6133 Unlock code to use with Cingular????

I was tired of waiting for the 6126 to hit stores with Cingular. They're really dropping the ball on this one...so I bought a 6133 outright from T Mobile. When I put my Cingular sim in and power up the phone, I cannot use it because I'm prompted to put in an "unlock code". Anyone know what this could be or where I could find it? Thanks.

Return the phone and buy a 6131. Unless you are a T-mobile customer for 90 days they won't give you the code. No one has been able to unlock one without the code and they come from Nokia through the carrier.

I would buy the 6131 from Evan at iunlock.com and when you do ask him to flash it to the newest firmware. I have it on mine and everything works great. People who have Cingular and had problems with the VMI showing up now have no problems.

Thanks man. So I went to the site and all I see is where he unlocks them. I don't see anywhere to buy the 6131. Where do I go to get that phone? Also, will the MEdia Net work on the unlocked phone just like before, with Mobile Email and stuff? Let me know. Thanks.

You can call Evan and speak to him. He will sell you the phone, he offered it to me when I called him about flashing my 6133.

As far as I know MEdiaNet will work. I use the web to access T-zones, which is T-mobile's version of MEdiaNet. I can also download Opera Mini and use it to browse the web and Google Maps for directions. I love having the choice of using the phone to its fullest capabilities.

I know exactly what you mean. Where did you go to download Opera Mini? That would be great if I could do that! Also, I ordered the 6131 about an hour ago online and it will be here Tuesday! So I'm pretty excited about that! Is the phone really all that? I've messed with the Sony Ericcson W810i (which I have now) and it's pretty good, but I really want one of these Nokia's! How are they? AND, one more question for you (sorry, I'm long winded...). Did you just go to Cingular's website to get the settings for the MEdia Net and stuff? Or do you just use Opera Mini? Did you download it straight to your phone from somewhere or to the SD card? I have a card reader for that so if I downloaded it, dragged and dropped it, where would I put...

What advantage is it flashing to the newest firmware? Will it be pretty much the same as the normal 6131? Or will flashing it to the newest firmware really make a difference? If so, what changes will be made? Thanks.

After you get your phone go here:
https://secure.mouse2mobile.com/clients/nokia/americas/ »
This will send the settings to the phone for Cingular. Then go here for Opera Mini:
http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/operamini/campa ... »

The newest flash fixes some of the bugs that older firmware had. It gets rid of the clicking and popping sounds that happened when you placed a call. It gets rid of the VMI issue that some people have.

Ok, I see. But when I get the 6131, I should be ok right? Or do I "need" to have it flashed? I'm asking if it would work just fine without flashing it. What's the VMI issue? I don't know what that is. So if I have these problems, do I need to send it to someone to flash it or can I do it on my own? Thanks.

You do not need to have it flashed unless you have a voicemail indicator problem. Some regions with Cingular have a problem with the indicator showing up to let them know that they have a voicemail waiting.

If you are very knowlegeable about using Phoenix software than it is possible to flash it yourself. If you are like me, who if I had the time could figure it out, but don't, than I would send the phone to someone like Evan at Iunlock.com. He did a great job on my phone and had it back to me in a couple of days.

Hey man, it wouldn't let me download it. It said that it was not compatable with my phone. I tried to do it via text message. Should I try another way or am I doing something wrong? And I posted earler about the ascending ringtone thing...I have the setting right, but it still does it....any suggestions? The message alerts aren't as loud when I actually get a message either as they are when I set them to what I want. Any clue???

You need to go to the wap site to download Opera Mini. Enter the site I gave you earlier using the phone's wap browser.

Ascending ringtones are something the phone does automatically, although when I went to menu>settings>tones and highlight ringtone it gave me an option after I hit select to have ascending, off, vibrate+ring and also ringtone. I think if you hit ringtone it should work better. As for the volume there is an area below the ringtone type that has a bar you can turn up.

You can turn the phone's volume up by pressing the up button on the left side of the phone. It will turn the ringtone volume up as well.

I didn't have those options. When I go to menu/settings/tones, then I have incoming call alert, which gives me the options of ringing/ascending/ring once/beep once/off, I have it on ringing. Then there's to select the ringing tone and volume, which I have all the way up. So yours still does the ascending ring tone as well as the message alert? There's no way to change it???? Let me know. Thanks for your help. And is there any way to have the date show up on the external screen as well as change the font color for the external screen?

I don't mess with ringtones or message alerts, my work won't allow me to have them on. In the message alert it should give you the choice of ringtone, ascending and a couple of other options, including turning it off.

As for the date, with the firmware version I have I can put the time and date on or off. The external font size on the mini display can't be changed.

Ok, so when I go to "external screen" choices, it doesn't give me that option, only for the internal scree. Also, when I tried to use Opera Mini, it said that I needed a packet data or something like that, or that I'm not subscribed, yet I have the top Media Works package and always have. This worked fine on my Sony w810i. Let me know if there's something else I need to do. And it doesn't let me get 'over the air' updates. My firmware version is like 3.2 or something like that. Let me know what I can do about the Opera Mini for settings and stuff to use it. Thanks.

Go to your media settings and change it from ISP to WAP and it should work.

Where in the menus is this buried?

Thanks in advance.
