My contract is up in March and I'm most likely getting this phone. I have the LG V right now and you cannot make sounds, recorded sounds, or the sounds you send in texts as ringtones. My boyfriend has the LG VX8300 and he can make those sounds ringtones. What I would like to know is if this phone can do it as well? I know his phone came out after mine did, so I was hoping that maybe they put that feature on the EnV as well. Thanks ahead of time for the replies.

It is much easier to put ringtones on the 9900 than the 9800, and there are several methods. This discussion has been going for a while over here ->
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1052468 »
at Howard Forums. Some recommend using software (bitpim or qpst) and a data cable, but there are easier ways with the 9900.
One very easy way is to email them to yourself using any email client (hotmail, gmail, etc...)and a short "~20 second" .mp3 to "my10digitnumber@vzwpix.com"
when you recieve the message you can save as ringtone.
If you have a memory card and a computer, you can create (or download) mp3 (or .mid) ringtones and "pix" message them to yourself from the my_sounds folder.
Hope this helps ๐Ÿ˜

Wow, good. All I needed to know was that you could send a pix message with a ringtone and save it as one. The 9800 doesn't allow you to that. My boyfriends 8600 does though, so he's been using the site http://mobile17.com/, where you upload a song to the site and select which part of the song you want and how long you want it and they'll send it to you as a message. I'm so excited now to get this phone! Thank you so much. ๐Ÿ˜

Ok I've been under the impresson that my friend has been saving the songs i send him as ringtones. well once he gets it if he likes it he buys it because he cant save it as a ringtone. Little did i know he has been paying for them .. I'm considering upgrading to the EnV but won't until i know for sure that you can do your own ringtones. I have over 300 ringtones and sounds on my E-815 , i just hate to lose it ... Sorry for the confusion ..

I don't really understand how to do this? How do you attach a 20 second mp3 to email and send it. Are you doing this from your computer or phone? Please give us newbies a little more step by step information. Your help is GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks ๐Ÿ˜

To my knowledge unfortunately you still cant do that. It has to do with the UI but dont worry about that. You should Just make your own ringers. More fun that way.

Hmm.. I don't know who to believe! Lots of people on phonescoop have told me that you can, infact, send songs to your phone via email and then just save it as a ringtone. But then there's the few saying you can't. โ˜น๏ธ I hope you can!

almost all of the new lg's you can send ringtones to your phone as a picture message.

#1. take a mp3 file on your computer
#2. Shorten it to 30 secs or less.
#3. attach it to an email (phone#@vzwpix.com)
#4. Save as ringtone (on phone)
#5. Enjoy

Ok, i tried that but the sound quality of the ringtone sounds like a nextel phone. Is there anyway to have the sound quality better? Also, I got a usb cable and I am using BitPim for the Mac but I don't know how to use any to send tones to my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

yeah but it's hard for many to justify spending $1.99-$2.50 for 30 seconds of a song that you can either pirate or buy for $.99. I prefer to make my ringtones, and it works even better.
