yeah, the QCHAT (i.e., push to talk done over EVDO data connnection) is a major battery drainer. I had the Sanyo Pro 200 awhile back and with the MSL, figured out how to disable EVDO (and thus disable push-to-talk) and it increased battery life exponentially. As a guy who still just uses my cell phone for calling (I use computers for the internet), I am thinking this Sanyo may be my next phone assuming the reviews are good.

Bluetooth usage is horrible

in the LG Rumor2 / Cosmos / Banter / UX-265 / Script forum

Note to anyone who uses a Bluetooth headset and is considering getting this phone: You have to put your headset in pairing mode and then go through several menu screens on the phone EACH time you pair the headset with the phone. With my Sanyo Pro 200, you only have to "pair" it once and then and quickly connect that headset at anytime in the future without putting the headset in pairing mode and going through several menus on the ...

Yes, Sprint IS late to the game with a sideways clamshell. Also, I think the LG EnV is built much better...that OLED screen on the front of this Sanyo will get old fast in day-to-day use. High quality matte plastics with real buttons is way better than some fingerprint-laden virtual screen that is more prone to damage as well.

in the LG LX-290 / 290c forum

Every carrier needs to keep some low-to-no feature phones in the line up for the people who really just want a voice phone. Actually, this LX-290 seems to be done well. From the cnet review, it sounds like it is made with quality, matte plastics (no greasy, fingerprinty material that only looks cool for the first 5 minutes), has solid physical build quality with a strong slide mechanism, and provides excellent call quality (VERY important!). I am relatively savvy ...

IT'S TOTALLY MY BUSINESS IF I'M PAYING FOR IT! Did you read that this program is funded by "collections of the Universal Service Charge billed to cell phone users." Great, now with Barak Obama we are even socializing cell phones! Don't blame me, I supported Ron Paul.

Gray version removed from Sprint.com
Oct 19, 2008, 1:31 PM
in the Sanyo Katana Eclipse forum

I've been waiting for the black version to come out too. I see all the other new phones went up on the Sprint website today. The gray Eclipse was removed from the website...but the black and pink versions have not been added. So right now, there are no Eclipses for sale on the Sprint website. Anyone have any info?

Re: Sub $10 Katana Hard Rubber Covers on Ebay Worth It?

in the Sanyo Katana Eclipse forum

I got one for my moto ve20. I like it. They snap on and fit very good and snug. They have cut outs for all external buttons and ports, so no functionality is inhibited. It does not in any way prevent the phone from fully closing. I don't use it all the time because it does add some bulk to the phone and it makes the phone just a tad more cumbersome to handle (just like any cover would, such ...

Why all the raving about call quality??
Sep 25, 2008, 7:05 PM
in the Sanyo Katana Eclipse forum

In all the reviews I see for this phone everyone keeps raving about how great the call quality is. I have a Sanyo 8400 and calls are pretty much always clear with no static or anything - would I notice an improvement going to the Eclipse? Can any owners comment on this? Is there really something extra special and noticeably great about the call quality of the Eclipse? Is it just super clear? The reason I ask is because call quality ...

The review of the Eclipse on info sync world says the reception is bad...they say they couldn't get a signal where other Sprint phones had a bar or two. Can anyone who owns this phone comment on the truth to this?

If you think Howard Stern is a program that "dumbs down" then you are dumb yourself. If you actually listen to the show, you will discover it is filled with high level satire and social commentary. You probably also think the Simpsons, Family Guy etc is just gratuitous and sophmoric because you don't get the full meaning of the jokes.

Re: we're thinking about offering...

in the Article: Sprint Adds M300 To Entry Level Lineup forum

I really hope this trend of making glossy phones ends. Glossy phones look sleek when you first see them, but after about a week of dealing with the fingerprints and the greasy effect, it gets really old. After using the a640 for a few months, a would never buy a glossy phone again.

May 15, 2007, 9:28 AM
in the Samsung SPH-M510 forum

I like the design and features of this phone, but am concerned about a few things. First, is the plastic glossy so that it shows fingerprints? Glossy phones seem cool for about 2 days, until you get sick of all the fingerprints and the greasy effect. A good quality matte plastic is way better. Also, what about basic performance? A lot of reviews for the m500 were luke warm or negative about call quality. I have stayed away from Samsungs ...

So do all A/C adapters draw electricity when plugged in? - even if the device they are attached to is off or they aren't attached to any device at all? I have also heard that TVs use electricity when they are plugged in - they are in a standby state that allows them to be turned on by the remote control. The government has to get involved in the minutiae of cell phone providers' policies now??? It is an individual's personal responsibility to check a cell phone provider's policy on defective hardware before signing up. If a person isn't comfortable with a provider's policies or the risk of having to pay out of pocket for a new device outweighs the benefit received from the phone service, THEN DON'T GET THE CELL PHONE. I'm not sure what to think...based on what I read online (see my earlier post) this phone will basically double as a gps navigation device that does not rely on the Sprint network at all. But Rich Brome says no. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I googled "Sanyo 7050" and this trimbleoutdoors website came up where someone had a blog entry about testing the 7050. Based on his blog, it sounds like the 7050 gets GPS from satellite signals independent from the Sprint network. Built-in GPS navigation?

If this phone is touting its GPS capability, is there any chance that it will have a built-in navigation system that doesn't require any extra usage charges from Sprint? Otherwise, what would be so special about the GPS capability on this phone that hasn't been on every other phone for the past few years that would make Sprint brag about its GPS capability?

this phone should be exclusive to that peculiar Kmart store that somehow still exists in the run-down part of everyone's town. It'll be on some obscure pre-paid provider that markets toward ethnic minorities, social misfits, and other demographic segments that are generally undesirable.

Based on the C-Net review, the only thing that the Bluetooth on this phone can be used for is a headset and a business card application. So, it sounds like you can not send the pictures that you take with the camera to your computer via Bluetooth. Dude - I appreciate simplicity. I am coming from an LG vi-125, which I loved. That phone is SIMPLE. However, it has several basic customizable options that the cg225 does not have. The cg225 doesn’t have options that were standard on the 2G, non-color screen phones. I think the cg225 crosses the line from simple to annoyingly inflexible. Since you have seen the actual cg225, does the external display have that fake color background that looks like trees and clouds? Or, is it just a plain non-color display?
