The Green enV

Ok so my sister will be eligeable soon for a new phone. the New every 2. She originally had an old Samsung camera flip phone but her b/f bought her the original enV. Lucky i know. It was her high school graduation present. Anyhow, she didn't go through tech support she just switched ESN numbers so she's still eligeable on October 4th. Does anyone know when the green enV is comint to Verizon stores? I mean I'm not entirely sure if she'll like the look of the arms green enV but she asked me about it once already. there aren't too many other phones out now anyhow other than the LG 9400 but she wants the QWERTY keyboard just like i do. Thanks for any help guys. Much appreciated. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜

Honestly, the army green enV may not ever come to regular Verizon stores. It's being advertised as a "Circuit City Exclusive". Your sister can just use her NE2 discount at Circuit City, right? I don't see why there should be a problem. ๐Ÿคจ
But, honestly, I really think she should wait for one of the newer phones that are gonna' be coming out. There should be at least 2 new Verizon phones by the holiday season. Although, I'm not sure if the new LG with the qwerty is coming out then, maybe early next year for that one. ๐Ÿ‘€
I, personally wouldn't waste a NE2 discount on the green enV. I'm waitin' for the LG X. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Oh yeah definitely. I agree with you and she does as well because she texted me that she's not even going to use it. She's just going to wait untill something newer comes out. Do you know what kinds of phones will be coming out though? That LG QWERTY keyboard phone not so soon eh? I hope it doens't have touchscreen because just like the Iphone, it's going to piss people off. Like we said before, sure its cool to think about it, but it's not very efficient when it comes to typing. WHat other phones have you heard about though?

Well, at least 2 new phones I know are coming out are touchscreen. The 8800

is a slider with a partial touch screen on the front. ๐Ÿ™‚
and the "X"

touch screen front, qwerty inside ๐Ÿ˜

The 8800 should be out by the holidays, and the X may be out by then, but most are saying early in 2008. Personally, I hope it's sooner rather than later. ๐Ÿ™„

Hey thanks for the info Ashaneen! Wow i didn't eve hear about that website before. I'll have to keep check on it! What are your opinions of those 2 phones? The newer qwerty phone doesn't look too different than the enV especially on the inside. The touch screen? Does that impress you? Do you like the iPhones touch screen cause honestly i don't like it soo much. That website said WiFi. Are these phones going to have that or not? That's where I'm confused about. As far as the other features go yeah the other difference will obviously be the support for Mediaflo network for the VCast TV which is sort of a given. I'd like to hear your opinon about all of this info. THanks!

Well, yeah. The new LG phones look pretty good. The 8800 is a replacement phone to the Chocolate (I think). And the "X" is a replacement to the enV. ๐Ÿ˜ Both of them are getting touch screens probably because of the iPhone. ๐Ÿ™„
You asked if I was impressed by the touchscreen. Well, not really, I think it's a pretty cool addition to the phones, and is almost going to have to be a standard now for phones with such a large external display, but it doesn't impress me. I think it is a neat addition but it's not going to be a deal-breaker or anything. ๐Ÿคจ
Just wondering: Why don't you like the iPhone's touch screen? ๐Ÿ‘€
Also, you mentioned WiFi on that site. Perhaps you misread, because although there was a WiFi icon on...

Wow as always Ashaneen, excellent response!! Lets see, so are you saying that you're currently unhappy w/ the enV you have now? THe reason I don't like the iPHone...it's quite simple actually. I mean sure the Safari browser is cool...I'll give it that. But other than that, what else is cool about it? the touch screen? I can't type nearly as fast w/ the iPHone for texts as i can w/ the enV/ THats why i LOVE having a mechanical keyboard! and yeah for such a hyped phone, it doesn't even have the A2DP BT profile..what gives for an Ipod type of cell phone! That's another think that I absolutely love about the enV.

So, the newer enV will be able to play music in the background like the chocolate can now? Mmm very intersesting.

When you say ...

Do you know how one would apply to be a field tester for Verizon though? I think if i got the Tech Support job at Verizon, I'd love it cause i love talking to people and helping them out w/ their phones and explaining things ya know? What do you tHink? Your opinon?

I totally get what you mean about the iPhone's virtual keyboard, and the enV's "real" keyboard making texting a lot faster. after using phones with internal qwerty's (9800, 9900) I don't think I will ever go back to a regular phone. ๐Ÿ˜
As far as the HTML browser goes. Well, we don't know that much really at this point. All we know is that the web browser will be able to go directly to most HTML web pages, no more going through a WAP portal or getting scaled-down versions of sites. The web browser on the X should be like the Safari browser or the Opera Mini browser, and very similar to what you would get using a real computer. ๐Ÿ˜
I still think, however, that Verizon is going to "cripple" the BT capabilities of the phone. Meaning th...

Wow Ashaneen,
again most impressive posting. I swear you've got to be one of the most knowlegeable people so far I've spoken to on this forum! Personally i consider us both very knowledgeable. haha ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ™‚

I do hope that you still enjoy using your enV though right? You don't hate it i hope. โ˜น๏ธ

I guess at this point, we'll just have to wait and see what comes out from LG for Verizon that's all. ๐Ÿ˜•

Do you have the extended battery for your enV at all? So, do you think that I would be good at doing in store tech support? I mean you can tell i love talking to people and definitley helping them out with their problems. I can sync up a BT headset in a matter of seconds. Wow what a skill in life to have! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Does it bother you grea...

I think you are definitely knowledgeable when it comes to phones. And your passion for phones should make you a great CS rep (if you really do get the chance). ๐Ÿ˜Ž
Don't get me wrong, I looooove my enV, but there are still a few things that I would change about it, and the upcoming "X" should provide these needed upgrades. (MediFlo, HTML, etc...) ๐Ÿ™‚
I don't use an extended battery at all, it's just waaaaaay too big, I agree with you there. And I haven't really needed more than 4+ hours of continuous use (music/vids/phone, etc..) so I never got one for my enV. As for the new phone. The "X" may suck up a bit more power than the enV because of the large displays, but I think the extended battery for that one is going to be similar in s...

Hey Ashaneen, thanks for all those responses! Yeah I definitely am applying for Verizon Tech support full-time as well as Vonage and FDU's Ravewireless cell phone system for Marketing/advertising/technical support. I LOVE talking to people about phones, helping people w/ their problems ande so forth. i enjoy staying on top of the market with the new prodcuts and seeing whats coming out next of course.

Of course in reguards to the new phone, I probably wouldn't buy the big battery either but I"m sure I'll wind up buying the new phone anyhow. hahahah. I LOVE my enV for everything it does. I use it incessently and it ALWAYS performs for me no matter what. I think it's actually only shut down on me and re-booted twice and that's once in a wh...

If you have a data cable or BT dongle, you can use this program to change things in the filesystem on your phone. I mainly just use it for adding ringtones and some minor changes to some of the files on the phone's filesystem. ๐Ÿคจ

Oh ok thanks for the info. What's a bluetooth dongle? Like an adaptor? I just send ringtones to myself via the website mobile17.com. I have soo many ringtones half of which I don't even use which is sad. So I assume overall that you're happy with the enV and have no overall complaints. haha. It works great for me. Although i might think about getting another screen protector for myself. I used to have it with the V but then just forgot about it completely. I just want to keep all that dust off my phone. I'm kind of uptight/anal about that. haha
