soon... like within 2 months max. Some people are aiming for next week, but yesterday i asked a rep and he said mid november, he also looked like a douche bag so i don't take his word for it.

I'll bet after Thanksgiving although I too have read/heard sometime this week it was coming. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that this phone would run on CE 5 and CE 6 just got released.

Windows Mobile 5 is the interface that runs on top of CE 5. Windows CE has many more development areas other than Windows Mobile. Many embedded machining platforms run on CE.

The release of CE 6 is a big step toward WM 6, but we shouldn't confuse the 2. Windows Mobile 6 may still be many months away from final.

that seems like it would be another reason for cingular to delay the release, but the fact that more and more actually 8525 phones with the cingular box and etc. leaves me to believe that is not as far away as you would weem :\

Don't confuse Windows CE with Windows Mobile. They're different. The current version of Windows Mobile is 5. AKU3 is coming soon, and after that a new version code-named Crossbow, although that hasn't technically been announced yet.

The announcement of Windows CE 6 doesn't have any immediate relevance to Windows Mobile.

Do reps work on commission, or are they supposed to be mindless bodies?

WOW that’s quite an informative and relevant response to the forum question. There should be an age limit restriction so children can not post on adult forums. And yes we do make commission ,but at what bearing does that have anything to do with Cingular's rate at which they inform their employees on upcoming devices. Anything else malcom ross????????
Didnt think so.
For those adults who are more mature than a tadpole Cingular has a new release date for the 8525 as posted by

Thanks, I know some of us appreciate it! I can def. relate to working for a company who doesn't communicate w/ its employees!

Pardon my bluntness, but there is a big difference between commissioned employees and "mindless bodies" - i.e. WalMart / Best Buy style. As a customer, I would expect better customer service and knowledge from a company that has commissioned employees. It has been extremely dissappointing going into the Cingular stores and knowing more about the 8525 release than any of the employees and the manager.

Even if it is the fault of Cingular corporate failing to communicate, the end effect is that it makes the field sales reps look bad to me, the customer.

I for one have come to expect it. Since I knew more about the 2125, 3125, 8125, and now the 8525 than they did before they came out, and on occasion I knew more after it had been out a cpl. weeks. I really don't think its right to blame the associate, as they most likely have lives, and don't go home researching what they do for a living. So the only way they will get info is through their employer. Employers many times go by the theory of if we tell them nothing they will say nothing, rather than if we tell them something, they will assume things, make mistakes as to what we said, etc...So the question to ask yourself is: Is no info worse than unreliable info. or vise versa? to me I'd rather get a blind stare than a "uhh, well I think...

Well..

If the only option is uninformed sales reps.. From an executive perspective.. I would recommend Cingular stores take the Circuit City approach and change all the employees to hourly pay only, no commission. If the sales reps are not actively educating themselves, in order to enrich themselves thru commission, then what is the point in paying commissions at all. Personnel costs are always the highest cost for all corporations. If Cingular can lower this cost and pass the savings on to me the customer, or pass the profits on to me the stock holder, then they should get rid of commissions and just pay hourly wages and expect their employees to be uninformed workers just manning a cash register.

Why accept mediocrity.

But, it...

OK . . . Just some usefull information. A wireless carrier such as Cingular Verizon Sprint etc. will not release information on a product until ALL testing has completed. About 2 years ago Cingular release information about the Nokia PDA before all the testing was complete. While custmoers (as myself) were pissed at Cingular b/c the dates were incorrect then when the device did not pass a certain test and was pulled it looked bad on Cingular. Now (as in with this 8525) You will hear about the phone from other parties until all testing is complete.

When you look on the spec of the phone the last test was approved on Oct 27 2006. We then knew in the Cingular stores on the 1st of Nov we could release information to the public.

For...

Ducky.. It was my point that Best Buy does not work on commission.. like Walmart..

The main frustration from people on this board is Cingular did announce the phone last week that it would be available on Nov 16th.. Still, little to none of the Cingular sales reps know this.
