First, to those who think AT&T might not want this apparent iPhone competitor, remember that this is not 3G. The new iPhone will sell but the AT&T 3G coverage is still only in major metropolitan areas. That leaves HUGE portions of the customer base either buying up recirculated 1st gen iphones or buying the new one and paying the higher data rates even though there is no 3G signal. Plus, the iPhone still lacks a long ...

There are several ways to get ringers onto the V3m. Read through this thread: http://www.howardforums.com/showth read.php?t=934864 Of all the approaches, I highly recommend going the the Mark Venture "how to" pages and look for the instructions for the V3c. He clarifies about 3c vs. 3m and offers step by step instructions for just about anything and everything you might want to do with your phone. I chose to use the email to phone approach. It is easy ...

There are several work arounds. Most are more than I wanted to do. They include seem edits, flash, MPT, voice recording and file overwrite. But frankly, as I read through all of that, I realized that I only had about 12 and at $0.25 for each email, my twelve would cost me $3.00 and that my time was worth more than the three bucks. Follow: http://howardforums.com/showthread .php?t=946750 Therein is a link to Mark Venture's page with ...

I bought the VZW kit and it did not really "sync" with outlook. Unless it has changed during the last year, it was a spreadsheet-like program that would import your outlook contacts and then sync from their software to your phone. Basically it was a two step sync via their software instead of a direct one click sync. Motoroal MPT is a true sync. After buying both and comparing, I returned the VZW. I had ...

Hi Gang, Been off the forum for awhile and have not really followed this issue. For the most part, I am happy with mine. I have NOT changed the software/firmware, have a good keypad and great reception. I can still load mp3s for ringers and have not attempted any hacks. I have 2 regular batteries and the desk charger so I run each all the way down and then switch. Both seem to be suffering ...

MPT is MUCH better for Outlook sync. I have not used my phone as a modem (ask phonephreak04) and from threads I have read, MPT will not edit or load images/rings. TF is easiest for images/rings. With the moto cable that comes with both MPT or MOK, I have read that you can free download BitPim (search here and HoFo) and edit files and even remove the stock images and rings. I bought MOK (for V710) and it ...

When this was announced on HoFoi last week, everyone tryiong to order found the web site very slow - like 20+ minutes to complete a single unit order. Now, posts all indicate only the front half arrived. The unit supposedly includes 2 pieces (front for the phone - which reportedly accommodates leather case and extended battery) and a rear piece for a spare battery (yes, with the correct contacts). However, all posts so far indicate units ...

BTW - step 15 is only necessary if you email the tones to your phone. If you use TF, you can leave the MP3 format. At least this is according to what I have read in posts. I have never emailed to my phone. All of my ringers are in MP3 format.

Sorry you are having difficulty. I just re-verified it on mine. I set a specific mp3 ringer for my home phone. Then I called my cell from my home phone to verify the ringer ID. That setting is for general incoming calls. Specific ringer IDs over-ride the general ringer setting as they would whatever ring tone you have set for the general incoming calls. If you are in a meeting, class, etc and need the phone to ONLY vibrate - simply open the flip and press the down volume (ring style) to zero (which will say "vibrate"). All incoming will vibrate. then, later when you want the phone to ring, simply reverse ...

Not A VZW rep. I work from home in rural AZ and have absolutely nothing to do with the cellular industry. As I said, I understand your frustration. Special Ed, I have read your other posts about VZW. I can appreciate you are unhappy. I offer you try to step back from the issue and look at it fresh. The level of satisfaction vs disappointment with the v710 is completely a function of 2 points: a) what features you use and b) if you received a problematic handset. Overall, VZW customer service is the best of any cellular company (at least in my experience). Granted, ...

Looking forward to your comments after you play with your new 850! I WANT the turn off and quick pair-up because with the V710, you need that to hear the phone ring. I will never use a headset enough to justify keeping it on to hear a ring beep. For me, a purchase would be somewhat of a toy and to experiment with BT. I certainly have no need for it but the new noise ...

I've been watching for the 850. Where did you get (order) it? Price? Others I have spoken to seem to like the 820 over the 810 but this new noise canceling feature has me intrigued enough to try a BT headset. I don't care about the LCD but both inbound and outbound (as sounds to other party) sound quality is important to me. If I understand correctly, the 810 and hopefully the 850 with ...

This has been addressed many times. Do a search here and over in HoFo. If all you are interested in is contacts, VMO will work. It is not a true sync. It reads Outlook and places them into its own spreadsheet. Then you can download them to your phone and from your phone to the spread sheet. Food for thought: That thread specifically advises against attempt for people inexperienced with flash process. It may be fine for those that know seem altering computing but the average person... Additionally, it is also stated (by a VZW independent tech) that such a flash will more than likely void your warranty. Have you looked this up in HoFo? I KNOW there are people over there that have sp2 and MPT and get the two to work together. I know there are some issues and I have been postponing the sp2 download while I monitor this issue and await a possible update to MPT. I am using 2.21f and xp with sp1. 2.0 when updated thru "live update" to 2.21f pairs with v710 nicely (assuming you have the drivers). I cannot speak authoritatively about laptop pairing for use as a modem (have not done that, no laptop at present) but I can tell you that many over in HoFo have posted success - as a modem, not BT file transfers. The driver may or may not be in version 3.11. Instead of putting your phone in vibrate mode (which as you have learned lets ringer IDs ring through), just lower ringer volume to zero which IS vibrate and all calls will vibrate - try it! Then just raise volume after your meeting/work, etc. To do this, just open phone and then press the down volume on the side of the phone to zero and screen will show vibrate. Same in reverse to raise it.
