Re: signal strength / bars on moto droid - more detail?

in the Motorola Droid forum

Hey Mupi - Thanks for the tip about looking up the actual signal strength, since the menu choices under "about phone" are basically the same between the 2 phones it was pretty easy to find. Turns out they are very similar, but now I'm wondering what the 2 numbers that appear under signal strengh mean... The current signal strength on my wifes phone is reading -81dBm 16asu. When I walk around our house, it will change though, ...

signal strength / bars on moto droid
Feb 14, 2010, 2:01 AM
in the Motorola Droid forum

Question for those who have switched to the Droid, how is your signal strength compared to what you switched from? So far I have not dropped any calls, but have concern because the phone has never gotten 4 bars that I can notice and is usually bouncing between 1 and 2 bars, esp at my home and office, where the bulk of my usage is. I came from AT & T with a blackberry that always had ...

Another Moto Droid vs. Eris thread with some questions
Feb 11, 2010, 3:35 PM
in the Motorola Droid forum

Hi all, I am new to touch-screen phones, coming from a BB curve and my wife is coming from flip phone. We just got our Droid pair, mine is the Moto and got her the "free" Eris as part of the deal. So, I have had the opportunity to play with both for a couple days now and am surprised to say I think I like her Eris better overall. Just looking to discuss a little ...

Been reading about this phone on here and on ATT's forums on their site, seems like a great device overall. I understand the win mo OS is probably a little more figety than BB, but the features list is non-stop, so to speak. I am cosidering a wi-fi phone and like this option better than the BB 8820, but may be missing something. Anyone, is there an overall reason I should avoid this phone over the ...

Re: Curve 8310 vs. Pearl 8100 (ATT customer)??
Dec 13, 2007, 9:34 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8310 forum

Yes, I did the comparison from this site, actually, comparing both of these to the Moto Q for added benefit of 3G speeds and speed, but that's another story. The comparisons help with stats, but I was asking of people have had the lock-up problems I have had on my Pearl with the Curve? Also, once you get used the the keyboard, GPS seems like one of the only advantages and they make a bluetooth gps receiver ...

GPS included in data plan? Price?
Dec 12, 2007, 8:32 PM
in the Motorola Q Global / Q9h forum

Am nearing the end of my 30 day trial with a BB Pearl, and planning on switching to either the Curve or this phone. Part of reason decided to switch is for built in GPS. Question about the data plans: BB is $30/month, and the data plan for this phone is $40 as I understand it. By chance does that include the GPS service or is it still $10 addl like with the BB packages? ...

Curve 8310 vs. Pearl 8100 (ATT customer)??
Dec 11, 2007, 11:01 AM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8310 forum

Hey all, posted a short note in the pearl forum also, but wanted to try here to get perspective of Curve users. Currently have the Pearl, my first BB or any 'smartphone' for that matter. Always had flip phones, but have some need for calendar and email on the go with new sales job, and like the movie times for personal use! Anyway, here's my question - Other then GPS which not sure if I'd subscribe to, and ...

Phone is locking up, is this common?
Dec 3, 2007, 10:04 AM
in the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 forum

Have had the Pearl (AT,T model in OH) for just couple weeks now, love the phone and BB service mostly for checking emails so planned on keeping it, but just recently started having problems.... Twice in the last 3 days it has locked up, but didn't even know it until i tried to place a call. Go to dial and immediately flashes "Call Failed" then back to the home page. So got home and called mysel, goes straight ...

Re: battery life--give it a few cycles

I am also only on day 3, but I can report that mine (wifes actually, but I'm the one to decide if return or not as she hates messing with these thnings) has gotten better since the first charge. While it's new, don't plug it in until its dead or very close, then leave it powered off while charging fully. I know they are not supposed to (marketing literature) but I believe they will develop a battery ...

Re: 3G

in the Nokia 6555 forum

I also assumed you could choose to use the phone w/o the "3G" network technology turned on. In fact, if you look at the overview/specs on this phone it shows 6 hours of talk time, which I figured was not on 3G is only way they can claim this. If can't go without 3G, how can they claim this talk time, or even close to it? Wondered if you asked them that in your call to ATT, Nokia? ...

Phone colors (only finding in black locally)
Nov 10, 2007, 2:11 AM
in the Nokia 6555 forum

Hi, wife is upgrading tomorrow and I will in couple weeks. Usually we get the same phone so can share a car charger and learn to program them together, etc but last phones had the faceplates we could change to differentiate the phones when laying on the same counter. Question is about the colors of this phone. Nokia shows it in white, orange/reddish as well as black, but when wife was shopping they say can any ...

Comparing this to Nokia
Nov 8, 2007, 9:22 PM
in the LG CU515 forum

Hey all, posted similar question under the Nokia 6555, but comparing these 2 phones and possibly Krazr model. Like these 2 because of the large bright screens and ability to subscribe to PTT (push to talk) within our family plan if we want to. Both the 6555 Nokia and the CU 515 list PTT, but don't know anyone that's tried it. Not big into texting or surfing, only occasionally, but want good quality phone, good reception ...

Comparing this (Nokia 6555) to LG CU 515 model...
Nov 8, 2007, 9:19 PM
in the Nokia 6555 forum

Hey all, time for the 2 yr upgrade and heading to the store tomorrow. Comparing this to LG new(er) model 515, little thinner but wider from what understand. Anyone had the LG to compare yet? Reason looking at both of these is we may try the Push-to-talk (PTT) feature within our family plan soon and both show that feature. Then even if we don't use it they both seem like quaility phones with good reviews ...
