This vs Verizon's LTE-A
So how is this better than Verizon's?
Re: Not really about the encryption argument, but...
But how would states enforce this? Would software manufactures have to create different versions of their OS simply for these states? Also what about people who purchase their devices in a state without these lack-of-security requirements and bring them into a state that has these requirements.
Re: I Hope Samsung Reads What I Have To Say.
What about the new architecture for internal storage that Samsung uses in the S6 for faster read/write speeds. Wouldn't this be hampered by the read/write of a low class SD card? Also as someone who sells cellphones, I see a lot of instances where people's SD cards mysteriously fail on them causing them to lose many important pictures/videos that can not be replaced.
One thing I think we can all agree that Samsung did right though with the ...
I had the first Xperia Tablet
It was a great tablet, I was very happy with it until I dropped it and it broke. I purchased it slightly used from swappa.com though and got it at a slightly better price than new from Sony's online store.
Slightly off topic, Sony is pretty bad about having you send in a damaged product and fixing it. Unlike Samsung and Motorola who I have sent in broken devices several times and have had them fixed in a ...
Why
why does the EU need to approve this? Aren't these companies in America?
Re: Real or LTE-A?
G stands for generation right? So was HSPA to HSPA+ a new generation of technology like how EVDO to LTE or WiMax was, or just an upgrade of the current generation?
And for that matter would you call this even an upgrade to the current technology or just expanding what's available for the the current technology?
Real or LTE-A?
So is this real LTE Advanced or is this "HSPA+ is equal to 4G" LTE Advanced?
Great Article
One other thing I believe having subsidies inflates is the non-subsidized cost of phones. Would anyone ever at this moment be purchasing a Samsung Galaxy S 3 if it's cost was $599.99 (current price on VerizonWireless.com off contract)? I bet not, so they would have to lower the price right?
Cross-Carrier Phones?
This would be one giant leap towards using any phone on any carrier in the US right?
Sprints Coverage
As someone who sells Verizon, we've recently seen a large influx of customers wanting to leave Sprint because of coverage issues. This transaction won't be good for my sales, but should be good for Sprint.
Using Light
I guess it would work fine when wearing gloves or with a pen then?
Do we really need all these different OS's?
Why keep reinventing the wheel when it's working just fine?
Why would U.S. carriers bother?
Why bother upgrading HSPA+ when everyone's going LTE now? Or is this technology being designed with non-U.S. carriers in mind?
Re: I'm quitting my job at Verizon.
There will always be idiots thinking you can do things you can't, some even think they know your POS systems better then you do. That's no reason to quit though.
I tell customers that customer service charges the $30 upgrade fee (since it in no way increases my pay at all) and that usually gets them off my back about it.
Customers will usually see things the way you see things, that's why people complain about the $30 ...
So was WiMax a success then?
6 LTE markets by 2014? Should Sprint have just stuck with EVDO and tried to get LTE sooner?
Re: What consequences?
That won't make a difference. We've had phones stolen out of our store off our displays before, the people were then stupid enough to activate the phones an hour later. We gave the police the thrives name, description, adders, and phone number. The police never did a thing.
Re: What consequences?
Not being able to activate the phone won't stop people from stealing them and reselling them though.
Re: Very cool program
Except that they give you the WORST return for your phone. Www.celltradein.com had had the best amount for your phones that I've found yet.
Re: Will LightSquared sue the government?
Hi. When I say purchase I meant purchasing the licenses, not the spectrum itself. So even if LightSquared uses the spectrum for satellite technology, won't that still cause interference with GPS devices?
Re: Will LightSquared sue the government?
And this has been on the same frequency as what their LTE network was going to be on?
Re: Will LightSquared sue the government?
... my point was that LightSquared purchased something from the government for a lot of money and now the government is telling them they can't use what they purchased. If you don't like the cellphones example, then it would be like DISH Network signing people up for their TV service, then not broadcasting any stations.
Re: Will LightSquared sue the government?
Ok, LightSquared originally purchased the spectrum for satellite communication and not LTE. So you're saying if LightSquared used their spectrum for satellite communication it wouldn't interfere with GPS systems?
Will LightSquared sue the government?
LightSquared gives billions of dollars to the government to acquire spectrum licenses, then the government tells them they can't use it. It would be like Verizon or AT&T selling phones that are designed to not work on their networks.
Re: Seriously!!!
This will mostly effect customers who are on a very minimum plan and use their old phone, that's in perfect condition, for emergency purposes only.
Re: It's like my laptop and the cable company...
My RAZR MAXX is rooted already just not ROMed, although with Go Launcher and Go Locker I've been able to set up my phone the way I like it. I went with the MAXX over the Resound for the speaker quality, the thinness of the phone with such a huge battery, the solid, sturdy feel of the phone, and the HDMI output. I was very close to going with the Resound for is better camera and higher ...
I'd prefer this
My cellphone carrier should be providing me with cellphone service, not making it easier to use my credit card.
Re: It's like my laptop and the cable company...
Don't get me wrong, I wish the bootloader of my RAZR MAXX was unlocked and that I didn't have to bootstrap to ROM it, and I wish more of my customers were rooted with titanium backup or a nandroid backup so they didn't lose anything when I've had to wipe/replace their phones. I'm just saying we own the phones not Verizon. And yes they and Motorola should not loco the bootloaders.
Re: It's like my laptop and the cable company...
With Verizon at least, the customer does own the equipment, they're just getting a subsidized cost. That's why Verizon offers a trade in program for the customers old phones instead of just asking for them back, and why your monthly bill is the same whether you get a 2 year our not.
Re: I smell fragmentation problems
Isn't allowing different manufactures to skin Android differently what is causing the fragmentation problems with Android? Won't Gecko have the same problems on an even larger scale because it's even more customizable?
I smell fragmentation problems
Because everyone can make each phone completely different, but let's hope I'm wrong. Still it's good to see more ideas being tested.
Woosh!
That's the sound of all this info flying above my head. :) What's a processor platform and why is it important to have it designed for specific operating systems?
Re: 41MP
Holy #+&$!!! On the other hand, I wonder how much storage I'll need for each picture?
Re: Or
They'll get sued by Apple no matter what they do. I'm sure Apple has already patented making processors for cellphones.
Or
They could just call them 4s processors. :-)
Re: Day late due to at&t
We could blame Tmobile for Tmobiles problems.
Re: Reinstate the Spectrum Screen FOR REAL
Or how about companies are not allowed to purchase additional spectrum until they're using at least 80% of what they own.
Dear AT&T
People aren't as stupid as you think they are. Come up with some legitimate reasons to buy T-Mobile and stop making a fool of yourself please.
Thanks!
Re: Just more evidence
Yep, so let's hope they get their buts in gear and start using their spectrum.
Re: What is the big deal
The big deal is...
You switched to T-Mobile with your iPhone from AT&T for a reason right? Now suppose you never had that option and were stuck on AT&T, and suppose AT&T knew that.
Also Sprint DID want them. Just because Sprint uses CDMA doesn't mean they can't rent out GSM technology to other carriers, or use other assets that T-Mobile had.

First, where does the idea of theft apply here?
Last I checked, this was a mutual thing.
He wasn't implying that there was any theft going on between AT&T and T-Mobile, he was just using theft as an example of something that happens a lot and is still not a good thing.

So, regardless off what you may think, ATT isn't the only "bad guy" in this.
So we agree that AT&T is in fact a bad guy. :)
