so I'm going to clarify. I am not well educated on the living conditions of rural Jamaica and that is what I was referring to. Avaya, I doubt you live in a rural area considering that you operate a website and you host quite a few events. That being said, I was just curious about the way of life in the Jamaican boonies. Are the conditions generally of a third-world country as it seems so cliche to assume, or ...

to express my hatred for ignorant fools who visit my store. I won't even explain the story, because we likely have all had similar experiences as employees of the wireless industry. What angers me is the arrogance of some ignorant customers. It's one thing to act foolishly by acting as if you know more than you do, but it's an entirely different thing to act as if you know more than I do about the industry I work in. How ...

Well, RadioShack operates a few different subsidiaries. I can tell you with absolute 100% certainty that my channel uses NSS, and NSS only. Although, other channels under the RS umbrella could operate differently, but I wouldn't know.

Verizon Data Plan Changes
Oct 28, 2010, 5:10 PM
in the Verizon Wireless forum

I'm aware that the new tiered data plans have arrived at VZW, and I'm aware of the prices. I also see they have the pay as you go option at $1.99/MB, so my question is do smartphones still require a data package, or are they relinquishing that? It seems highly unlikely that they would remove the data requirement, but still worth asking because I haven't seen anything to disprove that to be true. Thanks

Unfortunately, that model does not have a GPS chip. That phone is an old model, though, so you are more than likely eligible to upgrade through your carrier and receive a new phone for free.

That changes the story entirely. I first agreed with sprintchick, but knowing that VZW does that gives logic to a class action lawsuit.

is still Windows Mobile. Microsoft has proven that they have no place in mobile operating systems. Everything they've touched outside of desktops and laptops has been disastrous, including tablets and mobile phones. People often cite hardware as the cause of constant failure, although there were very capable phones that were crippled by WM's terrible code. Android is such a massive competitor to anybody, and companies such as Microsoft should realize that handsets are going to be a money pit.

I'm pretty sure I read that the association that rates speeds stated that true 4G is 100 and that Sprint's 4G is not true 4G. I could be mistaken, though. I will try to find the article to find out the truth.

Sanyo 2700?
Oct 11, 2010, 4:21 PM
in the Article: Sprint Selling Certified Pre-Owned Phones forum

I assume the prices listed are the prices with contract (even a BB Tour used is worth far more than $80), so is it actually correct that the Sanyo 2700 is $50? I personally don't think that phone is even worth $50 full retail.

Re: AT&T holding back on Android?
Oct 10, 2010, 4:59 PM
in the Article: CTIA Fall 2010 forum

It seems like AT&T has been slow to introduce Android. If my memory serves me correctly, they were the last of the Big 4 to introduce an Android phone, and that was the disgraceful Backflip. Why are you so behind the game, AT&T? Your exclusive relationship with Apple is coming to an end and you're going to crumble if/when VZW gets the iPhone. Name one advantage that you have over VZW other than tiered data pricing (which can also ...

Re: 4G vs HSPA

T-Mobile is making a mistake by not advertising their data speeds!! I'm racking my brain trying to remember the name of the association, but there is a group that is responsible for basically monitoring anything related to mobile data transmission. Their standards for 4G are 100Mbps, so technically nobody even comes close to real 4G. Sprint's wimax network peaks out at 10 and that's with unrealistically good conditions.

Out of curiosity, what is the reasoning for wanting to use batteries? The only reason I can think of is that you'd be in a remote area without electricity...but then how would you charge your phone?

Re: 4G vs HSPA

I'm not an expert, so don't quote me, however I'm pretty sure that only HSPA+ is as fast as 4G. And there are only a few phones (I think only one currently available) that have the radios necessary to utilize it. If you are indeed using an HSPA+ phone, the speeds experienced will be faster than Sprint's 4G.

Sprint Ahead. Cheers to a very fitting post. Sprint is responsible for so much progression in the wireless industry as you pointed out, and then some. I personally credit Sprint with reducing pricing industry-wide. They were the first to offer an 'all-you-can-eat' package with Simply Everything at such a reasonable rate. Since its debut, VZW and AT&T have both reduced their pricing structures radically to remain competitive to Sprint. Both carriers went from offering unlimited talk at $99 to $69, ...

If I sync my PS account with FB, what shows up on my FB account, and how do I control it? Also, do my FB posts relay onto PS?
