize that Apple is still using LCD displays right now?
They're not exactly on the cutting edge of technology. And why does just the iPhone need this display?
Can't we all get phones we like with nice displays?
Great but....
What's the chance that no companies adopt the new standard?
The cool WI-Fi boost that the Galaxy S5 offered wasn't picked up when most cell providers got their hands on it.
Or.....
Could it possibly that because retailers haven't intergrated ISIS like many wished, the group is using this as a chance to rebrand themselves to try and start fresh.
Just a thought.
Re: why....
As a fellow WA worker in costco, I couldn't agree more about the hatred of iPhones.
I don't dislike them as products, they are alright. My fiance has one (though, she prefers android).
But as far as the commission cutting, that wasn't based just on iPhones, it had a lot to do with Verizon EDGE. They're trying to push everyone to it with all they have. Which is annoying because it's not a good deal for most people.
